Chapter 1035 My Uncle Is the Deputy Director of the Inspection Bureau

Brighton Private Club was nestled at the foot of Amber Mountain, on the northwestern outskirts of the city. This luxurious retreat belonged to the Fields, a wealthy family in Brighton. Membership was reserved for those with a net worth of at least a billion.

However, profit wasn't the club's purpose. The Fields had built it as a hub, a private sanctuary where connections were forged and relationships maintained among Brighton's elite.

At precisely 4:30 PM, Zayn, Michelle, and Melissa sat in Oasis Pavilion No. 1, a high-end cafe on the second floor of the clubhouse.

A beautiful and graceful tea artist sat across from them, her delicate fingers moving with practiced ease. She cleansed her hands, boiled the water, warmed the cups, and prepared the tea leaves with an almost hypnotic precision. Each step such as rinsing the tea, pouring the first brew, awakening the fragrance, sealing the pot, dividing the liquor, flowed seamlessly like a timeless ritual passed down through centuries.

As the soothing aroma of the freshly brewed tea filled the air, it felt as though time itself had blurred, spanning across a thousand years, connecting the past and present in that single fleeting moment. Michelle set down her teacup. Her dazed dreamy eyes slowly fluttering open.

"This is simply divine!" she murmured.

Then, with a playful sigh, she glanced at Melissa. "Melissa, every time I come here for tea, it's like I'm floating. I swear, I could get drunk on this alone."

Melissa chuckled. "Then why don't you bring Mr. Zayn here every day?" As she spoke, her gaze flickered toward Zayn, who had been sitting in brooding silence the entire time. A deep frown lined his face. - Lowering her voice, she leaned toward Michelle and asked, "Michelle, what's wrong with Zayn? He's been

sulking since he got here."

At the mention of his name, Michelle's expression turned frosty in an instant. "It's because of that d*mn Robin. Before he showed up, Zayn was the undisputed golden boy of Brighton's elite. The darling of high society, the pride of our generation. 'Brighton's Number One Bachelor', 'The Modern-Day Young General', all those fancy titles, all that admiration was all his.

"Yet ever since Robin came along, everything changed. The old folks, the nobles and the aristocrats, even the Royal Houses, suddenly only have eyes for him. As if Zayn doesn't even exist anymore! It makes me sick just watching it!"

She exhaled sharply and continued, "And now, to top it all off, that guy led a team to the international martial tournament and stole the entire spotlight. Can you believe it? The luck on that bast*rd! He just waltzed in and took the championship like it was nothing! Isn't that infuriating?!

"Everyone knows these competitions are just a game of politics. The upper-level diplomatic offices pulled strings with the international committee, making sure things go their way. Without that kind of backing, no one would ever win anything."

Michelle scoffed, swirling her tea cup absentmindedly. "I heard these tournaments are all pre-arranged by the international committee. The winners are chosen in rotation. So, each team gets their turn at the championship. This time, it just so happened to be our turn. Robin sure has some insane luck!

"If that b*stard hadn't been the team's Commander-in-chief, Zayn could've easily taken the win. Robin is nothing but a sneaky, attention-hungry show-off. Just thinking about him makes my blood boil." 1/3

Her expression darkened further. "And don't even get me started on Catherine! That traitorous idi*t! She's practically drooling over Robin while putting down her own brother. If Zayn hadn't stopped me, I would've given that Robin a good scold ages ago."

Zayn shot Michelle a glare. "Enough nonsense. Why would I be upset just because Robin won a championship?"

Melissa's eyes sparkled with mischief as she leaned in. "Oh, so that's what's been bothering you? Come on, Mr. Zayn, the entire elite circle of Brighton looks up to you! You're talented, comes from an esteemed family, and Brighton's Number One Bachelor. No one can compete with you. Robin? Pfft. That guy's nothing in front of you."

"Alright, alright, enough of that. Drink your tea." Zayn waved a hand impatiently, his mood sour. He downed his tea in one go, then sighed. "What's the point of being admired by my peers? The old man at home, along with the rest of those geezers, are all obsessed with Robin."

He set his cup down with a sharp thud. "Sometimes, being too humble is a mistake. I've always kept a low profile, never one to flaunt. But Robin? That guy is calculated, always making sure he steals the spotlight when it matters most. Hmph. Those old fools will regret it one day."

Melissa's expression darkened, a flicker of hatred surfacing in her gaze. "I still remember that slap he gave me at Cafe Lake Dragonia."

Her fingers curled into a fist. "I've never been humiliated like that in my entire life! One of these days, I swear, I'll make him pay."

Michelle's eyes suddenly lit up. "Melissa, I remember you mentioned yesterday that your uncle has been promoted to Deputy Director of the Inspection Bureau. Is that confirmed?"

Melissa nodded with pride. "Of course. My dad said it's only a matter of time before Uncle Eugene gets promoted to become the director of the bureau. The higher-ups have already decided. His current position is just a stepping stone."

Michelle nodded. "Zayn said the current Director of the Inspection Bureau is about to retire. Your uncle will be promoted soon. The Fields will finally have someone powerful backing them. Zayn also said that the Inspection Bureau is ridiculously powerful. If they want to arrest someone, they just do it, no questions asked. Melissa, congratulations."

At that moment, something seemed to click in Melissa's mind. "Michelle, there's something I want to ask you. I remember you mentioning that Robin has an older sister named Joanna Leif, someone he was separated from for years. She's currently a graduate student at Brighton University, right?

"My cousin also studies at Brighton University, and she recently heard an interesting rumor. Joanna was awarded a massive scholarship. It's very rare because Brighton University has never offered such a big scholarship before."

Michelle furrowed her eyebrows. "I think Catherine mentioned it once. That scholarship was some kind of special grant, right?"

"Nobody cares," Melissa smirked, lowering her voice. "We can use this to stir up trouble. Give that Robin a lesson and show him that Brighton's elite aren't people he can just walk all over."

Michelle's eyes lit up with intrigue. "How do you plan to do that?"

"It's simple. We use Joanna's suspiciously high scholarship as an excuse to launch an investigation. I'll have my uncle issue an order to bring both Robin and Joanna in for questioning.

"Besides, I just got some inside intel that Robin might have been dismissed from the military. If that's true, he's nothing now. Just an ordinary nobody. Crushing his arrogance will be as easy as making a phone call."

Melissa's expression darkened with delight. "Then, I'll leak some rumors to the media, hire some paparazzi, and fabricate a scandal. Once the rumors spread, I'll make sure Robin's reputation is completely destroyed. Let's see how those siblings manage to survive in Brighton after that."

A chill ran down Zayn's spine. He quickly raised a hand to stop her. "Melissa, are you insane?" His voice was stern, laced with warning as he continued, "Listen to me, don't even think about doing something this stupid. If you dig your own grave, don't blame me for not warning you."

Melissa only laughed. "Come on, Zayn. My uncle is the Deputy Director of the Inspection Bureau. What trouble could I possibly get into?"

Zayn waved his hand. "Whatever. Just don't involve me in this mess. If you want to do something reckless, talk to your uncle about it."

He pulled out his phone, pretending to check his messages. "Oh, Melissa, something urgent just came up, I need to go."

Michelle immediately followed Zayn out of the private club.noveldrama

Melissa trailed after them, calling out. "Zayn, I'll contact my uncle about this right away."
