Chapter 30: Goodbye Kiss
“I beg your pardon, Mr Woods. Did you forget our agreement? You promised to give me a one-week grace period before moving in together. And we still have three days left. Did you forget?” Kourtney sneered.
She felt she still needed more time to adjust to this whole idea. She hadn’t even had the courage to tell anyone about it yet; not even her best friend, Lilian Powell.
Meanwhile, Sebastian’s arrogant demeanor faltered for a moment. He hadn’t anticipated her reminding him of their agreement, which he had reluctantly put in place.
His eyebrows furrowed, and there was a conflict visible in his eyes. He hated to admit it, but Kourtney had a point. They did have an agreement, and he couldn’t disregard it completely.
“Oh, right. I did say that, didn’t I?
“Yes, you did. So, stick to our agreement!”
After a tense silence, he finally relented. “Fine, you win this round. You can go home, but I don’t like it.”
Kourtney exhaled, feeling a sense of victory. “Gee, thanks.”
Sebastian, still feeling displeased, reached for his phone and dialed his driver. “Martins, I’m sending you to pick up my wife. She’ll be going home now.”
Kourtney, now feeling a mix of emotions, prepared to leave. She grabbed her cell phone and bag, thinking about how Sebastian, despite his tough and arrogant exterior, sometimes had a certain vulnerability when it came to her. She couldn’t help but find it endearing.
“So you’re really going to leave your sick husband alone again?” she heard the man complaining once more.
His tone had a teasing quality, but there was an underlying seriousness that hinted at a desire for her company.
“Mr Woods, please, you’re not that sick. And I have work tomorrow. I’ll come back to check on you in the evening tomorrow, I swear.”
“Hmmmm.” He stood up from the bed, towering over her like a colossus.
The height difference between them was almost comical; Kourtney, a tall girl by all standards, still found herself craning her neck to look up at Sebastian. His wide grin, however, made her stomach flutter, and she couldn’t deny that he looked super handsome and imposing.
There was an undeniable allure to the man standing before her. He had a magnetic charm that made her heart skip a beat.
His figure loomed over her as he moved closer, placing his two hands against the table with her in the middle. The position seemed to pin her down, making it difficult for her to move. He positioned himself in a way that left her feeling somewhat trapped.
The sudden proximity coupled with his towering stature felt both intimidating and electrifying for Kourtney. His hands pressed firmly against the table, creating a barrier around her.
With a teasing glint in his eyes, Sebastian used his left hand to pinch her cheeks cutely. Kourtney, red and flustered, couldn’t help but squirm under his playful touch.
“What’s with… Wwhat is it? she asked with confusion, holding her cheeks where he had pinched her.
She blushed furiously, the sudden intimacy catching her off guard. Her face and ears had turned red while Sebastian looked at her intently, his grin not fading. He enjoyed seeing her blushing face a lot.
He leaned down, their faces now mere inches apart.
“I’m just appreciating the view.”
Kourtney raised an eyebrow. “The view? What view?”
Sebastian chuckled, leaning in slightly. “Yes, You.”
“Oh!!!” Kourtney rolled her eyes, but a part of her couldn’t be more pleased every time he praised her beauty.
“You just look too adorable when you’re all red and flustered. I’ve always found your reactions fascinating.”
“Fascinating? What’s so fascinating about me being embarrassed?”Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
Sebastian’s grin widened, and he tilted his head. He licked his canine teeth, then licked his lips. The look in his eyes flashed with hunger and thirst that seemed to have plagued him all his life.
“Everything. It’s like watching a beautiful rose bloom, petal by petal.”
Kourtney’s cheeks heated up even more. The comparison caught her off guard, and she couldn’t decide whether to be annoyed or charmed.
The man was such a perverted person as well as a relentless tease, and it bewildered Kourtney how he seamlessly switched between being an arrogant control freak to a playful husband.
It was almost as if he had a multiple-personality disorder.
