Chapter 35
Chapter 35 Men Make Mistakes
A loud, heavy sound echoed in the corner of the hospital room.
Sophia, huddled under the bed, screamed in terror.
Chairs shattered into pieces, wooden fragments flying in all directions. Some pieces scratched Sophia's legs, and blood trickled slowly down her skin. Emily didn't care anymore. She approached Sophia's hiding place step by step.
"Come out," she said.
Sophia, barely able to speak from fear, stammered, "You're crazy! Emily, you're really crazy!"
"Yes, I'm crazy. I should be." Emily replied, already gripping a long rod.
Sophia paled. "What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to make you pay for what you did today," Emily said, gesturing with the metal rod above her head.
"Help!!!" Sophia pushed Emily away and ran for the door.
With a bang, the ward door was kicked open.
Nathan rushed in and shielded Sophia in his arms. Emily swung the rod at his back.
Nathan immediately grabbed the rod and threw it aside.
Sophia clung to Nathan, crying, "Nathan, save me, she's going to kill me..."
Nathan, with a stern expression, stared directly at Emily. "Sophia is pregnant. Her child is also your family. Do you hate her this much?"
"Do you know what she did to my dad?! Nathan, if you like her, fine. If you want to have a child with her, I don't care. But you can't hurt my dad."
"Emily!" Nathan's anger flared up, "Even if Sophia is wrong, you can't bully a helpless pregnant woman!"
Emily laughed bitterly. "Helpless pregnant woman? If I hadn't come today, my dad would be dead! Nathan, I warn you, control your woman. If she dares to provoke us again, my revenge won't be limited to today. I'll make her suffer." With that, she kicked a chair on the floor and left the ward.
She couldn't break down yet. She had to take care of her dad.
She had to be strong. She must be strong.
Tears streamed down Emily's face, gathering into droplets that fell to the ground.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Emily wiped her tears and took a deep breath.
"Emily," Nathan called after her, "Let's talk."
Emily didn't look back. "I have nothing to say to a scumbag like you."
Nathan reached out to pull her, "Come here, I have something to tell you."
"I have nothing to say to you!" Emily struggled, "You jerk!"
Nathan's grip was too strong. He dragged her into a dark staircase and closed the door behind them.
Emily tried to leave, but he pushed her back, "I can break up with Sophia."
Emily was stunned, then frowned, "What did you say?"
"I said, I can break up with Sophia, as long as you come back to me."
Emily scoffed as if she had heard a joke, "Mr. Reed, what's wrong with you? I can't have children, I don't have a college degree, and I don't have Sophia's schemes. I don't want to be Mrs. Reed. You and Sophia are a perfect match. Scumbags should be together." "I know you're not happy. I heard what you said in the ward. Sophia's attitude towards your father is indeed bad, and I understand how you feel..."
Emily looked up abruptly, "Just a bad attitude? She's killing someone!"
"I know, I know," Nathan tried to soothe her, "But Sophia is still pregnant with my child. They will be the heir to my family. After Sophia gives birth, I will break up with her completely. We'll still be married, okay?"
Emily listened, unable to say anything. He could actually say such things?
"Nathan, what am I to you?"
"You're my wife, of course."
"And Sophia, what do you consider her?"
Nathan paused, feeling awkward. "I'm a man, and men make mistakes sometimes."
How ironic.
Men make mistakes?
This was the man she had loved for four years. She once prayed that Nathan would love her, but she never imagined her beloved would turn out to be so disgusting. "Nathan, I don't hate you anymore."
Nathan was surprised. "Really? I knew it, you're so understanding, you'll forgive me. You believe in me. Once Sophia's child is born, I'll definitely break up with her."
"I've found someone I like," Emily said. "I don't want to see you and Sophia ever again. You both disgust me."
Just then, a nurse passed by in the corridor outside. "Is William's daughter here?"
"I'm here!" Emily replied loudly. She pushed away from Nathan's hold, opened the door, and addressed the nurse, "I'm William's daughter."
"Please settle the bill. William is out of immediate danger now, but the treatment for his burns will be quite extensive and expensive. I want to remind you to prepare a significant amount of money." Emily took the bill, nodded politely. "Thank you."
Nathan also stepped out, "If you need money, you can come to me."
"No need," Emily sneered. "My man is much richer than you."
