Richest Mogul

Chapter 1682

Priscilla could sense the subtle tension radiating from Paul. As Joe's assistant, he was fiercely protective of his position and would never allow anyone to surpass him.

To the employees at Martin Group, Paul was a fixture steadfast and dependable. Having earned Joe's trust and been entrusted with significant responsibilities, he was the object of envy. Many wished they could be in his shoes. For Priscilla, learning about these small details of Joe's life was incredibly valuable. Unfortunately, Paul hadn't shared much in the way of details.

She had worked hard to establish a relationship with Paul, using subtle methods to get closer to him. Yet, it seemed her efforts had been in vain.

However, she did learn one key detail-Joe's preferred brand of yogurt drink. Moving forward, she made a mental note to keep some stocked in the office, and whenever she passed by a convenience store on her way to work, she'd pick up a bottle for him. After finishing their meal, they rested briefly before resuming their journey. The drive was quiet, as Joe preferred peace, and no one spoke unless absolutely necessary for work.

Even on the road, each of them had tasks to attend to. By the time they reached the hotel, it was already 10:00 pm.

After checking in, Priscilla noticed that Joe had been assigned the presidential suite while she and her two male colleagues were on the same floor.noveldrama

Once settled, she immediately went to take a shower and changed into more comfortable clothes. Then, she grabbed a bag and left.

Taking the elevator to Joe's suite, she felt a twinge of nervousness with each step. But her experience and training helped her regain her composure quickly.

She knocked gently on the door. After waiting for about two or three minutes, it opened.

Joe stood in the doorway, holding his phone and in the middle of a video call. His face had no soft expression, indicating that he wasn't speaking to Skylar. He glanced at Priscilla and asked, "What's the matter?"

A man's voice came from the phone, "Someone still needs to talk to you this late?"

From the tone, it was clear that the person wasn't someone Priscilla knew. She hadn't expected her timing to be so unfortunate, catching Joe right in the middle of a video call. en

Priscilla hesitated, then spoke quickly, "I noticed that you seemed to have a sore throat, and with the season changing, you might catch a cold if you're not careful. I found a pharmacy on my way and had them send over some medicine.

"It's a powdered supplement. I've used it before, and it worked well for me. I won't keep you any longer. Goodnight."

She handed over the bag and started to leave, but Joe didn't take it.

Her outstretched hand lingered awkwardly in the air. "Mr. Martin?"

"No need for it. Take it back," Joe said, then closed the door.

Priscilla's face turned pale in an instant. She hadn't expected her first personal interaction with Joe to go so poorly.

She had carefully researched the

medicine online, and it had been highly recommended. To have her thoughtful gesture fall flat was disappointing.

She took a deep breath. Not wanting to linger at the door, she quickly left.

Inside the presidential suite, Joe's video call continued.

Jeremy's voice, laced with amusement, asked, "Did you bring your female assistant on this business trip?"

"What are you implying?" Joe raised an eyebrow.

The two had been friends for years, and sometimes, they could read each other's thoughts before the words even left their mouths.
