Chapter 34
DANNY
ONE YEAR LATER
It is a pain in the ass to do school work with two babies in the house. The good news is that we have a lot of help. Kyle has no problem being a daddy. He loves his little son. Jordan has moved in with Courtney. It took some time but they are getting along great. He helps out with her daughter all the time too. Not to mention Bridget who loves all the baby love going on. She’s waiting until she is done with school but Pearson already proposed. Said he wasn’t going to let her slip through his fingers.
Who knew that one little bet could bring all this together. We are like a big extended family. This little apartment is always full. It’s a ton of work but we are all happy. Our parents have even come around. Especially with me and Kyle married. They didn’t lose face with my pregnancy so they were happy about that. They don’t seem to hide Courtney either. They have accepted it.
We are getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner. Both ours and Kyle’s parents are coming here. His parents were ecstatic to be grandparents. They come almost every weekend to see little Brodie. Not to mention Jordan’s parents and his little brother. Courtney and I are cooking. Which is different. Before it was always just me, but she has taken to it in the last six months. Especially during her nesting phase.
“How much longer on the turkey?” Courtney asks as she mashes the potatoes.
“An hour. Do we have the green beans done?”
“Yeah. Are we forgetting anything?”
We both feel frantic, I can tell. Kyle comes into the kitchen and puts his arms around me. “You girls need to calm down. It’s going to be great. You are doing fantastic.” He kisses my neck. “So, Brodie is asleep.”
I laugh. He has been hinting about sleeping together a lot. The doctor gave me an all clear and I am on birth control. There really isn’t anything stopping us this time. Only I keep dragging my feet. “We are still cooking.”
“It looks like it’s all done. There is nothing you can do to cook the turkey faster. I am failing to see the problem with you taking a little nap.”
Courtney rolls her eyes. “Oh, yeah, I am sure you want her to take a nap.”
He smirks. “At some point sure.”
He doesn’t even wait for my answer, he just takes my hand and leads me to the room. Brodie is asleep in his crib across the room. “Baby, it’s time. You can’t hold me off any longer.”
His arms wrap around me. I barely have a chance to take a breath before his mouth is on mine. “I love you, my wife.”
I smile at that. “I love you too, my husband.”Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Then why are you stopping me?”
He doesn’t want to force me. I get that. “I just am scared that I’ll get pregnant again. We already have so much on our plates.”
He cups my face. “You are not getting pregnant. We are safe this time. We didn’t even try last time. That’s why you got pregnant. As much as I love Brodie, I don’t want another one right now. We are doing what it takes to not have more. Now will you please relax and make love to me.”
I smile. “Alright.”
He starts pulling on my clothes as his lips attach to mine. He just gets me on the bed when we hear crying. It’s not in the room but that doesn’t mean anything. We pause looking over at Brodie. He hears his cousin and stirs. Soon he is crying too.
Kyle groans. “I love that he loves his cousin so much but this is ridiculous.” Everytime she cries he cries too.
I slip my shirt back on and pick him up. He calms after a minute and he can’t hear her crying anymore. I am assuming that Courtney got her. Or maybe Jordan. Little Katie likes Jordan for some cooky reason. She always gets instantly quiet when he picks her up. Brodie starts to drift back to sleep. As soon as his body relaxes I lay him back in his crib.
Kyle smiles up at me from the bed. “Mommy’s touch.”
I chuckle, “That and Katie stopped crying.”
He takes my hand and pulls me back to the bed. “I love you being the mother of my child.”
“Oh, yeah. Did you have another one in mind?”
He growls and nips my chin. “Don’t be cute. I’ll have to punish you.” He doesn’t stop kissing me though. He just continues where he left off. We only have so much time after all.
