CHAPTER 26
Chapter 26 Key Figure
A Summers, we don’t have many leads on the girl you’re looking for, said the private detective over the phone. “However, based on our investigation, your father sas sponsored quite a few children in the mountain areas. I think we should start there
What do you mean?”
We’ve found contact information for one of the children Mr. Summers helped. I think it would be best if you spoke with him directly.”
“Sure!*
Jessie quickly received the contact details from the private detective.and made the call.
The person was Hans Thomas, a child previously sponsored by Peter. He had since grown up and left his mountain village.
When Jessie got through, she introduced herself, and the other party was very welcoming. “Ms. Summers, I just got back to the country and heard about Mr. Summers being seriously ill. How is he?”
“Thank you for asking. My dad is still in the hospital undergoing treatment.”
“Ah, Mr. Summers is such a good man. How could fate treat him like this? If it wasn’t for his sponsorship, taking us out of the mountains back then, where would we be today?” Hans lamented.
A thought flashed through Jessie’s mind. Peter had started sponsoring impoverished mountain children years ago. If Rachel had been trafficked into the mountains, could that be how she came to know Peter?
“Hans, do you know any of the other students my dad sponsored?”
“I’ve always helped Mr. Summers keep in touch with them. I know most of them. It’s just that I lost contact/with many after moving abroad. Ms. Summers, if you need any kind of help, whether financial or otherwise, I’d go through anything for you.”
Seizing the opportunity, Jessie quickly asked, “Could you take a look at this photo for me and see if it’s someone my dad once sponsored?”

“Of course, Ms. Summers.”
Finished
About half an hour after Jessie sent the photo, Hans sent her some information.
The girl in the photo had bright eyes and a radiant smile, bearing a strong resemblance to the little girl on the tombstone, especially around the eyes, much like Chase.
Her name was Andrea Ward, and she had come from a poor mountain area. Peter had started sponsoring her twelve years ago. She had always been an excellent student. During high school, she received offers from top universities both domestically and internationally, but she chose to attend college in her home country.
Jessie thought she might have found the person she was looking for and hurriedly arranged to meet with Hans.
At the cafe, Hans arrived on time. Jessie had seen him once, ten years ago, when he was still a green young man, not the CEO of the publicly listed company he was now, dressed sharply in a suit, the picture of professionalism.
Even if the Summers family were bankrupt, he still addressed her respectfully. “Ms. Summers, sorry to keep you waiting.”
“I just got here too, Hans. I won’t beat around the bush. Do you still keep in touch with Andrea Ward?”
“We used to keep in touch, but I’ve lost contact with many friends back home since I went abroad. In fact, it’s been two years since I last spoke to her.”
“Do you know anything about her recent situation?”
“I’ve only been back in the country for a few days myself, and I heard about the Summers family’s situation from friends. I wasn’t very close to Andrea. I mostly just helped Mr. Summers reach out to her and others.”
Ryan took a sip of his coffee to soothe his throat. “However, since it’s at your request, Ms. Summers, I did reach out to her and some friends in our circle on my way here. Unfortunately, the news I received is that she has passed away. It’s a real pity; she was such a brilliant student. She would have had a great future if she hadn’t died.”
“How did she die?”

“The exact cause of death isn’t clear, but I heard she was pulled from the sea,” Ryan shared.
Jessie frowned, several doubts clouding her thoughts. Rachel was nearly six when she was abducted. She should have some memory of it.
If Peter was sponsoring her, why didn’t she seek help? And after arriving in this city, why didn’t she return to the Thompson family?
Another thing, what does her death have to do with Peter?
“Did my dad treat her well?” Jessie asked tentatively.
“Andrea had a tough life. She was orphaned at a young age. She managed to get to this city on her own. Mr. Summers always took good care of her. I heard she was bullied by her roommates because she was introverted, so Mr. Summers even rented a small apartment for her, just to make her studies go smoothly,” Ryan replied.
He set down his coffee cup. “Ms. Summers, why are you so curious about Andrea?”
“I just want to find out how she died to ensure she didn’t die in vain.”
Jessie had originally planned to divorce Chase and, with ten million dollars, put her affairs in order before leaving this world.
Now, she had a new resolve–to clear Peter’s name and avenge the Summers family.
If Chase wouldn’t talk, she would find out the truth herself.
After parting ways with Ryan, Jessie sent the information he had provided to her private detective,
She believed the truth would soon come to light.
