Chapter 1564
Chapter 1564
When Corentin got to the bar, Owen had already died because he lost too much blood and the resuscitation failed.
The atmosphere was unusually grave among the brotherhood of men who used to hang out together in the past. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
It was impossible for Paul, who was the closest to Owen, to not feel saddened.
Corentin maintained a suppressed silence while looking at Owen’s body.
Paul told him in detail about their mission at night, “…I asked Owen to retreat. He didn’t and he fought with Ivan. If I had arrived slightly later, he would have been captured alive.”
“I’ve long said that Owen’s temper will have him killed one day.” Corentin wore a gloomy expression on his face.
Paul had tried to talk some sense into Owen in private! However, Owen’s character was simply hot - tempered. It was very easy for him to act on impulse.
“Mr. Lloyd, we have to avenge Owen!” One of the associates shouted.
The rest echoed, “Yes. If we don’t take revenge, they won’t take us seriously!”
Paul shot a glance at them with a serious gaze. “Don’t act recklessly and end up following Owen’s footsteps.”
“Are we supposed to be afraid of that man? Mr. Lloyd is the most powerful man in Athetin!”
“Of course, Mr. Lloyd won’t be afraid. Rather, this is not the time now. It’s a fool’s move to go into a lose–lose situation,” said Paul.
Corentin looked straight ahead with a grave expression. “If anybody dared to take revenge or spread word about this matter everywhere without my order, don’t blame me when he no longer has a place in Athetin. I will etch Owen’s revenge in my mind. Paul, settle this properly.”
“Yes.”
Corentin did not stay any longer. He turned around and left.
When he got home, Ashlynn was still sound asleep on the big bed in the bedroom.
Corentin took off his clothes, got into bed, and gently hugged her in his arms.
Ashlynn moved her body a little, found a comfortable position, and continued sleeping.
The next morning, Corentin had breakfast together with Ashlynn.
Breakfast was a feast and very nutritious.
“Have the custard.” Corentin put it in front of her.
“I’m already full. I can’t eat anymore.”
“Just a bite. Be a good girl.”
Ashlynn was very speechless. What did he mean to be a good girl? Has he not gone overboard with the way he fed her? If this continued, she would put on plenty of weight before she even delivered the child.
*Just a small bite. Open wide. Corentin scooped a small bite with a spoon and brought it to her mouth.
“I’ll do it myself.” Ashlynn snatched the spoon away and ate by herself.
The butler came in. “Mr. Lloyd, you have a guest.”
Ivan stood at the door to the dining room and nodded his head a little. “Hello, Mr. Lloyd. Pardon my intrusion.”
“Have you had breakfast?” Corentin was considerably polite.
“Yes, I have.”
“Wait for me. I’ll head over in a moment.”
After Ivan left, Ashlynn asked, “Why is he here? Is Anne and Anthony here?”
“He didn’t leave. He has been here all this while conducting an investigation. Maybe he needs me to help him with something.”
Ashlynn was stuffed, and Corentin was done as well, so they left the dining room.
Ivan did not take a seat. Instead, he was standing here with his figure as straight as a pole.
“I’ll first take my wife back to the room,” said Corentin.
Ashlynn has issues with that. “Can I not listen as well?”
“You’re carrying a child now, so just don’t listen to these things anymore.”
“Are you being overprotective?”
“Ash, you know how badly I want this child. Your parents share the same thoughts as me as well.”
“I just had breakfast, so I want to go out for a stroll,” said Ashlynn as she walked toward the outside of the living room.
Corentin hurriedly ordered the servants, “Follow her closely.”
After Ashlynn left, Corentin invited Ivan to take a seat.
“Is there something I can help you with? Or have you found a clue?”
Ivan took out his phone and showed Corentin a surveillance footage on it. It was a clear screenshot of Owen’s face.
“Please help me find this person, Mr. Lloyd.”
