Chapter 141
Chapter 14,1
The man in the passenger seat silently pulled out a knife from his pocket and looked at Matthew’s throat. “Don’t you think I will take the opportunity to kill you right now?”
Matthew’s eyes were covered, but his face showed no trace of fear. “I think you wouldn’t dare to since you don’t know if the book I have is real or not. Then again, maybe you’re foolish enough to have already drawn your knife.”
The man’s expression turned livid. He gritted his teeth and put the knife away.
The burly driver almost laughed aloud. The car started and gradually picked up speed.
Matthew could only see darkness, while his ears picked up various sounds outside.
After an unknown amount of time, the car rolled to a stop.
Matthew removed the blindfold. He squinted as his eyes slowly readjusted to the bright lights.
He saw that the car was parked inside an abandoned factory. The place was empty, with a layer of dust covering the ground and the occasional signs of rats.
He looked at the door which had been locked to seal off any escape route.
The man in the passenger seat, now holding a machete, gestured to Matthew. “Follow me to the second floor.”
The second floor? Matthew looked up and saw a row of makeshift rooms near the stairs to the second floor. He silently followed the man upstairs.
The door to the outermost room was open, and Matthew walked in.
There, he saw the man from the video call and about a dozen other burly men. They were all armed with knives and steel pipes.
Matthew scanned the room, then walked toward Noah. “Where’s the child?” This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
Noah was in his 40s and dressed very meticulously. The green and gold watch on his wrist was particularly conspicuous.
His large eyes carried a sinister gaze that made one’s blood run cold. They were akin to that of a venomous snake, hiding in the shadows with its mouth wide open–and waiting to strike.
Noah flashed a creepy smile. “Follow me. He’s in the inner room.
There was a door leading to an inner room. He pushed the door open and walked in.
Matthew followed him in and saw a scene that matched what he had seen on the phone earlier.
There was a bed in the room with Jenny’s brother lying on it. His eyes were closed, and he was hooked to an IV drip.
Matthew frowned. “What’s going on?”
Noah explained, “I put him to sleep. It would’ve been troublesome if he made a fuss. Now, hand over Medieval Medicine.”
Matthew tossed the book over and said, “It’s real I’m taking the child.”
Noah caught the book and examined it closely, checking the paper and handwriting. He flipped through a few pages and found the entry for the Seedsaver Potion.
A smile spread across his face. But as he saw Matthew reaching for the IV needle, he suddenly said, “Don’t remove the needle. It would be too much of a hassle to insert them again.”
Matthew paused. “What do you mean? Are you doubting the authenticity of the book?
There was a vicious look on Noah’s face. “The book is real, but the child’s organs have already been promised to buyers. You can’t take him.”
Rage flared in Matthew’s eyes like a match thrown into a barrel of gasoline.
He emanated a strong killing intent from his body. His voice was icy, as if spoken by a demon from the depths of hell. ” Are you even fucking human?”
Noah flashed a beastly smile and laughed. “Why wouldn’t I be human? I have flesh and blood. I eat three times a day. I enjoy eating steak, and I love my pet dog. I wait for the light to turn green before crossing the road, and I give up my seat on the bus for the elderly and disabled.
“But selling organs is the business I run. It’s how I make a living. Do you expect me to be ethical when it comes to making money?
your organs and skin are high in demand. You’re worth
“And you since you’re here, don’t leave. You’re young, so you more than the child; I’d say at least three million dollars.”
