Chapter 729: A Precious Gift from Her Uncle
Her gaze suddenly sharpened.
"I don't have all day to waste with you. Hand over the formula now!"
"Elsa, I really don't understand. You've guarded a worthless piece of paper for so long. The Dyer family is gone, what use do you have holding onto that thing? Just give it to me. Considering you've been cooperative, I might even ensure your family lives a normal life."
Ella Bailey had heard that the formula Elsa held could bring the dead back to life.
She-must have it.
Elsa looked at Sally, held hostage by Woods, her heart waging a fierce battle, her face turning from pale to flushed.
After a long while, Elsa bit her lip and looked up at Ella Bailey, "I've already given the formula to Miss Reed. Even if you kill us, it's pointless."
Ella Bailey's expression darkened, and she lunged forward, grabbing Elsa by the throat, "Elsa, do you think I'm a fool?! You would rather sell your blood than give it up! What did that Tina give you to make you so compliant?"
Elsa, struggling to breathe, gasped, "Miss Reed helped me! Of course, I'd give it to her rather than to someone like you, you arrogant and malicious woman!"
"You're asking for death!" Something in Elsa's words struck a nerve with Ella Bailey.
Her eyes turned fierce, and her grip on Elsa's neck tightened.
Just as Ella Bailey was about to lose her sanity and strangle Elsa, Woods spoke into her ear, "Miss, you mustn't."
Ella Bailey's rationality returned at the sound of Woods' voice. Her eyes, fixed intensely on Elsa, tried to discern if she was telling the truth.
Seeing Elsa's composed expression, she knew it was the truth.
She slowly loosened her grip and then walked up to Austin, asking coldly, "Are you saying the item was really given to Tina?"
Austin nodded, "Yes! Miss Reed gave us this villa and promised to protect us here in Ashbury. Elsa did it for that-she gave the item to Miss Reed." Ella Bailey's face turned livid. She clenched her teeth and glared at Elsa, "You're ruthless!"
With that, she said to Woods, "We're leaving!"
Woods gently set Sally down, surprising Elsa.
She had thought Woods would just drop her daughter.
Soon, the sound of a car engine was heard, and only when Ella Bailey was truly gone did Elsa breathe a sigh of relief.
She quickly took out her phone and called Tina.
After several attempts, no one answered the call.
On the third try, hearing the mechanical voice from the system, Elsa worriedly asked Austin, "Do you think Miss Reed can really handle Ella Bailey?"
She nervously rubbed her hands, pacing back and forth in the room.
"The Bailey family is one of the top five families. Even high-ranking officials show some respect to Mr. Bailey. Could Miss Reed possibly..."
Austin, dizzy from her pacing, but mindful of the recent events, reassured her, "Don't worry. Miss Reed told us from the beginning that if Ella Bailey came looking, we should inform her of the real whereabouts of the formula. She must have a plan to deal with Ella Bailey."
Elsa understood this reasoning.
Thinking of Ella Bailey's expression before she left, Elsa felt a chill, "Do you think Miss Reed is already confronting Ella Bailey?"
Austin shook his head, indicating uncertainty, "Don't worry about it. I heard from Courtney that Miss Reed is the daughter-in-law of the Farrell family. You know about the Farrell family. Even if the Bailey family is powerful, they can't do much to her."
On the other side, in Jared's apartment, Tina and Jared had barely escaped the throngs of their urgent commitments, collapsing on the bed to catch their breath. Just then, the phone on the table vibrated twice. Tina nudged Jared, "Uncle, can you check who texted?"
Rubbing his eyes, Jared sat up and glanced at the phone, spotting Cole's note and the names "Dorothy Russell."
His handsome brow furrowed slightly.
"Is Dorothy Russell even normal? She was at CK prison this morning, and now she's already at Hartwood."
"You mean Dorothy Russell?!" Tina, particularly sensitive to the name "Five Poisons," suddenly sat up and leaned over to Jared. The message from Cole was clear and straightforward. She scanned it quickly and stood up, "Let's go, I'll contact someone now."
"Where to?"
Jared asked, his expression amused as he pulled her back.
"We're going to Hartwood, to meet my old rival," Tina said. No sooner had she finished speaking than her phone vibrated again. She paused, a strange number resting securely in her inbox, labeled "Elsa."
What the hell? Her mother was still in a coma, so who was playing these games now?
"What's wrong?"
Jared, noticing her unease, dropped the smile.
His eyes flashed coldly the moment they landed on Tina's phone.
"It seems they're really afraid of us being idle," he remarked.
Tina scoffed, withdrawing her hand from the doorknob, "Then let's play along."
No longer in the mood to lie down, she decided to take a shower and get some rest.
Suddenly, she stopped, turned back to Jared, and asked, "What did Issac say to you when we left the Brookes family today?"
Jared stiffened, a fleeting look of strangeness crossing his face. He carried Tina to the bathroom, setting her down in the bathtub, and pulled out a small box from his pocket, his expression indescribable, caught between a smile and something else.
"He gave me this."
Tina glanced at it, and the familiar logo made her cheeks heat up. Condoms? Her uncle had given him condoms? What the hell?Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
While Tina was distracted, Jared slipped into the bathtub, stripping off his expensive suit and throwing it to the floor. The sound of rushing water filled the bathroom. Tina's white dress was thoroughly soaked, clinging tightly to her body, turning transparent where the water marked it. The pink lace lingerie she wore underneath was fully exposed to Jared's eyes.
The man, who had originally planned to wait until their wedding day to fully unite with Tina, abandoned his initial intentions after indulging himself. He opened the box, "Big Uncle said he knows about us. He told me to be careful, not to make their precious niece suffer because of my own comfort."
Gazing at the muscles faintly visible behind someone's white shirt, Tina's cheeks turned red, her eyes bright and enticing, making Jared's throat tighten and his mouth go dry.
The sound of a zipper was somewhat muffled by the water, but to Jared, it seemed to echo right by his ear, his throat working as he moved closer.
Just as he was about to advance, his chest was stopped by Tina's finger, "Uncle, don't rush. You haven't told me what you think yet."
"Me?"
