She's out of Your League Now (Millie and Winston)

League 50

League 50

It was raining cats and dogs when Millie stepped out of the bar.

A sense of foreboding hung in the air, with occasional flashes of lightning illuminating the sky while the thunder remained silent.

There was something peculiar about her.

Millie liked gloomy days, especially when she could watch shows and indulge in snacks while the rain pattered outside. It brought a sense of tranquility!

However, she was terrified of thunder. Ever since she fell into the ocean, she developed a fear of thunder

The noise would strike a chord of dread within her. It was as if something exploded next to her ear.

Just as Millie was about to get into the car, she spotted a black Maybach parked nearby. The door swung open, and a man in a suit hurriedly stepped out with an umbrella to pick Joanna up.

Millie narrowed her eyes as she stared at the man, her gaze darkening.

The most esteemed figure in Yerwick City, regarded as a legend, braved the pouring rain in the wee hours of the morning just to pick up Joanna. If that was not true love, then what could it be?

Coincidentally, the man looked up, and their eyes met.

In the dead of night, the rain suddenly came down hard, its pitter–patter on the car roof echoing loudly and clearly.

Winston frowned. What was Millie doing there?

Millie pursed her lips, and just as she was about to get into the car, there was a sudden flash of lightning. In the next second, a deafening roar of thunder could be heard.

Millie trembled violently, her heartbeat thrown into disarray, and her eyes revealed a sense of alarm

and confusion.

Winston noticed her shuddering. Then, he could not help but take a step forward.

“Ah!” Joanna shrieked in a coquettish manner.

She quickly nestled in Winston’s embrace, feigning fear as she whispered, “Win…”

Winston lowered his gaze and enveloped her in his arms. When he looked up at Millie again, she had already opened the car door and gotten in.

Following Winston’s gaze, Joanna spotted Millie’s purple Pagani. She immediately took Winston’s hand in hers, saying softly, “Let’s go, Win.”

“Okay.”

Winston nodded before opening the car door, signaling for Joanna to get in quickly. While getting into the car himself, he glanced at Millie’s car again.

Her hazard lights were on, yet it did not seem like she was leaving.

At that point, the rain grew heavier.

The moment Winston closed the car door, it muffled the sound of the pouring rain outside.

Just as he was about to drive Joanna home, he suddenly remembered what Millie had said to him not long after they got married.

“Win, it looks like it’s going to rain tonight. Are you coming home?”

However, he had an appointment then and did not return home.

That night, a storm swept through the city.

It was the largest rainfall Yerwick had seen in recent years. It caused a citywide power outage, with countless trees being uprooted.

When the power went out at midnight, Millie had called him.

“Win, there’s thunder. It’s so dark… I’m scared….” she said, her voice trembling.

Winston had thought that Millie was just putting on an act, that she was pretending to be weak to get him to go home.

Through the rearview mirror, he glanced at the purple Pagani. The image of her trembling lingered in his mind, causing his heart to tighten.

So, it turned out that she was genuinely terrified of thunder.

Seeing that Winston was distracted, Joanna could not help but call out, “Win.”

“Yeah?” Winston snapped back to reality.

“What are you looking at?” Joanna asked as she peered into his eyes.

Was Millie really that captivating to him? It was as if he could not take his eyes off her whenever he saw her.

Joanna wondered what had happened to Winston. After all, he had never shown much interest in Millie before.

The more she thought about it, the more she hated Millie. Once she got her hands on the Snowdrop. Joanna was determined to humiliate Millie at Selma’s birthday party.

She vowed to crush Millie. She had to!

“It’s nothing. Did you meet M?” Winston glanced at Joanna, his tone flat. NôvelDrama.Org © content.

Joanna bit her lip and replied lightly, “No.”

She proceeded to tell Winston the ordeal of waiting for M for over five hours.

Winston chuckled after hearing that. “Are you sure M isn’t a scammer?”

Joanna pursed her lips. Although she was being stood up, she still answered confidently, “He’s not!”

She shrugged and continued to make excuses for M, “After all, he’s the great M. It’s normal that he has quite the character. And the rain tonight is indeed quite heavy.”

Nevertheless, Winston didn’t respond.

Joanna had long gotten used to his sudden silence, considering he was never much of a talker to begin with.
