Chapter 27
After dealing with Andrew, she rubbed her temples as her head throbbed intensely
*Shelmaine, are you alright? Dora asked.
Shelmaine shook her head. “I’m fine Were you scared?
“No, I’m okay.” Dora was, in fact, still a little shaken. She continued, “Shelmaine, was that really your father? Why did he treat you like an enemy…”
It did seem like Andrew had treated her like an enemy
Shelmaine didn’t respond.
“I’m sorry, Shelmaine. I didn’t mean to say that. I was just. Dora stammered.
“I’m not angry. Don’t worry. Besides, what you said was right. It’s true.”
Shelmaine and Andrew had never been able to have a decent conversation. She was as irritated with him as he was with her.
Before Dora could say anything more, Shelmaine’s face turned pale. “Help me call a cab. I need to go to the hospital,” she said.
shelmainetelt discomfort in her abdomen and needed medical attention
Dora didn’t delay and quickly called for a cab.
Before long, Shelmaine fainted and lost consciousness. She had no memory of how she got to the hospital, and when she woke up, she found herself in a ward with an unexpected

Shemaine tried to get up, but she had an IV needle in her hand. So, Samuel quickly placed a hand on her shoulder and said, “Don’t move.
The sudden physical contact made Shelmaine frown. She asked, “Why are you here?”
“The hospital staff called me and said that you fainted”
Shelmaine didn’t have time to question why he had been informed. “Sorry for bothering you,” she simply said.
Samuel’s expression was inscrutable as he intently stared at Shelmaine.
Under his gaze, Shelmaine began to feel increasingly uncomfortable, and her lips were drying out too.
Before she could even say anything, Samuel’s voice dropped even lower as he asked, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Shelmaine pretended to be confused. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Samuel’s expression darkened, and his gaze went cold “You’re pregnant.”
shelmaine’s heart raced, and her throat tightened. She instinctively clutched the short “It’s none of your business.”
“It is my business.”
“No, it’s not.”
“You wouldn’t lie. There’s no other man besides me.”
shelmaine turned her face away and tried to get out of bed. But before her feet could touch the floor, Samuel grabbed her wrist. Then, he leaned in closer and said in a low voice,” Are you not going to tell me?”
“Yes,” “Shelmaine admitted to the pregnancy. She met Samuel’s gaze. “It’s obvious that I couldn’t tell you.” Her tone carried a mixture of defiance and resignation.
Samuel replied, “There’s nothing you can’t tell me.”
Shelmaine quickly retorted, “I don’t trust you. Do I need to be more explicir? some things don’t need to be said, but I’ll remind you again–we’re divorced. I don’t need you to take responsibility, I know you’re getting married now, and I won’t interfere.”
Her words were clear, and she maintained a calm demeanor
“Shelmaine.” Samuel pushed her back onto the bed as he gripped her shoulders with increasing force. Now, his face had grown darker and more serious.
shelmaine furrowed brows in pain.
Upon seeing this, Samuel finally loosened his grip and said, “Rest for now. We’ll talk when you’re feeling better.”
“There’s no need! Shemaine exclaimed.
“Are you that angry with me? Samuel said with a half–smile.
His chiseled features were flawless from every angle. Shelmaise had been so blinded by his good looks that she had rushed into marriage with him back then,
