Chapter 10
When Maia saw her mother’s name on the envelope, she opened it quickly with trembling hands. Rosa’s familiar handwriting filled her with warmth as she read the letter.
“Dear Maia, you've been through a lot.
“It's remarkable that you've stayed loyal to the hero who saved you from the fire all these years, even though he has forgotten about you.
“I saw how much you loved him and felt sorry for you. | wanted to yell at you sometimes. | couldn’t understand why you had to choose Cedric when there were so many incredible men around.
“But then, | noticed your eyes only lit up when you saw him. After some time, | realized you only did what made you the happiest. Although | felt bad for you, | could only support your decision as any mother would.
“Errol has a gift for winemaking, and the winery is perfect for him. As for the responsibilities at Starlight Entertainment, that’s a burden you must carry.
“Now that I’m gone, your uncle will take charge of Starlight. The 30 percent ownership is your safety net, and you'll have to fight for the rest yourself.
“| can no longer help you, but regardless of your and Errol’s decisions, know that I'll always love you. “You two, my dear children, are the last ray of light | leave in this world. May you both shine brilliantly.” Gripping the letter, Maia broke down in tears as her hand shook.NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
When she was young, she only wanted to be married to Cedric. Rosa had to support her choice, and she made a backup plan in case Maia got divorced.
If she had a chance to start over, Maia would stay the hell away from him.
Nigel handed her a handkerchief and said gently, “Maia, your mom wanted you to be happy, okay? You should leave Prismara and return to Solisar to take over Starlight Entertainment.”
After a while, Maia nodded and said in a choked-up voice, “Okay.”
It was time to say goodbye to Prismara. However, before she ended everything, she wanted to say goodbye to the man she had loved with all her heart.
No one knew she checked out of the hospital one day earlier than scheduled.
Prismara looked beautiful as snow fell, but it was freezing. Maia adjusted her white plush coat and stepped outside without an umbrella. She took a cab to Prismara Hill.
Seeing Maia dressed like a princess, the cab driver asked with a laugh, “Miss, what are you going to Prismara Hill for?”
“To see someone.”
She wanted to see the man she loved on what she once considered the most important day of her life.
The driver was curious and asked, “The person staying on Prismara Hill is the CEO of HL Corporation, Cedric Larkin. Do you know him?”
Maia shook her head. They used to know each other so well, but he would be a stranger to her after today.
“Then what are you going there for? There’s a snowstorm warning tonight. If you go up the hill now, you might not be able to come back down.”
“Thanks for letting me know,” Maia replied calmly.
The cab driver gave her a puzzled look through the rearview mirror and stopped talking for the rest of the journey. “This is as far as | can go, miss. You'll have to walk about five to six hundred meters from here.”
“Okay, thanks.” Maia paid the fare and got out of the cab.
The winding road had already been cleared of snow. Braving the wind and snow, Maia walked towards the villa’s entrance halfway up the hill.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
