When Love Turns Cold 14
“I’m too busy for this nonsense.”
“What? Nonsense? You’re the one at fault here! How can you be such a miser? Don’t you know misers are as despicable as rats in the gutters?”
“Go to someone else if you’re going to act all crazy.” Hansel wondered what the hell she was talking about.
Tina couldn’t care less about what he’d said. “Miranda has been taking care of you, both around the house and in the bedroom. How can you not give her any allowance? She even has to work as hired help for income! Won’t you feel embarrassed if word of this got out?”
There was a pause before Hansel asked, “Who are you talking about?”
“Miranda, of course.”
“What do you mean she’s working as hired help?”
Tina told him what she’d seen. “You’ve gone overboard this time. Though she’s sucking up to you, you can’t just treat her like this-”
Everything else she said after that fell on deaf ears.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
All that occupied Hansel’s mind was that Miranda was now working as hired help to earn money. It seemed that she dared not use the 50 million dollars, even after cashing the check he’d given her.
He loosened his tie as his gaze became more profound. He had an
indescribable expression.
Ha! Miranda had left without hesitation, so he’d thought she’d worked something out. But now, it turned out that she could barely survive without.
him.
“Hans, what are you spaging out for? It’s your turn,” Sam reminded, pointing at the dice in Hansel’s hands.
“I’m leaving.” Picking up his coat and car keys, Hansel turned to leave.
“Weren’t you the one who suggested meeting up?” Sam was dumbfounded.
Hansel replied, “Not anymore. I have other matters to attend to.”
Would Miranda finally beg him to take her home?
Hansel waited in his car. Other than two calls and a bunch of messages related to work, he hadn’t received the call he’d been waiting for. He decided to take action and drove toward Winter’s condo.
Miranda had no one to turn to in Duncherton City. Whenever they’d fought, she’d gone to Winter’s. He’d picked her up from Winter’s place multiple times. As such, he didn’t even need help from the navigation app to find Winter’s condo.
“Hansel?”
Just as Hansel got out of his car, someone called out his name. He turned to
see Winter holding a young man’s arm. She seemed to be heading home.
“What are you doing here?” Winter eyed him warily.
“Where’s Miranda?”
“What do you want?”
“I’m asking you where Miranda is.” He sounded impatient.
Winter was a bold and frivolous woman. Hansel had a bad impression of her. He’d reminded Miranda to stay away from Winter, lest she was influenced by the latter’s crude ways.
However, Miranda, who’d always obeyed him, had defied him on this. Because of that, his impression of Winter had worsened.
Winter wasn’t going to yield. “Mister, just to be clear, you two have broken up. Who are you to demand her whereabouts?”
Hansel smirked. “And how many times have we broken up? Can you even keep count?
“So what?”
“There’s no use stopping me from seeing her. You’re playing the bad guy in
vain” After all, Miranda would beg to bury the hatchet in the end.
His arrogance and egoistic attitude angered Winter. “Is Mimi’s dignity worth nothing to you? So much so that you think you can neglect her or call her back whenever you want to? You don’t think of her as someone you should cherish since she’s unimportant to you.”
Hansel didn’t want to listen to her nonsense. “I’ll look for her myself if you don’t tell me where she is.”
At that moment, the young man beside Winter, Marshall Gray, stepped forward and stood in Hansel’s way. “Sir, it’s wrong to enter someone’s residence without permission.”
Hansel didn’t even spare him a glance. He merely cast a glare at Winter. Smirking, he nodded. “I won’t forget this. Still, there’s no use stopping me. She’ll eventually run back to me like an obedient lamb.”
