Chapter 184
Chapter 184
Anastasia’s vision turned black, and her breathing quickened as she stared at the pool of blood on the floor.
Anastasia looked up at the person who had stabbed her, her eyes closing slowly.
It was Sienna’s uncle, Harold, the man who had forced himself on her in the past.
He was also Anastasia’s worst nightmare-a scumbag and a demon who had gone missing for years.
“Harold…” Anastasia chuckled sarcastically, her nails scratching Harold’s hand. “Did you think you could get away?”
Based on the video evidence, he was initially only charged with attempted sexual assault.
Now, he would be charged with murder.
“You’re such a jinx. I would not have been the target of public scorn if it had not been for you. It’s all your fault that I’ve been reduced to this state! You are the one who put my sister in jail, and you also ruined Sienna’s life. You are a jinx. I should have killed you a long time ago!” Harold brandished his knife and appeared ready to strike.
“W-Who told you I was here?” Anastasia thought she was being cautious.
She lived in a hotel, and very few people knew about it. Most of them were close to her.
“When did Harold start targeting me? Did he follow me here, or did someone inform him of my room number?” she wondered.
“Too many people want you dead, you jinx.” Harold’s expression turned ferocious. “Do you know why your father sold you to me back then? It is because you are not his biological daughter. Don’t you know? While your father was away gambling, your mother had an affair and became pregnant with you. No matter how badly he beat her, she would not reveal the identity of that man!”
Harold sneered at Anastasia. “You are nothing more than a rascal born from an extramarital affair.”
Anastasia’s breath grew even more ragged, and her whole body trembled uncontrollably.
“You’re spouting nonsense…” She would not let Harold sully her mother’s name.
Though Anastasia did not want to admit it, she believed Harold’s words.
If she was not her father’s biological daughter, it would explain why she had lived such a miserable life all those years. She finally realized why her parents had never shown her paternal love and why no one had ever been concerned about her. That was why Zeke was always abusive, and her mother would always say, “It would have been better if you had not been
born.” This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
“Why were you born, Anastasia? If only I weren’t pregnant with you. If only you weren’t born. Your father doesn’t want us anymore, Anastasia. I’m worried about you. I’m taking you with me, okay?”
Anastasia recalled her mother telling her repeatedly that her father wanted to abandon them.
At
time, Anastasia couldn’t comprehend it. Anastasia could not understand why her mother was still so attached to Zeke, despite the fact that he was an alcoholic who would always abuse her.
Now that she thought about it, if Harold’s words were true, the man her mother was looking for might not have been Zeke
after all.
“Go to hell.” Harold was about to stab Anastasia again.
“What are you doing?” a hotel janitor shouted.
When Harold heard that, he became terrified, threw away the knife, and turned to flee.
Anastasia’s strength was fading. Her vision was growing blurry.
On the
verge
of death, the first person who came to Anastasia’s mind was Jason, not Alastor.
She could not stop thinking about Jason protecting her and resolving everything for her at the art exhibition.
Letting out a bitter laugh, Anastasia lay in a pool of blood.
It was too late.
Her meeting with Jason occurred too soon, and their reunion happened too late.
Everything was too late.
“Ahl Help! There’s a murder!”
“Someone is killed.” The hotel janitor shrieked with a piercing voice, shouting that there had been a murder.
Hearing that, the hotel staff immediately called the police and an ambulance.
When Jayden arrived at the scene in his car after finally discovering the hotel where Anastasia was staying, Anastasia had already been carried into the ambulance.
“I-I’m her relative!” Jayden got in the ambulance and looked at Anastasia, who was covered in blood, his voice trembling as he made a call. “Jace! Something terrible happened! Anastasia is hurt. Anastasia was stabbed at the hotel, and we’re in the ambulance now.”
Jayden’s face turned pale, and he cried in despair, “Anastasia, please survive. You can’t just die and leave Jace alone!”
In a daze, Anastasia heard Jayden’s cries. “Jace? Who is he calling Jace?” she thought.
