The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret

Chapter 383 A Humble Promise

Nathaniel had never shown such patience while buying anything before.

In the past, he would leave such tasks to Koen and others without a second thought.

This time, however, he insisted on handling it himself to show his respect for his mother-in-law.

The clerk, surprised by Nathaniel's eagerness, noted the ongoing gossip about the Morgan and Gomez families.

With a knowing smile, the clerk suggested, "If that's the case, Mr. Nathaniel, you can choose from carnations, lilies, roses, tulips, or calla lilies. It depends on which flowers your mother-in-law prefers."

"I'd recommend carnations for expressing gratitude to your mother, and lilies for wishing her well," the clerk continued.

Nathaniel selected a generous bouquet of carnations and lilies, along with the roses intended for Frey, and asked the clerk to trim and package them carefully.noveldrama

Meanwhile, Koen waited by the car. Seeing Mr. Nathaniel's dedication to honoring his mother-in-law, it was clear that as subordinates, they should stay out of the way.

After some time, Nathaniel came out with a bouquet in hand, holding Frey's hand as they approached the car.

Watching Nathaniel lovingly clutching the bouquet and Frey's hand, Koen felt a pang of envy.

In all the years he had worked for Nathaniel, he had never seen him this happy.

It was clear that Nathaniel's longstanding grudge against the Gomez family had finally been set aside, and that was a positive development. Koen opened the car door for them. Nathaniel placed the flowers on the front seat and joined Frey in the back row, still holding her hand tightly, as if afraid she might slip away.

As the car made its way to East Saeville Nursing Home, the night deepened.

The staff rushed out to greet them, but Nathaniel instructed them to go about their business and not to disturb them.

They respectfully left them outside Linda's ward.

Frey's heart raced as she saw Nathaniel enter the ward first.

Nathaniel took Frey's hand and

walked into the room where Linda lay quietly, seemingly trapped in a timeless state of suspended reality.

Nathaniel placed the flowers in a vase and then, unexpectedly, pulled Frey down to kneel beside Linda's bed.

Frey's palms grew sweaty, surprised by Nathaniel's sudden gesture.

Nathaniel looked at Linda's still form with intensity and spoke to Frey, though his words were meant for her ears. "Frey, something happened to Linda three years ago. I didn't think much of it at the time."

"I didn't expect that she would tant

your brother away, nor that

someone would kidnap him at ne

scene of the accident. It wasn't me, I swear it wasn't me."

Frey's brows furrowed deeply. She tried to withdraw her hand from Nathaniel's firm grip, but he held on tightly.

Nathaniel's voice carried a bitter

note. "I didn't expect our families to end up like this., I promise you right in front of your mom that I will find your brother!"

“If it takes a year, or two, or even ten or twenty years! As long as we are alive, we will keep searching!”

Frey's heart pounded as she wrestled with the truth of his words.

She chose to believe in his promise.

"Okay," Frey nodded.

Nathaniel, visibly elated by her response, felt a childlike joy. He bowed deeply before Linda.

"Linda, from now on, I promise to take good care of Frey. Don't worry!"

"We received our marriage certificates today. Please bless us both!"
