The Divorced Heiress’s Revenge

Chapter 2460

Chapter 2460

The atmosphere in the hospital room was stifling.

Mila and Quentin stood frozen, staring at Bella in utter shock.

"Ms. Bella, you... You knew all along that the boy was Young Master Hugh?" Quentin's voice trembled with disbelief.

"Yes." Bella pressed her lips together, lowering her lashes. "Last time, when Ralph took his cigarette butt for a DNA test... We already knew the results."

"So you and Ralph both knew that he was my Hugh... Yet you conspired to keep it from me?!" Mila stepped forward, her shoulders shaking, her eyes were red with restrained emotion.

A pang of guilt pierced Bella's heart. She hesitated before whispering, "Aunt Mila, I'm sorry ... If you must blame someone, blame me. It was my idea-it had nothing to do with Ralph."

Mila's gaze locked onto hers, unwavering. Without realizing it, tears streamed down her face.

"You have no idea what I have endured all these years without Hugh. Wyatt, Camilla, Celeste, and Sasha they all told me to let go. I forced myself to move past the grief of losing my child and accept the possibility that Hugh was gone, his body lost forever.

"But I never let go. Not for a single second. Night after night, I dreamed of Hugh standing before me, drenched from head to toe, whispering over and over, 'Mom... The water is so cold...""

A heavy sigh escaped Quentin's lips, while Bella trembled, overwhelmed with sorrow.

Mila's tears fell uncontrollably, her reddened eyes swirling with anguish. "Bella, you knew everything and still kept it from me. Do you not see how presumptuous and cruel you have been to me?"

For the first time, the woman who had treated Bella as her own daughter and spoiled Bella more than her own children raised her voice.

At this moment, pain consumed Mila, stripping away her usual composure.

"I'm sorry..." Bella apologized again, choking on her words.

"Madam Mila, I understand how you feel," Quentin interjected, unable to bear Bella being scolded. "But you have watched Ms. Bella grow up. You know what kind of person she is. She is not reckless or thoughtless. I believe she must have had her reasons for keeping it from you."

Bella's voice was hoarse with urgency. "Aunt Mila, Hugh is in great danger."

Mila's entire body tensed.

"He lost his memory after the plane crash. Right now, he is being manipulated and used. The person controlling him could take his life at any moment. If his identity is exposed or he loses that person's trust, he will be in immediate danger.

"That's the reason I kept it from you and Wyatt. I was afraid that your love for him would cloud your judgment."

Mila's heart pounded violently. Her bloodshot eyes widened. "Who is using Hugh?" Bella shook her head. "Aunt Mila, I'm sorry. For both your safety, I cannot tell you yet." "Earlier today, on the road, a group of people tried to kill Hugh... Who were they?" Mila grasped her hand tightly, her worry mounting. "If what you say is true, that the mastermind still has a use for Hugh-why would they try to kill him?"

Bella was stunned. Her gaze darkened with thought.

Hugh had not yet regained his memory, and Grant was in need of capable men. Why, then, would he try to eliminate Hugh?

Unless... There was a third force at play someone who wanted to sever Grant's right-hand man before he could be fully utilized.

The situation was far more complex than she had imagined.

A heavy weight settled over Bella's heart, but she forced herself to reassure Mila. "Aunt Mila, don't worry. Hugh is not the same as before. He is terrifyingly strong now. Not just anyone can harm him."

"Not just anyone?" Mila's voice cracked. "Do you have any idea... The doctors said that if Hugh had arrived at the hospital a moment later, he would not have survived!"

Overwhelmed, Mila could barely breathe. Bella rushed to soothe her, gently patting her back.

"Bella... I finally found Hugh. If I lose him again... I don't want to live."

"That won't happen, Aunt Mila. This time, I swear I will bring Hugh home safely!"

Just then, Mila's phone vibrated.

She glanced down.

A blinking red dot moved steadily southward on the map.

Bella's eyes widened. "Aunt Mila, this is...?"

Mila gripped the phone, her knuckles turning white.noveldrama

"While Hugh was unconscious, I installed a tracker on his phone. Savrow is too big, and I have no other way to find him. This is my only option."

Bella inhaled sharply. She could not help but marvel-Wyatt's women were truly not to be underestimated.

After disappearing from the hospital without a word, Jace wasted no time in returning to Grant to report.

The dimly lit room was silent.

Grant sat in his wheelchair with his back to him, facing the window. His reflection in the

glass was blurred, sharp, and unreadable.

"Sir, I apologize. The mission failed."

Jace stood stiffly, his face as pale as death.

Grant spoke slowly. "You have served me well for years, always reliable. So, I will give you a

chance to explain."

Jace's dark lashes trembled. He lowered his gaze.

"I was ambushed on my way there."

"Oh?" Grant turned his wheelchair slightly, his expression laced with intrigue.

"There were many of them. I was outnumbered. I took a blade to the shoulder."

Jace yanked his collar aside, exposing a jagged wound as proof.

In the dim light, Grant's gaze settled on the wound, unreadable and deep as the abyss.

"But regardless, I failed in my duty. If you wish to punish me, I accept it without complaint."

Jace's tone was steady, his posture unwavering.

"I know who was behind the attack."

Jace stiffened. "You do?"

"Their target was not you. It was me."

From his coat, Grant pulled out a single playing card-King of Spades.

With a flick of his fingers, he sent it flying to the floor at Jace's feet.
