Chapter 18 A Sincere Apology

Four Seas Corporation was a local business steeped in the Web 2.0 industry.

It had three subsidiaries in distinct sectors–video streaming, media, and data–mining–based recommender systems.

With Jack at the company’s helm, Four Seas Corporation had successfully secured a substantial amount of the market, albeit it still had room for improvement compared to other local competitors in the internet industry like Penguin Group, Alibana Group, and ByteRock Group.

However, Four Seas Corporation was set on pulling ahead now that Alex had procured the company in one fell swoop and was planning to drive more internet traffic.

All he needed to reach that goal was money, and he had tons of it.

At that moment, Jack was talking to Madison Zucker and Felicia Scott outside Alex’s office.

“Mr. Jefferson can be a little impatient, so talk nicely to him later. No one will be able to save you if you ever get on his wrong side,” Jack reiterated as his gaze lingered on Madison’s sexy curves, regretting not being able to win the girl.

He had plans to give it a shot with Madison, but her manager, Felicia, ended up pursuing him.

“Understood,” Madison replied.

“By the way,” Felicia suddenly said before they walked into the office, “that security guard called Alex whatever who scratched Madison’s car just now has an attitude problem. Make sure you fire him. I can’t stand the sight of that man.”

What?

Jack was horrified when he heard that, but before he could reach out for the two women to stop them from going into the office, Madison had already knocked on the door and entered.

With his hand still hanging in the air, Jack knew it was all too late.

Dang! I’m going in with them.

“It’s you!” Madison exclaimed in surprise when she saw Alex smoking, leaning against the chair beside the office table.

Likewise, when Felicia saw Alex in the room, she reprimanded, “How dare you sneak in and smoke here! That’s so brazen! I can’t believe you have the audacity to come to the chairman’s office on the sly!”

When the situation had sunk in for Madison, she also chimed in, “Speak up, now. Are you a spy from another company? Are you here to steal something from the chairman?”

Me? A spy?

Alex puffed a mouthful of smoke, staring at them in amusement.

Behind the two women, the man who had just followed them in turned as pale as a sheet when he heard their accusation. “Shut the f*ck up, you two!” he raged.

Madison and Felicia shook in fear at Jack’s outburst and could not help but look at the man, confused.

“Mr. Sawyer, he’s the weird guy I told you about earlier,” Felicia reminded him.

Siap!

Before Felicia could continue. Jack slapped her in the face. roaring lividly. “Are you f*cking blind? He’s the

chairman‘

“Huh?”

Their eyes widened in disbelief at the revelation.

Slap!

The next thing they knew, Jack had also slapped himself in the face with his head low, apologizing fearfully. “I’m so sorry. Mr. Jefferson! I didn’t know what they did. It’s all my fault. I’m willing to make it up

to you!”

W–Wait. Isn’t he a security guard? How is he the chairman?

Madison and Felicia began to tremble when they saw how terrified Jack was.

Slap

Quickly comprehending the situation, Felicia slapped herself in the face and begged for forgiveness. “I- I’m sorry. Mr. Jefferson! We were so stupid to have spoken rudely to you. Please give us a chance to make it up to you too.”

As she spoke, she tugged Madison’s shirt on the hem, hinting at the clueless woman to apologize.

“I–It’s all my fault, Mr. Jefferson. I’m so sorry. I–I…” Madison stuttered with her head low.

Alex sneered, looking at how petrified the three were. “Well, you should at least be sincere when you apologize, right?”

Felicia shuddered at his words and quickly gave Madison a cue to follow suit. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

When Madison finally understood the hint, she slapped herself hard in the face until her cheek turned red.

“I’m sorry. Mr. Jefferson. Please forgive me and give me a chance to compensate for what I did!” she voiced shakily, still looking down.

When Madison and Felicia had sincerely apologized for their misbehavior, Alex sucked his cigarette again and asked indifferently. “So, what’s your business here today?”

“I–It’s nothing, actually. We’re just here to visit you, Mr. Jefferson. We were just wondering if you had time for a meal with us,” Felicia quickly explained.

“Yeah. We just wanted to invite you for a meal, Mr. Jefferson,” Madison also agreed.

Alex gazed at the two women quietly and finally shifted his gaze toward Jack.

“Mr. Jefferson, Madison Zucker is a celebrity under Volcano Media Group, while Felicia Scott is her manager. They came to me when they heard that the company had a new chairman, saying they wanted to have a meal with you.”

Chapter IS A Sincere Apology

Having heard Jack’s explanation, Alex turned to the two women and cautioned. “I don’t need my employees at the company to be good at making connections. All I ask of them is to take their work

seriously and be good people. This is way better than them treating me to a meal to win my favor. I’m talking about you, in particular.”

Here, he stared at Madison before continuing. “You’re a public figure, but you’re not behaving like one. How could you be so entitled when you’ve done something wrong? Do you think the media will always portray you positively just because you’re famous? The company spent so much money grooming you because we saw your potential to bring growth to the company. We didn’t invest in you so that you can do as you like!”

Alex was so stern toward the end that Madison quivered at his warning.

“Y–Yes, Mr. Jefferson. I won’t do that again!” she replied instantly.

“I’m giving you guys another chance since you all have apologized, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. You’ll be out of showbiz the next time this happens again.”

With that said, Alex waved dismissively to the two women, and they left immediately.

“M–Mr. Jefferson. I…” Jack muttered with his head kept low after Madison and Felicia went out.

“Let’s just get over it already. I have more important business. Did you do as I told and inform the other shareholders about the meeting?” Alex asked.

“I did. All of them agreed to come. They are actually waiting for you in the conference room,” Jack informed.

“All right. Let’s go over, then.” Alex nodded and got up to leave, with Jack following closely behind.

Meanwhile, Madison was still stuck in worry about how things had unraveled in the chairman’s office. “What do we do now, Felicia? We offended Mr. Jefferson big time today. Do you think he will really cancel me from showbiz?”

Till that point, she still could not understand why Alex, the chairman himself, would dress so shabbily. If she had known that he was the chairman, she would not have done anything to cross him. She never would.

Initially, Felicia fell quiet at Madison’s question, but she eventually said, “I don’t think he will do that. He might sound severe and cold back there, but from my experience, what he said to you told me he has a b heart. Trust me, Madison. Just make sure you behave from now on while we wait for his anger to die down. After that, we’ll see him again and treat him to a meal to test the waters and see if he’s interested in you. I can assure you that you’ll become the most famous celebrity out there if he likes you.”

“Okay. We’ll see him again in a few days, then. I don’t think anyone can ever turn down someone as attractive as I am,” Madison stated with a confident nod.
