Chapter 483
Chapter 483
Mia found out about her billion-dollar donation two days later when Cooper came over to bring her
food.
“Wow, sis, you really know how to splash out. Being a rich man’s wife really changed you. You just
casually donate a billion dollars like it’s nothing,” Cooper teased.
Mia squinted her eyes. “How much did I donate?”
Cooper replied, “A billion.” Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“A billion?” Mia’s face turned serious.
“Yes, a billion,” Cooper confirmed, looking at his sister as if she had lost her mind. “Didn’t you know?”
Mia lost her appetite, pointing at herself. “Look at me, do I look like a billionaire to you? If I had a billion,
wouldn’t it be better to put it in a bank and earn interest? Are you saying I’m that generous? I’ve never
even seen a billion in my life. Even if you sold me, do you think I’d be worth a billion?”
Cooper looked at his increasingly agitated sister and said, “Well, if it was just you, probably not. But
now you’re carrying a valuable little baby inside you. That makes you worth a billion.”
Cooper had already guessed that the Cedillo family might have donated under his sister’s name.
“Could it be my brother-in-law?” he wondered out loud.
Soon enough, Mia’s husband, Andre, arrived.
Running up to him, Mia looked up at him with her chubby face and asked, “Honey, was it you? Did you
donate a billion dollars?”
Andre looked at them. “Is that not enough?”
“Not enough?” Mia clung to her husband’s suit jacket. Her voice was rising in anger, “Why didn’t you
discuss it with me first? Don’t you know we have a baby to raise? He’ll need formula, diapers, and then
there’s school tuition, tutoring, art classes... All of these are expensive, you know? And he’ll have to get
married someday! You’re ruining us, Andre! If you’d given me the money, I would be happy and we
could have a second child. But you donated it all. We have nothing left. You’ve made me so mad. My
belly hurts!”
Andre quickly held his wife’s small hands that were grabbing his suit jacket. “We still have money,
enough to take care of you and our child.”
Mia’s belly was really hurting. She cradled it and inhaled sharply, “Honey, my belly really hurts.”
Andre frowned. Could a donation really upset his beloved wife that much? “Baby, would you feel better
if I gave you another billion dollars?” he offered.
Cooper, who was standing nearby, was stunned at the thought of buying his sister’s happiness with a
billion dollars. The world of the wealthy was beyond his comprehension.
Mia, who was still in pain, managed to say, “A billion won’t make me happy. I want a billion with an
extra zero at the end. No, no, one extra zero isn’t enough. I want two.”
“Okay okay, honey, I’ll give it to you. Just stay calm,” Andre soothed his wife and turned to Cooper.
“Cooper, go get a doctor.”
Cooper rushed out and soon returned with a doctor.
“What seems to be the problem?” the doctor asked, looking at Mia who was lying on the hospital bed.
Her face was pale.
Andre explained, “She got upset when she found out I donated a billion dollars without consulting her
and she started having belly pains.”
The doctor looked at Andre. “My advice, Andre, would be to keep using your method of offering Mrs.
Cedillo money to alleviate her pain.”
Andre was taken aback. That meant... a hundred billion?
Andre looked at his wife who apparently needed a hundred billion to be happy. He couldn’t help but
smile indulgently. “Okay, I’ll give it to you.”
Mia bit her lip. Her mouth curved into a smile. “Doctor, when I’m ready for my second child, I’ll come to
you. You’re a godsend, a real friend to women. After I give birth, I’ll send you a banner of appreciation.”
The doctor nodded. “Thank you, Mrs. Cedillo.”
Later that night, Mia’s belly started hurting again, and Andre ended up losing a large sum of money
once again.
This time, the pain lasted for a while and Mia started crying. Leo and Anya found out about Mia’s pain
and rushed over. Molly was there too.
Mia sat on the bed, taking deep breaths, trying to calm her fear.
“Mia, don’t worry. You’ll be okay. You’ll just get to see what the delivery room looks like, and you’ll be in
and out of there in a few minutes.”
Mia asked, “Can it really be that quick?”
Molly lied, “Yes, my grandma told me that there was a woman in her village who gave birth while she
was in the bathroom. It didn’t hurt at all.”
Mia looked at Molly. “I don’t want to know you that well. I can see through your lies.”
Anya then asked softly, “Aunt Mia, what are you afraid of? I’ll help you.”
Leo grabbed Anya. “You’re still a naïve girl. What can you solve?”
Mia looked at Anya. “I’m afraid of pain and I’m afraid I won’t have enough strength to give birth
naturally.”
Everyone in the room turned to look at Anya.
“She is beautiful,” Mia said to Molly.
“But her brain is a bit off,” Molly added.
Anya asked, “Who are you talking about? Me?”
Both women nodded in agreement.
As the due date approached, a palpable tension descended upon the family, pressing heavily upon
them.
Andre jumped up immediately, rushing to his wife’s bedside. He hadn’t dared to sleep too deeply at
night, fearing his wife might need him.
Frozen in place, Mia whispered, “I think... I think my water just broke!”
