Reborn Before The Divorce

Chapter 24

“No, he didn’t find out. I took a big risk to get it. If he had found out, I would have been doomed,” Nydia said, unable to help glancing at Jesse and noting his expression, which remained the same as before.

“Thank you for your hard work, Nydia. I’ll treat you to a meal next time. Did you get a hard copy or an electronic version?”

“An electronic version. I can send it to you now.”

“Okay, please send it to my email.”

Nydia silently mouthed to Jesse, “You do it.” She had already logged into her email, so Jesse only needed to use her email to send the revised proposal to Barclay.

Jesse had already begun the operation.

“Brother-in-law, I’ve sent it to you. Please take a look,” Jesse said.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

“Great, I’ll check it right away,” Barclay’s voice became more excited after five or six seconds. “I’ve got it. This is the proposal. Thank you so much, Nydia. I’ll definitely treat you to a meal.”

“Okay, that’s all. I won’t talk to you anymore. Jesse is coming back soon,” Nydia said.

“Okay, bye.”

Barclay hung up the phone immediately. Nydia checked the email she had just sent and breathed a sigh of relief. It was done!

“If Barclay wins this order, they will lose money,” Jesse said.

“He will work hard to win it to compete with you, even if it means losing money,” Nydia said.

“But what if he insists on winning? This order is important to our group too.”

Our group?

Jesse’s heart skipped a beat.

“Let’s talk about it later,” he didn’t give a definite answer, so Nydia didn’t ask again.

She handed her phone to Jesse.

“I’ll leave my phone with you.”

Jesse refused after thinking for two seconds. “There’s no need for that.”

Since they were playing chess, both sides had to make their moves. Nydia had already made hers, so why couldn’t he make his?

As for whether Nydia really wanted to stand on his side, the answer would be revealed soon enough.

After Nydia left the study, his assistant came in.

“Boss, Mr. Wollridge has called several times asking to meet with you.”

“Put him off.”

“He was waiting outside the company’s gate just two days ago.”

“Well, let’s see how determined he is,” Jesse said after thinking for a moment. “Make it difficult for him.”

The assistant knew exactly what Jesse meant after a moment’s hesitation.

“Okay.”

“And have someone keep an eye on Barclay’s movements.”

“Okay.”

“That’s all.”

But the assistant didn’t seem to be leaving yet. He looked at Jesse hesitantly.

“What else?”

“Boss, the doctor says you need a massage for your leg. It will help with the recovery.”

As soon as he brought up the matter, Jesse’s face turned dark and terrifying. When he looked at the assistant again, his eyes were like knives, cutting into him. He froze in place and dared not look at Jesse again.

“Get out!”

The assistant was frightened, but he thought it would be good for Jesse, so he wanted to speak up again.

But after meeting Jesse’s eyes, he swallowed his words again. He knew very well that if he said anything else, he would definitely be kicked out.

He could only bow deeply and leave the study.

Just as he walked out, he heard the sound of heavy objects falling and breaking inside the study, which startled him.

He glanced back at the study and hesitated, worried that something might happen inside.

“What’s going on? Is everything okay in there?” Nydia ran over, looking worried.

“It’s nothing, you go rest, I’ll handle it here.”

Nydia noticed that the assistant’s expression was not quite right.

“Did you anger him?”
