Reclaiming My Broken Luna 2

Chapter 301: Weight of Betrayal

Astrid's POV

Damien didn't have to say a word for Vanessa to understand everything. She could feel the uneasiness of his wolf through the mate bond.

They had been together for years, and Vanessa could easily read him like an open book.

The truth was out, hanging heavily in the air between them, but it was the betrayal that made her heart break.

Tears that Vanessa had been trying so desperately to hold back finally fell freely from her eyes. Her voice trembled, but there was no mistaking the anger behind it.

"How could you do this to me?!" she yelled, her voice shaking with fury and pain. "You deceived me, Damien! You played me for a fool! Why didn't you tell me the truth? Why didn't you tell me that Giselle was the mother of your child?"

The crowd stood frozen in shock, the weight of the revelations suffocating the room.

People exchanged glances, wide-eyed and speechless, not knowing how to process everything they had just learned.

No one had expected to hear such devastating secrets today.

I felt the heaviness in my own chest as I looked at Vanessa. I couldn't even begin to imagine the depth of her pain.

She had always hated Giselle, loathed her with every fiber of her being. And now, to find out that the child she had loved and cared for, the one she treated as her own, was the daughter of the woman she

despised - and worse, a child she had with her own husband - was a betrayal beyond comprehension. Damien and Giselle had made her look like a fool.

I swallowed hard, guilt creeping in. This wasn't how I wanted things to unfold.

I never meant for Vanessa to be humiliated like this, especially not in front of everyone.

Vanessa, born into a Beta family, had always carried herself with pride. She had never been humiliated before nor experienced any kind of suffering.

She has always been sheltered under her father's protection and now, the worst moment of her life was unraveling before the eyes of the public.

Damien stepped forward, his eyes filled with remorse. "Vanessa," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "I'm so sorry... I never wanted this. I never meant to hurt you."

But Vanessa backed away from him, her eyes filled with betrayal. "Don't touch me!" she snapped, her

voice cracking. "You don't get to apologize now, Damien. Not after what you've done."

Damien's hands dropped to his sides upon hearing her words. The pain in her eyes was too much for him

to bear. "I didn't have a choice," he said, his voice breaking. "I didn't mean to deceive you like this."

Vanessa's eyes narrowed, filled with disbelief. "No choice? You always had a choice, Damien. We've been together for years, you had all the chances to tell me the truth, but you never did. If you had told me the truth, I would have understand you better."

Damien's shoulders slumped as he absorbed the weight of Vanessa's words. Her pain, her betrayal-it was all his doing. His voice, thick with guilt, trembled as he spoke.

"I'm truly sorry, Vanessa," he whispered, his eyes pleading with her to understand, though he knew the damage was done.

"I know I can't undo what I've done, no matter how much I wish I could. If I could go back, I would do things differently. I would have told you the truth."noveldrama

He took a tentative step toward her, his heart aching as he watched her retreat further, the distance between them growing not just physically, but emotionally.

"I was... I was overcome by my fear,"

he confessed his voice barely above a whisper "Fear of losing you. I thought told you the truth, it would destroy everything. I thought I was protecting us... but I see now I that all I was doing was making everything worse.

Vanessa's eyes softened, just for a fleeting moment, but her expression remained guarded, the pain still lingering beneath the surface. "Then why did you help Giselle deceive everyone?"

Her voice wavered slightly, filled with confusion and hurt. "I know Hazel is your daughter - that's why you took her - but why give her Ryker and let her continue on with her lies? Why did you do that?" Damien's guilt weighed him down, pulling his shoulders lower. His voice was barely more than a whisper. "Because if I didn't do as she wish, she would kill Hazel."

At the mention of her name, Giselle's body stiffened, her wide eyes locking on Damien. Her face turned pale, her confident facade shattered.

She stood frozen, unable to move or speak as the weight of the truth began to crash down.

Damien's gaze flicked to Giselle, and for a moment, it looked as though he were wrestling with whether or not to finally expose everything. But the time for secrets was over.

"I lost contact with Giselle after she left the Crimsonbane Pack," Damien began, his voice heavy with the burden of old memories.

"I thought I'd never see her again.

But we crossed paths when I came to visit Killian. That's when I found out she was pregnant - with my child," Damien continued talking as Killian and I listened in, eagento know the whole truth.

The crowd stirred, murmurs of shock spreading through the room, but Damien pressed on, his voice steady now, though filled with regret.

"I didn't know she and Killian had started dating," he continued, his eyes darkening with the memories

. "She had deceived him into believing he was the father of her child. I wanted to tell Killian the truth, but before I could, Giselle... she inflicted harm on herself. She nearly caused Hazel's death while she was still in the womb.'
