The Rebirth of a Scorned Heiress

It’s another broken family story

“Pardon?” Light asked in surprise as he looked Lily over, wanting to see if they’d ever met.

“You don’t know me?” Lily asked with a creased brow and Light frowned in dissatisfaction, thinking she was a fan who was trying to get close to him by acting familiar.

Despite his dissatisfaction, he smiled politely towards her. “I don’t think I have ever met you ma’am” he replied and Lily scoffed before bringing her phone out to show him a picture she had snapped with Alana and Gary at the studio.

“Are you trying to hide your identity from me or something? You said you don’t know anything about modelling while you are an artist!” She voiced, feeling somewhat annoyed.

Light pursed his lips as he looked over the picture, his heart racing while looking at the other him in the picture.

“I think there is a misunderstanding here” Celina cut in. “And why don’t we talk about this when the introduction is over?” She suggested and Lily turned to leave.

Celina looked at Light and noticed the unreadable expression in his eyes, she patted his back. “Come on, we will figure things out” she encouraged and Light nodded before wearing his professional smile.

Lily had also returned to her calm self by the time they walked on the stage with the others.

“What took you guys so long?” Avon asked but immediately kept quiet as he saw Light walking up the stage with Celina.

Upon seeing him, the crowd erupted into an uproar with girls screaming his name!

“Omg! It’s Light! Light is on team four!” Seeing the people’s enthusiasm, the host laughed.

“Alright, let’s all calm down! Tonight we will all be getting to know the representatives and sending out your well wishes to them. However, this is a fashion show, I hope for the sake of the designers and company, we won’t get distracted” the host announced while silently warning Celina and her team.

“With that being said, let the introduction begin! Starting from team one!” The host announced and cheers erupted through the hall.

The first team came out and began their introduction and before long, the first segment was over. As they walked down the stage, Celina and Evie bumped into each other and sparks went flying between them.

“Hello,” Evie greeted with a fake smile, her voice filled with arrogance and contempt.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

“Well, if it isn’t the princess of the Thompsons, I’m surprised you didn’t have an injury that keeps you out this time” Celina sneered and Evie’s face twitched as her fake smile dropped for a brief moment.

“You have an interesting lineup for your team, a debut, a newbie designer with no name, a… well, Avon and then you” Evie voiced out, her eyes showing a little disgust. “I can’t believe the Lam fashion would allow such a lineup ” she added and Avon scoffed.

“Well I was expecting you to say something meaningful, but as usual, you are overestimating yourself. Your lineup would have been a challenge to us if they didn’t have you on it” he taunted and Evie balled her fist as she folded her arms.

“You have your poisonous tongue as usual Avon” she gritted out.

“And you have your stinky attitude as usual, who have you picked to bear the brunt of your mistake this time? The designer or the model, since your assistant won’t be allowed to join the team” Avon countered with daring eyes.

Evie shifted on her feet, unable to hold her fake smile any longer, she glared at Avon and then at Celina then walked away. “She’s such a bitch, so annoying” Avon muttered.

“Well, she’s someone with low self-esteem who wants to bring others down lower than herself. I hope she can back it up with her skills” Lily mumbled.

“Hmph? She’s lacking in that, I would have been bothered if I’m up against her cousin whom they are trying too hard to hide” Avon explained.

“You mean Alana?” Lily asked curiously and Avon nodded.

“You know her?” He asked.

“Yes, she was my junior in high school and she’s currently working for me, without her family’s knowledge. Is the secret safe with you?” Lily asked worriedly and Avon’s eyes brightened up as he pulled her away from the crowd.

“Are you being serious? You have the Thompson family’s hidden gem working for you?” He asked in surprise and Lily nodded.

“Are you okay?” Avon asked worriedly, leaving Lily surprised and curious.

“Am I not supposed to be?” She asked.

“No! No! That’s not what I meant. I’m just worried. The Thompson family politics is worse than most noble and rich family’s politics. For their family, the most talented offspring and their family will be labelled as the main family in the Thompson’s group and for five generations now, it has always been falling into Evie’s lineage.”

“However, this time, it is different and Alana is more talented than Evie and because of that, the main family is trying very hard to suppress Alana and her family so that the crown would continue to go into Evie’s lineage. With that, anyone who tries to employ Alana gets suppressed alongside her” Avon explained in one breath.

“If this is known by the whole fashion world I don’t see a reason to keep making their pretence about the talented child or not” Lily voiced out and Avon shrugged

“It’s not everyone who knows. I only know the information because I am close and familiar with her two cousins” Avon clarified

“I understand, but there is nothing to worry about. I already arranged a way to keep her identity hidden until her wings are grown enough to fly” Lily assured and although Avon still looked sceptical, he let it go.

“Now, I’m even more interested in working with you. What do you say, employ me as a part-time worker, I do a good job and I won’t disappoint” Avon suggested playfully and Lily chuckled.

“I’m not sure I can afford to pay you” she replied and he pouted.

“I think Light is interested in you, he has been looking at you since we got off stage. I’m his friend and I know him well, so Ahem! I’m telling you although he looks like a man whore, he is a pretty gentleman!” Avon voiced and walked away as he noticed Light coming towards them.

Lily wanted to correct Avon but he was already gone before she could say a thing. With a shake of her head, she began walking back while trying to ignore Light.

“Hey!” Light called out to stop her.

“What? Do you now recognise me?” Lily demanded coldly and Light sighed.

“It’s honestly a misunderstanding, the person in your picture isn’t me. My real name is Harry, not Gary and that guy is different from me” Light explained calmly and Lily’s eyes widened.

‘System, is it true?’

{Yes, they are two different people}

‘Why didn’t you tell me?’

{You never asked and I thought you wanted to enjoy every bit of the competition fun, discovering his identity would also be fun}

‘You should have told me this one, I already misunderstood the guy and I almost fired an innocent person!’

{You would have figured things out in the end. Light is bright and Gary has a gloomy aura around him. If you spent more time, you would have found out eventually}

Lily brought out her phone and checked the picture again, comparing the two faces, she realised it was the same without any difference.

“Are you a twin?” Lily asked curiously.

“I don’t know” Light shrugged. “But that’s most likely it, can I meet him? The Gary? I’m not supposed to be saying this to a stranger but my family situation is kinda complicated and I think he might be my brother” He explained. “Can I meet him?”

“I don’t know, why don’t I ask him?” Lily replied, “I have to get his go-ahead before I can introduce you two to one another”

“That’s fine by me. I have a general idea of what is happening but I have to confirm from my family and I’ll appreciate it if I meet him before I talk to my family,” Light voiced and Lily pursed her lips with a thoughtful expression.

{It’s another broken family story. Gary would not want to meet him, so don’t make any promises} the system warned and Lily nodded.

“I will ask him and get back to you!”
