“Are you all set?” Lyn asks. “Are you sure you don’t want me to come?”
I shake my head. “I’ve asked you for too many favors already, Lyn. And if I have one more favor to a day, it would be for you to stay here and look after Kai.

Right now, my grandmother has asked if she can spend some time with Kai. If I didn’t have to shoden Steele and the rest of his team to the new location of King’s Legend, I would love to stay a few days with grandmother too
“So, who am I meeting today?”
“You mean besides Kayden?”
1 nod..
“He’ll be coming with his assistant, of course,” Lyn replies, looking at her iPad. “And one of the Garavillo and his wife also confirmed that they will join you, as well as Mister Gibson and his

Lyn shrugs. “Since we’ve extended the invitation of the site visit to every member of the board and offered to pan for their one-night accommodations, some of the board members thought it would be a good idea to s Speaking of which, be prepared that Megan will also come with Mister Steele.”
I feel a knot in my stomach. “Did she confirm?”
Lyn shakes her head. “But she can always come as Kayden’s plus one.”
That’s right! Megan is engaged to Kayden, after all.
I don’t get that man, Kayden Steelel He said he wants me back, but then he knocks up my sister an What is his game? And even though I couldn’t admit it to myself I did almost fall for his ploy.
But not anymore!
I will never fall for Kayden Steele’s tricks anymore! And even though she actually deserves it, a part of me does feel sorry for Megan. She’s engaged to a man who’s actually playing her for a fool.
Lyn’s phone beeps. Then I hear her gasp when she reads a message.
“What’s wrong?”
“D*mn it!” she groans.
Why?
“Your driver canceled on us! Now, what are we going to do? It’s such a short notice now!”

“I’ll take a cab,” I say.”
“It’s too far. A taxi won’t be comfortable.”
Lyn dials some numbers and tries to make some calls. However, from the look on her face, I think sh

Just then, a sportscar revs from afar and stops in front of us. The sleek vehicle gleams under the sun, y breath catches: as the driver’s door swings open. Kayden steps out, wearing a cream turtleneck and a sleek pair of glasses.
“Hi,” he greets me. “I thought you’re on your way to the island location.”
“Well, we’re just waiting for our driver,” I reply dryly. I cannot help but notice that he’s algalone. I w went ahead.

“Actually…..” Lyn eyes me nervously. “I can’t book anyone. Apparently, the resort is too far from the city proper. It’s not very populated. No one wants to make the empty trip back.”
“But we’ll pay them for the trip back, too. Let’s pay them double
“I already offered that bu….” she shakes her head.
“Well… you can always ride with me,” Kayden interrupts us.
“What?!” Lyn and.I say in unison.
No way!” I protest. “I’m not doing that!”
“Why not?” he asks. “We’re both headed towards the same direction. And I have an empty seat. It’s going to be long ride to make alone. Do you have any reason why you don’t want to ride with me?”
“I don’t need a reason for that! I just don’t want to ride with you I snap.
“Do you have any other alternative?” He turns to Lyn, who merely shakes her head. “It seems ill you not to accept my offer.” He looks at his wristwatch. “I think we better leave now if we want t weather doesn’t look too good.”
I look up at the skies.
The clouds rolled in ominously, casting a shadow over the once bright day. I feel a pang of uncertainty as I glance Kayden’s car, then back at Lyn who seems equally torn.
Lyn gives me a pleading look, silently urging me to reconsider.
I groan. “Fine!”

Kayden shots me a triumphant look as he rounded the car to take my luggage. When I refuse to give it to him, he reaches out for my arm to gently peel the handle from my hands.
“Come on, love. We’re running out of time.”

“But right now, we don’t seem to have a choice,” Lyn says sadly. Don’t worry. It’s only an hour’s drive. After that, you’ll be on the island with the other shareholders. You just need to endure one-hour ride with him.”
As much as I try to avoid it, it does not seem like we have choice
“Take care of yourself. I’ll have a driver pick you tomorrow.”
Kayden holds the passenger door open for me.
“Mademoiselle, Kayden grins. He really looks like he’s enjoying himself.
A few minutes later, Kayden starts driving. I stare back at him, he looks rather chirpy, like none of thrs him at all.
“What were you doing at King’s Court?”
He shrugs. “I just happened to pass by and then I saw you waiting up front. It’s a good thing I stopped by to say hi. Otherwise, you’d find yourself in a fickle. Mister Garavillo does not want to be kept waiting.” He says with a smirk on his face.
I lean back in the passenger seat, crossing my arms over my chest. The car ride begins in silence.
How am I going to endure an hour’s drive with Kayden Steele?
