Thirteen
Silence
**
Ruby pov
I can’t talk to Klaus.
I… I want to speak to him. I’m freaked out about this, too freaked out to go back or reach out to mysell, which means this may be my only chance to get some closure.
But Kelly won’t ever forgive me if I answer this phone. Everything will be over between us.
I just wanted to say ‘screw you’ one last time,” I say lightly, praying that Kelly believes the lie. Thank god he can’t read my mind as Klaus can. “But let it ring. Better to leave him hanging.
“Much better,” Kelly agrees, tossing the phone onto the bed.
I gasp as he presses the dildo into me. I’d almost forgotten what I was doing bent over the desk, but it comes back to me in full force now.
I thrust my ass back, relishing in the feeling of my pussy stretching. Kelly thrusts slowly in and out, his fingers trailing over my ass as he does so.
Faster.” Kelly obliges, using the dildo to bring me right to the point of release.
He knows when I’m getting close, and pulls it out. The wet sucking noise it makes as it comes out is both filthy and delicious at the same time.
Kelly doesn’t leave me empty for long. He thrusts his cock into me and starts moving. As always, he goes softer than I’d prefer, but memories of the last time I was bent over a desk like this come quickly.
In my mind, I’m not here anymore. I’m at Vamp Investments, and Klaus is pounding me into the desk so hard that it leaves marks on my hips for hours afterward.
I love every second of it.
Kelly flips me around to kiss me, holding me at an awkward angle, but I’m too turned on to care. Our lips meet and we thrash against each other, both desperate for release.
Kelly comes first, breaking away from our kiss and pressing his lips into my neck as he cries out. He pulls out a moment later.
I’m so desperate to come, I’m whimpering in frustration. I lay my front back down on the desk.
“Kelly… the dildo.”
Oh- oh yeah, right.”
The divine dildo returns. The angle Will holds it at is just brushing my G-spot and it’s perfect.
A minute later, I come hard, biting my tongue to stop myself from crying out Klaus’s name.
Kelly thrusts a few more times before pulling the dildo out, leaving me near senseless, sprawled across the desk.
He comes back shortly afterward with a damp cloth. I take it gratefully, smiling as I clean up. We wordlessly go to the bed. Kelly knows exactly what I’m thinking.
We lie together, and Kelly pulls the blankets over both of us. “I love you.
I love you,” I reply. I’ll worry about my guilt later.
I still have feelings for Klaus, not to mention that I just fantasized about him while sleeping with Kelly
It’s a problem for another day. At least my life is back on track now.
Ethan Klaus pov.
I clench my fist around the iron ball. I got it from a blacksmith after Katherine complained about the number of times the carpenter was coming in to repair splintered parts of my desk.
The metal doesn’t yield to my vampire strength, but squeezing it does little to soothe my temper.
Amelia pokes her head timidly through the door. “Mr. Ethan? Katherine sent me in here to check if you’re ok.”
Ha, as if. More likely, Katherine sent her in here to tell me to get my head out of the clouds and back to work, but she couldn’t send that message with Amelia.
I open my mouth to say I’m fine, but that’s not what comes out. “Two weeks!”I burst out. “Two weeks, and nothing but silence from her!”
Though she looks like she might bolt at any second, to her credit, Amelia comes inside and closes the door.
Two weeks isn’t unusual for someone who’s just been let in on the secret. I disappeared for five weeks before I calmed down enough to come back. Hardly anyone does less than one.
Except those who don’t come back at all.”
“I don’t think Ruby will be one of those, sir. She’s devoted to.. to Vamp Investments.”
She’s devoted to you.
I smile at that. Amelia knows I can read her thoughts, of course, and she blushes. “Don’t tell her I said that.”
“You know company policy. A vampire may not reveal anything that they learned from a human’s thoughts without permission.”
Amelia nods, relieved to get the reminder. I understand her hesitance. Some other vampire clans think that humans are beneath them and treat them as little more than animals.
Humans always have to worry about vampire leaders changing their minds and deciding to abuse them. It’s not like a human has any way to fight back against one of us.
You may go, Amelia.”
Yes, Mr. Ethan.”
As she leaves, I check my phone again.
You’re acting like a lovestruck, adolescent, Klaus. It’s pathetic.
That thought isn’t enough to stop me. Still nothing from Ruby.
The rest of the day passes as all others have for the past two weeks – slowly.
The office seems so empty without her. I should have treated her better. I pushed her away and acted like a dick toward her as I do with everyone else. My past is no excuse. It’s my fault she’s gone.
The ringing of my phone shakes me out of my dismal thoughts. I answer dully without looking at the screen.
“Hello.”
Klaus?”
I almost drop the phone in surprise, which is not something that happens to a vampire. often. “Ruby!”
Um… hi.”
Now that I’m talking to her, I suddenly realize I don’t know what to say. Judging by the awkward silence, Ruby feels the same.
It’s not easy for me to apologize, but for Ruby, I will make the effort. “I’m so sorry – for everything. I wish… I wish things were different.”
So… there’s no hope for us?”
What? No, that’s not what I’m saying at all!”Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
She still has hope for us? That’s more than I imagined in even my most optimistic Scenarios.
“Look, I know I just kind of disappeared on you, but if you’re still willing to have me, I’d like to come back to work.”
Of course! Can you start tomorrow?”
Well, that was easy.”
I’ve been hoping you’d call,” I admit. Your disappearance is understandable.”
Thanks, Klaus. I’ll see you tomorrow, then.”
By the time the next morning rolls around, I’ve managed to compose myself. I only arrive at work ten minutes early, to find Ruby sitting at her usual desk. I tilt my head toward my office, and she follows me
inside.
Ruby fiddles with her nails. “I’m sorry left.”
“Don’t be sorry. I’m just glad you’re back.”
She’s clearly uncomfortable.
I’ve done this enough times that I know what to say to make her feel better.
I know what I told you is a lot to take in. If you’re going to continue working here, I want you to feel comfortable. If you have any more questions, you are welcome to come and ask me at any time.”
My voice sounds too formal as I rattle out the well-rehearsed line.
Thanks. I was wondering more about the ritual.”
I try not to get too excited. She may not want to participate. “We’re having one tomorrow night. How about you come and watch?
“I can do that?”
Of course. If you’d like to watch, you’ll need to email me the observer form when you get home. Once you’ve watched one, you’re allowed to participate, and you need to email the participant form from home. I’ll
send you the templates.”
Ruby nods. I can tell that she wants to ask something, but she’s hesitant.
What is it?”
I hear the thought in her mind, but don’t answer it, letting her speak it herself.
Humans tend to find it unnerving when we answer their thoughts directly.
Almost all the fiction on vampires says that they’re immortal, but I’m not sure how much fiction I can believe.”
That part is true. We are immortal.” I wait for her to finish the thought.
Is that something you ever… gift other humans with? Immortality?
“Some View vampirism more like a curse than a gift, but yes, it is something we do occasionally if the humans want it. It’s something I consider very carefully before doing, though, as it can’t be undone.”
Her thoughts are positively tantalizing images of the two of us living together, side by side. She’s not willing to share those yet, though, so I try not to dwell on it.
The elevator opens, and I recognize Katherine by the sound of her footsteps. Shit.
“Think of something else,” I hiss at Ruby. If Katherine hears you -”
Ruby goes white, but her thoughts only get stronger. She doesn’t know how to control them.
Katherine’s footsteps coming toward us.
