Chapter 1241 How To Win Cecilia Over
There’s a popular saying online: I still believe in love, but don’t believe it will ever happen to me.
This sentiment resonated deeply with Cecilia at that moment.
Particularly after Nathaniel mentioned Calvin, Nicholas, and Eric, an unsettling chill gripped her.
She sensed Nathaniel’s feelings for her but wondered if this affection was merely superficial.
Trust had never been a stronghold in their relationship, and she struggled to believe that Nathaniel could truly be devoted to her. Likewise, Nathaniel didn’t fully trust her, fearing she might gravitate toward Calvin or the others.
“You’re such an amazing person. How could you lack confidence? To me, you’re better than so many others,” Madeline remarked, gazing into Cecilia’s eyes filled with admiration.
The fact that Cecilia could single–handedly raise two sons, write music, and even establish her own company was a testament to her extraordinary capabilities.
“I suppose I lack confidence in love,” Cecilia responded with a wry grin.
She had never truly experienced a relationship before her marriage.
Even during that time, she found herself tied to the wrong person. As a result, she never tasted the joy of newlywed bliss or felt the thrill of being in love.
Now, fear had taken root within her.
Madeline, though somewhat perplexed, respected Cecilia’s feelings. “Ceci, you must believe in yourself. regardless of everything. I think you’re wonderful, and I aspire to be as independent as you.”
Madeline didn’t want to repeat the past when she had been so dependent on Darren, even after she managed to escape. “You know, when I ran away from Darren a couple of years ago, I thought I could manage on my own, but I nearly got sold. I was terrified. In the end, Darren came and rescued me.”
Cecilia listened quietly as Madeline, with a bitter smile, continued, “But do you know what’s the most ironic part of it all?”
“What is it?”
“He told me he orchestrated everything. He wanted me to experience the harshness of the world. He claimed that without him, I wouldn’t be able to survive Madeline clenched her fists tightly, unable to shake off the anger that bubbled up at the memory.
At that moment, Madeline felt utterly helpless. All she could do was harbor resentment toward Darren for his words and actions, yet she felt powerless to change anything.
Cecilia was taken aback to learn that Darren hadn’t changed at all.
“He’s truly gone too far.” She reached out to embrace Madeline. What he did to her was gaslighting.
Madeline nodded. “That’s why I must divorce him. I don’t want to be with him. I don’t want my future. daughter to have a father like him.”
Cecilia gently patted her shoulder.
Before long, Madeline realized she had inadvertently made the conversation about herself. “I was supposed to be the one comforting you. How did it end up with you comforting me?”
Cecilia chuckled softly. “It’s therapeutic for both of us, isn’t it?”
Madeline wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes and nodded in response.
After Lucille and Charlotte finally finished their bath, they emerged from the bathroom to find Cecilia and Madeline in tears.
Bewildered, they asked, “What’s wrong?”

What neither Cecilia nor Madeline realized was that Elliot had been surreptitiously listening to their
conversation.
He finally understood why Cecilia was hesitant to reconcile with Nathaniel. It stemmed from Nathaniel’s inability to trust her and his failure to provide a sense of security.
While others might not have a clear grasp of the situation, Elliot was well aware of the dynamics at play. During Cecilia’s time abroad, no matter how challenging things became, she never resorted to underhanded tactics to help her rise to the top.
Cecilia’s exceptional beauty had captivated numerous foreign admirers, yet she had firmly rejected them all.
When it was time to sleep in the late evening, Elliot discreetly made a phone call to Nathaniel, ready to offer him some advice on how to win Cecilia over.
