Chapter 111: He’s Alive
“Boss, all the accounts in charge of Lily’s case received a court notice,” a middle-aged man announced as he walked into the dimly lit office with several computers and a wild-haired lady sitting in front of them with several empty coffee cups littering the whole table.
“From who?” Kayla, the lady and the journalist who took the picture of Lily and Mark in the restaurant, asked, her voice laced with exhaustion as she turned to face the middle-aged man. Her eyes were bloodshot and sagging from sleepless nights and stress.
“It’s from Bryan Roux,” he replied, and Kayla shivered in fear as she let out a frustrated groan.
Somehow she had been trying to avoid confrontation with the gentle-looking devil. Which was why she never focused on him too much when writing the article about Lily’s relationship scandal.
However, she should have known better than to think she’d be able to walk away with mentioning his name.
Anyone in the media sector or anyone with working brain cells in the business world knows not to go against the Roux family.NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
Although they are an international family, their influence on the world economy is one that can’t be disputed.
Their reputation in the country was just a little short of Watson’s reputation, and that was because their business chain wasn’t as stable here as it is in other parts of the world due to the influence of the Watson group.
However, refusing the offer was something she couldn’t do; not only did it pay well, but the other party had some dirt about her dark past. Things she never wants out in the open.
Letting out a sigh, she turned back to the computers with a complicated expression.
“Let everyone back down for now; we’ve done enough,” she instructed. “Send a few of them to apologise publicly and delete their post, but leave the others there.”
“Our aim was to stir the trouble waters for her; since we started, some other people will definitely take it up from here,” she pointed out.
As the middle-aged man turned to leave, Kayla received a message from her anonymous client. As she read the text, her hands trembled and her mouth became dry.
She slammed the phone onto the table, gritting her teeth. She called the man back.
“We’ll still keep on targeting Lily, but leave the Roux out of it,” she ordered.
Kayla’s eyes blazed with fury as she swept her arm across the table, sending everything crashing to the floor.
Her gaze locked onto Lily’s image on the screen, her hatred undisguised. A string of venomous curses spewed from her lips as her face twisted in a snarl.
Her veins bulged, and her knuckles turned white as she gripped the table, her fingers trembling with rage.
For a moment, she froze, her eyes fixed on the cracked phone screen. Then, a maniacal laugh burst out of her lips, her eyes flashing with a fierce intensity.
“I’ll ruin you,” she threatened and stormed into the inner room connected to the office.

“You look like you are about to skin someone alive.” Dexter, Mark’s childhood friend, noted as he walked into Mark’s office to see him scowling at his computer screen. “Is this about your girlfriend having another man?”
“She doesn’t” Mark snapped; realising what he did, he let out a sigh and combed his finger through his hair.
At first, when the news about him being Lily’s sugar daddy came out, he felt somehow excited.
Something about being someone she could rely on made him happy; however, all the happiness he felt disappeared the moment he read the remaining part of the slander post.
Being in the business world, he had met Bryan Roux on several occasions, and he could tell the other was more focused on business than himself, which meant there was no way he could be in a relationship with Lily, who was also a business maniac.
However, the more he stared at the picture of Bryan and Lily standing together, the more his blood boiled for some unknown reason.
“You trust her so much?” Dexter asked in surprise and Mark rolled his eyes.
“Someone is targeting her, and the more I try to trace the source, the more widespread it becomes,” Mark explained. “I feel like the person behind this is watching my every move.”
“I can help you deal with them… but for a price,” Dexter offered with a cheeky smile, making Mark raise his brows suspiciously.
“Saying that makes me think you started it,” he muttered.
“I’m not that jobless,” Dexter replied with a scowl. “Besides, do you think I like seeing you single and wasting away?”
Mark rolled his eyes at the last comment and asked. “What’s the offer?”
“I want to work on your next project,” Dexter announced, making Mark lean back in his seat with a thoughtful expression.
“Didn’t you say you don’t want to work for corporate businesses?” He asked.
“I’m not working for you full-time, of course. I just need an opportunity to learn from Sinful as Vengeful, not as Dexter.” Dexter replied.
“You are still on this? I introduced you two, didn’t I?”
Dexter sighed, feeling aggrieved and defeated. “I’ve been trying to get them to be my mentor, but they refuse, always busy with what and what’s not, and then I noticed all your projects have their signatures; that’s why I’m here!”
“In all my life and career as the almighty Vengeful giving vengeance on the website, I’ve never been aggrieved like this,” he complained, “But I get it, experts don’t have enough time to look at the likes of us. But you do, so help me.”
“Well then, I’ll let you in on the current project; in return, you’ll investigate both the current scandal and the person behind that social media influence post about Lily,” Mark offered, and Dexter grinned.
“Cool, if you go back on your word, I’ll come for you big time.” He threatened playfully, a grin playing on his lips.
His playful expressions disappeared as he leaned back into the chair, legs crossed. “Anyway, I’m here for another reason,” he announced with a serious tone.
“I found some traces from the accident,” he reported. “And also the current location of that driver’s family, and guess what?” Dexter asked with a smirk.
“What?”
“I asked you to guess.”
“I don’t have the time.”
“Boring,” Dexter replied with a snort. “Anyways, I found out that the driver is still alive.”
