Chapter 27
Having long mastered the an of deception, Kirsten effortlessly lied her way through.
“Oh. Mia is in Room A52 in the Hematology Department
“The online scoop’s legit, Kirsten exclaimed inwardly, schooling her features into a worried expression. “So doctor, how’s Mia holding up over here?”
“Mia’s pretty anemic, so if you can, make sure she’s eating all the right stuff to get her
strength back up.” Olivia said with genuine concern.
Kirsten gave Olivia a cordial nod, though a glint of ill–intent flashed in her eyes. She then quietly slipped off towards the Hematology wing, making a beeline for Room A52.
“Huh, seems no one here,” Kirsten murmured. She then straightening up and forced a casual stride down the hall. She stretched her neck to get a look inside the room, completely oblivious to the person standing right in front of her.
Mia had stepped our for some fresh air in the park, and on her return, she happened upon the comical scene. She suddenly reached out and tapped Kirsten on the shoulder, asking. “Excuse me, can I help you with something?”
Jeez, you nearly gave me a heart attack” Kirsten yelped, jumping a little. As she spun around and saw it was Mia, her expression froze.
“And just what are you up to!”
“Mia asked, a sarcastic smile playing on her lips.
Kirsten swallowed hard, feeling thoroughly intimidated under Mia’s piercing gaze. She clutched her bag tightly, stammering, “1–I’m just here to
a friend”
“What are you doing here?” Kirsten asked, affecting an air of innocence.
Mia simply shrugged. “Last I checked, I don’t have to run my business by you,” she fired bark.
Kirsten’s face clouded over. She was itching to let Mia have it, but something held her back.
Mia couldn’t help but delight in Kirsten’s flustered expression.
Just then, a familiar voice echoed down the corridor.
“Mart, how come I gotta transfer to a different hospital?” Elizabeth looked at Matthew, her eyes brimming with tears. “Didn’t you say Pratu Hospital is the best in the whole city“:
Hearing her soft and pleading voice, Matthew turned grim. “This hospital doesn’t have the right blood type for you, and you’re gonna need two more surgeries to totally heal up.”
Indeed, he had his own motives. To keep Elizabeth from bothering Mia, he had to make these arrangements. “Kensington Hospital happens to have your blood type.”
A crystalline tear slid down Elizabeth’s weak cheek. “Mait, I’ve always stayed at Pratu
I’m used to it.”
She didn’t want Matt to think she was being unreasonable. But she also didn’t want Matthew to have frequent private interactions with Mia.
Matthew spoke in a cold voice. “Beth, behave, okay?” His stern tone made Elizabeth’s heart skip a beat.
Hearing the commotion, Kirsten looked over and saw Elizabeth clinging to Matthew’s arm, playfully pouring-
She looked so pure and endearing that even the usually aloof Matthew was sofily comforting her.
“So the girl named Beth must be Matthew’s new flame, Kirsten thought. Kirsten glanced at Beth’s flat stomach and wasn’t convinced she was
pregnant.
“Tint that your ex–husband?” Kirsten said loudly while glancing sideways at Mia.
Mia’s eyes turned cold, a smirk playing on her lips. She hated it when people mentioned her past relationship with Matthew.
Sensing this, Kirsten added with a frown, “No wonder he was in such a hurry to divorce you. Turns out he has a new lover.
Mia raised her brows, detecting a hint of jealousy in Kirsten’s tone. “Why? Could Kirsten be interested in Matthew? thought ML
As Mia was thinking, Kirsten marched up to Matthew and Elizabeth.
Mia tilted her brad, curious to see

“Hi, Mr. Blackwood” Kirsten glanced upward and flashed what she believed to be a charming smile.
Matthew raised his eyebrows and asked coldly, “And you are?”

Elizabeth looked at Kirsten warily and started to speak. “Im sorry… Before she could finish, she suddenly went limp and almost fainted.

“Beth?” Matthew quickly supported Elizabeth
“I’m fine, Matt, just feeling a bit dizzy.” Elizabeth said in a weak tone.
“It’s alright. Beth. I’ll get you to Kensington Hospital right away. Once your surgeries are done, you’ll be fine. Matthew ignored Kirsten and carried Elizabeth away.
As Elizabeth leaned on Matthew’s shoulder, she shot a provocative glance at Kirsten.
Kirsten stomped her foot in frustration.
Watching this
Mia couldn’t help but laugh. The ridiculous drama was too entertaining. She raised her eyebrows and said in a mocking tone, “Kirsten, you think you can win over Matthew? Wake up. kid.” Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
Matthew was like an iceberg that was impossible to warm up.
Kirsten was baffled, thinking. Why was Matthew ignoring Mia? Could it be that the baby Mia was carrying really wasn’t Matthew’s