Sebastian, not missing a beat, decided to up the ante. He lightly brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, his fingers lingering for a moment longer than necessary. He then leaned closer, mischief dancing in his eyes as he decided to throw a curveball.
“So I thought it would be a shame to leave without giving your husband a goodbye KISS. Wouldn’t that be disappointing?”
Kourtney, taken aback, protested, “What?”
“I said I need a goodbye kiss.”
Kourtney was rendered speechless as she looked at him with wide eyes. ‘Is he seriously asking me for a kiss?’
The atmosphere shifted, and she felt a surge of conflicting emotions-intimidation, vulnerability, and an unexpected flutter in her stomach. She was acutely aware of the nearness of his body, the heat radiating from it, and the electricity that seemed to dance between them.
“What’s the matter, Mrs. Woods? Can’t deny your husband a goodbye kiss, can you?” Sebastian teased, his eyes dancing with amusement. He liked to flirt a lot.
Their faces were now so close that she could feel his warm breath on her lips.
She hesitated, bickering once again. “Why should I? You’ve annoyed me enough for one day.”
“And you’ve been driving me crazy too in the best possible way.” Sebastian’s eyes smoldered with desire, reminding Kourtney about earlier, when she was perched on his lap, making her fluster even more.
“Well, I don’t care. I’m not giving you a goodbye kiss.”
“Oh well. I’m not letting you leave this room without it,” He turned away, intending to walk back to work on his laptop.
Kourtney, still caught off guard by Sebastian’s unexpected request, quickly thought about how to navigate this bizarre situation. She knew he meant it when he said he wouldn’t let her leave anymore. He never made empty threats, after all. And the last thing she wanted was to be delayed further from going home to focus on her draft.
She let out a heavy sigh. The man had this weird way of showing affection, a mix of arrogance and tenderness, and it left her feeling a whirlwind of emotions.
Before Sebastian could take another step, she took a bold move. Grabbing his shirt, she forced him to look back down at her. “Fine… I’ll do it.”
“I thought as much,” Sebastian’s response was predictably arrogant, he almost seemed pleased with himself. He swallowed hard in his dry throat as he thought about their impending kiss.
However, Kourtney had her own playful agenda. Before he could react, she managed to tiptoe up his towering figure, barely reaching his cheek, and planted a quick peck. It was a fleeting, innocent gesture, much like the one they shared on their wedding day.
Sebastian, for a moment, felt his composure faltered, and his cheeks tinted with a hint of red. It was a subtle crack in his confident facade. But still, he wasn’t one to settle for just a peck…..
“That’s it?” he complained.
Kourtney sneered. “What’s wrong with it? What more do you want? A grand farewell?”
Sebastian, annoyed and dissatisfied, raised an eyebrow. “Give me a goodbye kiss. A proper one.”
Kourtney blinked, momentarily taken aback by his audacity. He seemed to want more, a real kiss. Her heart quickened as their faces remained tantalizingly close. She thought her heart would jump out of her ribcage very soon. Sebastian had his eyes locked intently on her glossy lips as if they were inviting him over.
“Yyou…”
Before she could respond, a knock on the door interrupted the moment. The driver he called was here. Sensing a momentary escape from Sebastian’s antics, she seized the opportunity to run away from him. Thankfully, he didn’t hold her back like she’d anticipated.
“Well, I should get going. Take care, Mr. Woods.”
As she made her way to the door, Sebastian’s eyes followed her. There was a lingering intensity, a certain unreadable expression that played on his features.
“I’ll see you tomorrow evening,” Kourtney cooed playfully before shutting the door with a bang, leaving Sebastian standing alone in the room.
He stood glued to the ground for a moment, his eyes fixated on the door that Kourtney had just slammed shut. His smirk hinted at a mix of amusement and irritation as if he found her attempt at an escape both entertaining and mildly annoying…
“Does this woman not know I can just call them to lock the gates or drag her back inside my room?” he mused to himself, contemplating the various ways he could exert control over the situation.
