Chapter Twenty One
Reese sat agitated next to me in the taxi. My mind still confused about what was happening. We were leaving in such a rush. What happened? the sudden force he had come bursting in through the apartment door said it was not anything good. Just moments ago we had planned to stay for a bit and now this sudden change of events has taken a toll and he’s dragging me with no explanation whatsoever. Here we were in an awkward silence. His fingers tapping his knee in impatience. His hands kept on going through his hair. His eyes focused on one spot as though burning a hole.
What in the goddess’s name was going on?
“Okay, that is it! What the hell is up with you?” I snapped. “First you drag me with no explanation, then you blatantly ignore my questions. just what is going on Reese?” I questioned.
“We have to leave, He’s here.” he said. Yes, I know my father is here, but what more is there? What more is he hiding?
“Reese, you’re not telling me something. Tell me exactly what’s the matter. I know you’re not only worried about my father, but you’re worried about something else. Tell me.” I said softly as I held his face in my hands.
his eyes locked with mine as he side, pulling away from me and looking out the window. He opened his mouth to say something but nothing was coming out. He looked speechless and baffled. He looked as if he were battling whatever was inside him.
“Nothing.” were his simple words. Did he not trust me? Or did he do something that he knows will hurt me? I couldn’t help but let an anger spark in me, knowing he was treating me this way. I wasn’t some kind of toy.
“Do you not trust me?” I asked. He kept quiet looking out his window.
He didn’t reply.
He didn’t even look at Me.
Makes me wonder if it was the right choice to give him a chance.
We reached the airport as Reese rushed out grabbing our small bags from the taxi’s trunk. He grabbed my hand dragging me to the terminal. I pulled my hand out of his, glaring at him. right now he had no right to touch me. if there was no trust there was no need to be in any physical contact. realizing my anger he sighed as we continued to walk.
“Yes, hello, I booked a ticket under Gold.” he said. The man looked at him and looked down to search for the ticket.
“Yes, I’ll print that out for now, you and you can head over there, till it is your turn to board.” the man said as he then handed our tickets and stood as they called row after row.
when it was our turn, Reese ushered me forward as his eyes seemed to constantly wander around. who exactly was he looking for? my father? we boarded and found our seats as we sat down. the pricing atmosphere quite suffocating. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
“Reese, please, tell me what’s going on.” I pleaded with him. I seriously hate being kept in the dark.
“Look, right now, Colleen, all you have to know for now is, it’s not safe. We have to keep look out. For all I know he’s still looking for us. I don’t want you stressing yourself or the baby.” he said.
“But wouldn’t he just kill me if that was the case, since he has a strand of my hair with him?” I asked honestly.
“That would be what I would expect too, not that I would let him, but He won’t do it. He’s after something else and he needs you to achieve it. I just can’t seem to pinpoint out what exactly it is he is aiming for.” he said bothered as his jaw ticked. I feel like a tool.
“Reese, You are hiding something else from and for some reason it’s something you don’t want to say, what did you do or more what did he say. did you meet him?” I asked him.
“No, I didn’t.” he admitted.
“So how do you n=know he’s after us? if he really did have a strand of my hair he would kill me, so why isn’t he. how did you know he was there?” I questioned.
“I-“he cut himself of
“Were you lying to me?”
He stared at me in disbelief. “No, I wouldn’t lie about something like that, why would you-” he cut himself short as if remembering something.
“Why would I what Reese? What is it you’re not telling me?” I questioned him.
He shook his head as he turned to me, looking me in the eyes. His face turning serious. “Listen to me and listen to me good Colleen. You absolutely CANNOT afford to doubt anything I say. No matter how much you hate me or can’t believe me, don’t doubt me just trust me. Understand?” he said.
I nodded simply. But deep down I know it can’t be. I’ve lost my will to trust him. I don’t know why, but I can’t. He can hurt me anytime; he can do anything. I don’t know if what he told me was the truth, or why we’re leaving do dangerous. I honestly want to trust and to forgive him, but a part of male refuses to. And I don’t know why.
I looked away from him with a sigh. He nodded and looked away as he made a phone call. My mind began to drift away.
“excuse me.” he excused himself. Soon he came back with a relieved face and the flight began and we were off. All I seemed to think about was, why the hell all of this was happening.
The flight was freaking 11 hours long with no stops and when we had finally reached I couldn’t have been much happier. We got off and headed out of the airport. I guess I’m back. I’m home. Soon Reese grabbed my hand and walked in a total opposite direction.
“Reese, what are you-” he cut me off.
“keep your head low and keep close. He’s right there.” I turned slightly only to see the man I hated and still hate and will forever hate. Standing with a smirk.
My father.
