The Unwilling CEO’s Love Game

Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Seeing his silence, hope sparked in Willow’s eyes as she asked. “You still have feelings for me, right? Otherwise, why have you never acknowledged Jocelyn as your girlfriend? You’ve never even taken her to meet your friends. Melvin, I don’t care how long you’ve been with her. Can you break up with her?” Willow’s eyes were filled with hope, her tone.

pleading

Melvin stared at her for a long while, his silence accelerating Willow’s heartbeat.

Then he suddenly stood up, walked to the door, and there was Zephyr, on the other side.

Zephyr cenpinly did not expect Melvin to open the door so abruptly, he swore he’d heard nothing, just heeding Jocelyn’s

Hey, are you leaving? Zephyr called out to Melvin’s retreating, aloof figure, “Lunch together?”

Melvin ignored him

With a sigh, Zephyr walked into the room and asked, “What were you talking about?”

He jumped when his gaze fell on Willow, “Why are you crying? He quickly set down the fruit basket and handed her a

tissue.

Willow took the tissue, choking up, “Does he hate me?

“Huh? Zephyr was puzzled, “Why would he hate you? If he did, he wouldn’t be thinking about collaborating with you.”

Willow took a deep breath, “But his attitude towards me…”

Zephyr tried to soothe her, “That’s just how he is with everyone. Don’t overthink it. And, don’t rush things. You’re back. now, and there’s plenty of time.”

“If he didn’t have another woman, I wouldn’t be in such a hurry.” Willow sniffed, deflated, “That woman, she’s been with him for three years.

Zephyr didn’t have much to say on that matter

Friends for years, he too couldn’t figure out what Melvin’s deal with Jocelyn was.

To say that he liked her, Melvin never brought her around to meet his friends, let alone share a meal. Yet, he’s been with Jocelyn for three years, going on four.

Even a pet cat or dog would grow on you, let alone a woman you sleep with every day.

Who knows what’s going on in his head?

Stepping out of the hospital, Melvin instantly spotted Jocelyn by his car. No matter how plain her clothes, she seemed to have a halo, always catching his eye.

Jocelyn was kicking a pebble around, just wondering how much longer Melvin could hang out there.

Shiny shoes entered her view; she looked up, right into those inscrutable eyes.

She smiled at him and said, “That was quick

Melvin knew her game, opening the car door “You’ve revealed your ambitions.”

Jocelyn hesitated getting into the car, then slipped into the passenger seat and shut the door, buckling up. “Ambitions? What ambitions could I possibly have?”

Jocelyn, I don’t like these little games you play.” Melvin said calmly as he drove.

Jocelyn gripped the seat belt tightly, taking a deep breath. “I guess I’m not that generous.”

This is my normal social life.” Melvin glanced at her. “There’s gonna be a lot more of this kind of thing to come. You gonna butt in every time?”

Jocelyn was already feeling pretty lousy inside.

Anyone else was fine, but not Willow.

Willow had made it crystal clear that she was out to snag her man.

*So what you’re saying is ! should just turn a blind eye, right?” Jocelyn looked at him. “My boyfriend is meeting up with a women who’s not only got the hots for him but has also corne right up to my face and declared she’s gonna steal my man, and I’m supposed to act like it doesn’t faze me Is that what you mean?”

Melvin frowned tightly.

Jocelyn took a deep breath and asked him, feeling rather dejected, “In the end, I have no right to be jealous, right?”

I don’t like being controlled Melvin stated coolly Nor being followed.”

Jocelyn was so mad she actually laughed

Suddenly, she felt like anything she said was superfluous. In the end, she had no right to question anything about him.

it had always been her, reading too much into things, misunderstanding his intentions.

Their so-called relationship only existed when it was just the two of them.

“Fine. Pull over, please

“Don’t make a scene Melvin shot her a look. You’re an adult, so act like one.

Jocelyn had already unbuckled her seat belt, her tone steady, “I’m perfectly calm. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have intruded. Please pull over I’m getting out

Melvin narrowed his eyes but still pulled the car over.

Jocelyn pushed the door open, stepped out, and walked away without looking back, slamming the car door behind her

Melvin didn’t come back home that night.
