hen she left, He went crazy

Chapter 21 You Weren’t Genuinely Intending to Get a Divorce

I thought for a minute; I found it laughable.

On my wedding night, I was the one left behind. Christopher was absent for several of my birthdays. The gifts I wanted were given to Evelyn.

Even on my prenatal check-up days, he went to accompany Evelyn.

Now that we have reached the point of divorce, and my friends were here throwing me a party, which seemed.

unbearable to him.

I forced a bitter smile and looked down at him. “If you don’t leave, I’ll call Evelyn.”

Once Evelyn came to confront him, he would have to compromise.

Christopher, suddenly tightening his hand around my waist, pressed his forehead against my chest. With a hoarse voice, he murmured, “Hope, I never thought things would go this way.”

At that moment, I found it hard to remain unaffected by his words.

I was about to speak when his phone began to ring. The caller ID boldly showed “Evelyn.”

As a sudden splash of cold water hit me, making me shiver, I instantly snapped awake and pushed him away. “Someone’s calling for you.”

Coincidentally, Cecil walked out from the kitchen.

“Hope, I’ve almost finished tidying up. I’ll take Ivan back home first.”

“I’ll see you both out.”

I glanced at the tall figure on the balcony taking the call, suppressing the inexplicable irritation welling up inside me.

After I brought Elissa into the bedroom, I helped Cecil carry the unconscious Ivan downstairs. However, Cecil didn’t let me do any of the heavy lifting.

His gentle expression held a hint of warmth as he asked, ‘Hope, are you alright?

“What?”

I paused, then realized that Cecil had noticed my unsettled mood. I shook my head. “I’m fine.”

It was only in the elevator that I recalled he had also had a few drinks.

Did you call for a designated driver? If not, I can get one for you.”

“Don’t worry, I’ve taken care of it.”

Cecil smiled softly and paused for a moment in silence. Before the elevator doors opened, he inquired, “Are you and Christopher getting a divorce?-

I nodded. “Yes, we are getting a divorce.”

“Think carefully don’t let yourself regret it later,” he advised in a gentle tone.

“I won’t regret it,” I replied earnestly.

After mentioning the divorce, I wondered if I would regret my decision.

Every time, my answer remained the same: I won’t regret it.

“That’s good.” Cecil, after a moment of contemplation, replied.

As the elevator doors opened, I started walking towards the parking lot, pondering as I asked, “Cecil, how did you know what flavors of food I like?”

While Cecil and I were familiar with each other, we never having dined together privately.

“I did treat you to meals a couple of times during college days. Have you forgotten?” he chuckled.

“What?”

I was momentarily stunned. Then it clicked. “Was it the time I fainted from low blood sugar, and Christopher had you guys get me food?”

If this had come up during our college days, I might have felt a bit sensitive.

But that was all in the past. I have grown and gained enough resilience to recall that chapter of the past with openness and gratitude.

“Christopher?” Cecil asked instinctively. Then, he chuckled, Ah, yes. I discovered your taste preferences at that time.”

“You’re so thoughtful,” I grinned.

Thinking back, when it was Cecil’s turn to get me food, it always suited my taste perfectly.

It was rare to find a guy so thoughtful like that.

I looked gratefully at Cecil. “Cecil, thanks a lot.”

At that time, I had no choice. Even if I had money in my hands, I could only frugally choose the cheapest dishes. As for whether they suited my taste, I didn’t care.

However, thanks to Cecil’s thoughtfulness and consideration, I could have meals that suited my taste even in the most difficult times.

Do you really want to thank me?”

We walked to the car. Cell put Ivan Into the hack seat, Leaning against the car, he looked down and smiled at me,

I nodded. Of course

Don’t say thank you to ine in the future,” Cecil said with a smile, catching me off guard.

However before I could think deeply, he smiled and added, “It sounds too formal.”

“Okay. Just then, the designated driver arrived.

Handing over the keys, Cecil whispered, “I’m leaving. You go upstalts,”

By the time I went upstairs, the living room was empty. Christopher had alrendy left.

My heart seemed to skip a beat. But just one beat.

He left without saying anything, which was always his style.

I thought there might be some urgent matter’ on Evelyn’s end, as usual.

I returned to the bedroom and gently patted Elissa. “Elissa, wake up. I’ll change your pajamas for you so you can sleep

more comfortably.”

Okay.”

Elissa squinted her eyes slightly. When she saw it was me, she playfully raised her hands to hug me, letting me take off her top. She murmured, “Hope, my dear Hope, no one is allowed to bully you.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle. “Are you being silly?”

The next day.

When I woke up, Elissa was no longer in bed.

There was a faint noise coming from the living room.

I walked to the door, feeling tired, and glanced inside. Elissa was practicing yoga.

When she saw me getting up, she maintained her pose, slightly lifted her chin, and proudly asked, “Do I look beautiful?”Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

“Yes, you are the most beautiful,” I replied, smiling.

Elissa was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. People would be amazed and admire her beauty at first sight.

At this moment, she was wearing yoga clothes, showcasing her curvy and voluptuous figure.

Elissa nodded in satisfaction. “Hope, you have good taste.”

I chuckled and went into the bathroom to freshen up.

As I was doing my makeup, Elissa finished her yoga session. She ran in and stared at my empty earlobes. “Where are those earrings from last night?”

“In the drawer.” I remarked casually, gesturing towards the spot as I groomed my eyebrows.

She took them out, put them on my ears, and said, These rubies really suit your temperament.”

“What kind of temperament do I have?” I asked jokingly.

“You are composed, confident, and graceful,” she complimented.

I teased her while looking into her captivating eyes, “With compliments like that, I might just fall for you,”

“If I could make you give up Christopher for love, I’d be willing to be with you,” she said playfully.

“That’s a bit much, I laughed.

When I tried to take off the earrings, she stopped me, looking pleased. “Don’t take them off. They look so good on

you!”

“Alright, I’ll listen to you,” I said as I let my hair down and covered the earrings. There was no other reason; they were just too expensive, and I was afraid of being robbed.

After we arrived at the company, Elissa and I parted ways in the elevator lobby and went straight to our respective departments to work.

However, before I could even start up my computer, someone walked in.

Only Evelyn had such good manners’ in the entire design department-no, in the whole company.

“Was Chris with you last night?” she asked.

I was puzzled. Leaning back in my chair, I looked at Evelyn strangely. “You should know where he was last night better

than I do.”

Wasn’t she the one who called Christopher away?

“Stop pretending. You are not truly serious about getting a divorce,” Evelyn said as she closed the door.

Her demeanor remained gentle, but her eyes held a hint of malice. “Do you even know why Chris married you? Do you think he really listens to his grandfather like that?”
