Chapter 304: Justice
Astrid's POV
My legs wobbled, and I felt myself collapsing under the weight of the revelation. But before I could hit the ground, Killian's arms wrapped around me, steady and strong.
He pulled me close, catching me as I broke down. "I've got you," he whispered, his voice soft and soothing against my ear. "I've got you."
I buried my face in his shoulder, the tears spilling out uncontrollably as the emotions I had suppressed for so long came crashing down.
He held me tightly, his embrace warm and secure as my sobs wracked my body. All the years of pain, the longing, the grief-it all poured out of me, and I couldn't stop.
Killian's hand moved in slow circles on my back, his touch gentle and comforting.
"It's okay," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "Cry if you need to. I'm here."
I clung to him, the warmth of his body grounding me as the storm of emotions raged inside.
I could feel the strength in his arms, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against mine, and for the first time in so long, I felt safe.
I let myself cry, my tears soaking into his shirt as he continued to hold me, whispering words of comfort.
But as I quieted, another emotion stirred within me a burning hatred. The revelation of Giselle's liesnoveldrama
struck like a dagger, and all the pieces of my shattered past fell into place.
The years I spent aching, longing for Ryker, all because of her. She was the reason I never got to hold my son when he was a baby, never saw his first steps or heard his first words.
Every memory I could have made, every moment of happiness I was denied it was all because of her.
I was mourning for my son who was alive all this time.
I pulled back from Killian, wiping the tears away as my gaze locked onto Giselle.
My body trembled, not from fear, but from the loathing that surged through me. She had stolen everything from me. The life I could have had with Ryker-full of joy, laughter, and love-had been ripped away, replaced with an unending nightmare. All because of her greed, her manipulations.
I stepped forward, ready to make her pay for everything she had done, but Killian's grip on me tightened when he noticed what I was about to do.
He stared into my eyes his own anger mirroring mine. "She will pay for this," he growled, his voice a cold promise. "Giselle's lies, her manipulation... it ends now."
He raised his head, eyes like steel as he commanded the guards. "Take her to the dungeons. Giselle is to be arrested immediately."
The guards advanced, but Giselle's eyes darted wildly, panic evident as she realized her fate.
"No!" she shrieked. "You can't do this! I am the Luna!"
She fought against their hold, her voice shrill as she invoked her title, desperately clinging to the last shred of power she thought she had. "I am your Luna! You have no right="
Killian's voice cut through her screams, cold and unforgiving. "Enough!" he roared. "The truth is out, Giselle. You have no power here anymore. You lied, you manipulated, and you betrayed us all. Don't expect to walk away from this unpunished."
She continued to struggle, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and defiance. "You have no proof!" she cried, her voice tinged with hysteria as she thrashed against the guards.
But Killian's glare was as cold as ice. "There is no doubt of your guilt. You've done enough damage, and it's time you face the consequences."
As the guards began to drag her away, she fought with a wild desperation, her voice rising in a shrill, unhinged scream. "This isn't over! You'll regret this!"
Giselle's eyes bore into mine, her glare filled with a manic rage that promised retribution.
It wasn't just a threat - it was a vow, a twisted promise that sent a shiver racing down my spine.
The intensity of her hatred felt like a claw wrapping around my heart, tightening with every step she was dragged further away.
Her voice cracked, rising to a near-screech as she struggled against the guards, her hands clawing at the air as if she could reach me.
"I'll make you pay!" she screamed endlessly, her words echoing like a curse.
Even as they pulled her out of the crowd, the crazed fury in her eyes never wavered.
It felt as if her presence lingered long after she was gone, a dark cloud threatening to smother any sense of relief.
Killian's grip on my hand tightened, pulling me out of the trance her threats had put me in.
His eyes, fierce and unyielding, met
mine as he spoke, his voice steady and reassuring. "She'll get the punishment she deserves," he
promised, the edge of his anger net
sharpening his tone. "And I swear to you, no one will hurt you or Ryker again. This ends here. I won't let anyone take away what's ours ever again."
That's right... I also won't let anyone hurt Ryker or take him away from me again. I won't let Giselle harm me and ruin my life again.
Giselle's life is doomed. The truth is out and her words earlier are nothing but empty threats.
I nodded, the tears drying on my cheeks as I held on to the hope he offered,
Finally, she would be held accountable for her actions.
All those lost years, the time stolen from me and Ryker-it couldn't be undone, but at least justice was being served.
Killian's hand squeezed mine, his expression unyielding as he spoke the words I had longed to hear.
"Put your eyes on her and make sure that she remains in the dungeons until I decide her fate," Killian spoke to the guards. "Add extra guards to watch her. This time, I won't let Giselle escape the punishment that she deserves."
