Chapter 49
Chapter 49
Lianne found it unsettling that Zane felt the need to explain himself to her. “Mr. Atlas, you don’t have to
let me know about your personal business.”
Zane had no idea why he did it. Deep down, he simply did not want her to get the wrong ideal
about him.
To ease the awkwardness between them, Lianne switched the topic to work. “We have finalized the
planning proposal, Mr. Atlas. I’m going to check out the venue.”
Zane replied, “Liam will do that. Come with me to a place later.” Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Since Lianne remembered there was nothing on Zane’s itinerary today, she had no idea where they
would be going. Still, she went along with it.
The pair arrived in the garage where at least a dozen luxury cars were parked.
As Zane had not asked a chauffeur to take the wheel, Lianne thought she was going to be the driver.
She made a beeline to the Bentley, Zane’s usual ride.
Zane approached a space gray sports car instead. “We’re taking this car today. I’ll drive.” There was no
way Lianne was going to let the CEO do the driving, but there were only two seats in the sports car.
She would have to take the passenger’s seat if he was driving.
Lianne had often heard that the front passenger’s seat of a man’s ride was reserved for his wife or
girlfriend.
With that in mind, Lianne could not possibly let him drive. “I don’t think you should drive, Mr. Atlas.”
Zane replied, “I’m tending to a personal matter and need your help. Don’t worry. I’ll triple your wages for
the trouble.”
Lianne’s eyes lit up at the mention of increased wages. She jumped into the passenger’s seat.” Just let
me know what I can do to help. I will do my best.”
Judging by her excitement, she must be thrilled to go with him. Zane curled his lips and smiled. Zane
cruised out of the residential area and took the expressway.
The car zipped along the road. Even though Zane rarely drove, he was steady behind the wheel.” Mr.
Atlas, I’ve been working with you for six months, but this is the first time you’re driving. I’m surprised
that you’re a pretty good driver.”
He answered, “There was a time when I was into racing. I was a racer for a while.”
“You were a racer?” That was something Lianne did not know, as the information was not on the file.
“Maybe I’d be the world’s top racer if the Atlas Group hadn’t needed me.” He let out a smile, but Lianne
could see the helplessness behind the smile.
Zane had his dreams. However, the responsibilities of the Atlas Group came before them.
was the type to excel in everything he did. Given the chance, Lianne believed he would reign as
the champion in the racing world.
It took close to an hour to arrive at Misty Valley.
They went along a winding mountain road until they stopped at a checkpoint. Seeing it was Zane, the
security staff waved them through.
Ten minutes past the checkpoint, they emerged into a field of vibrant reds and purples, like a scene
from a dream.
Beyond the field of flowers stood pavilions enveloped in mist.
Misty Valley was the highest peak in Rosewood. Many citizens enjoyed hikes there during the holiday
season. Lianne, Tyler, and Sierra had visited the place many times, but she never knew such a
beautiful spot existed deep within the mountain.
It explained why there was a checkpoint to get through.
Once they pulled up, a young and handsome valet drove the car away while a beautiful server led them
into the building.
They crossed the front lawn and strolled along the cobblestone path to another paradise
The flowers, artificial hill, and fountain were a visual feast…
The sound of laughter and cards flipping could be heard from behind the screen, creating a lively
atmosphere.
Past the screen divider, three pairs of men and women sat around the card table.
The couples’ dashing appearance and classy demeanor were a dead giveaway of their high status in
society.
Lianne dug deep into her memory for information about these people. Alas, she got nothing.
They turned to her and Zane. “There you are, Zane.
