The Untouchable Ex-Wife

Chapter 2098

Chapter 2098

They carried Renee to their tribe in the dark while singing a war song.

There were thatched cottages with many human or animal skulls hanging at the front. The women had thick and heavy ivory bone locks on their mouths. It seemed they were prohibited from speaking casually. It was clear that they were inferior compared to the men.

A campfire had been lit at the center, while a group of people danced merrily around the fire. Nearby, someone was bowing while sharpening a knife using a sharpening stone.

Renee was carried there. By this point, she had come up with her last words.

'Damn it!" she thought 'I've thought of the many ways I might die, but I never expected barbarians catching me like prey and sharing me among them!'

"Hey, why don't you reconsider this? Human flesh isn't tasty at all! Plus, it comes with prions. If you eat me, your whole tribe will be infected and killed! I'll give you money and let you have roast lamb instead. That'll taste much better!

As they were about to burn her over a fire, Renee thought of the roast lamb. Fear gripped her as she kept screaming and struggling.

However, these people didn't understand her language. Even if they did, they wouldn't listen to her. On the contrary, her fear would excite them more.

Soon they tied her up over the fire. The great fire burned her, filling her with immense pain.

"He's going to cut her soon!" People danced merrily at the man who was sharpening the knife.

Finally, the man finished sharpening the knife. The sharp blade shone, and the man's eyes gleamed wickedly as he was about to cut Renee's throat.

"Oh, I'm doomed!" Renee cried, closing her eyes.

Scenes flashed before her eyes as she recalled her chaotic and messy life. She felt fine even if she was to be killed there and then. Even so, she couldn't bear to leave her children.

"Adie, Abby, you must be good! I've wronged you. I'll be your mother again in my next life!"

At that critical moment, she heard various gunshots. When she opened her eyes, she saw that the man with the knife had been shot in the back of his head. He fell to the ground, motionless.

The other men were shot too. All of them fell to the ground.

Renee tried her best to turn around; she saw people in camouflage outfits from the direction the gunshots came from. They were armed, and quickly surrounded the area.

Liam and Leia rushed over, rescuing Renee from the fire.

"Ren, are you okay? Does it hurt a lot? Your skin's red from being burned!" Leia couldn't stop crying when she saw how miserable Renee looked. "It's all my fault! I shouldn't have left you alone. If only I had come earlier. You wouldn't have suffered so much!"

Renee didn't have much energy left in her. She grabbed Leia and said, "Stop crying. You guys came in time. If you were late, I'd be roasted."

Then she looked at Liam, who was right by Leia's side. From what she remembered, he was an immature man who always followed her.

But now, he was different. His skin was tanner, and his gaze looked firmer. He appeared firm and steady-he had grown into a mature man.

"You aren't being a good friend. You didn't inform me about your wedding. You even stopped Lei from telling me.This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

You don't want to tell me even if you have kids, do you?" Renee asked.

Liam pursed his lips, silent. He frowned and touched her flushed arms gently. "It hurts a lot, doesn't it?"

"Isn't that obvious? Try and see how much it hurts if you're being roasted over the fire for more than ten minutes," Renee replied.

"I'm sorry I got here late." Liam took a deep breath, filled with guilt. He blamed himself.

Without any hesitation, he carried Renee and left the tribal area quickly.
