Chapter 589 I Hope Your Dreams Come True!
Chapter 589 I Hope Your Dreams Come True!
Before looking at Terence, Lucy shook her head.
"Terence, I really didn't do it. There isn't even any indication that I would do that! Why would you think it
was me?
This isn't fair to me! It's not fair!"
Lucy felt dejected. The slander that defamed Carla had just spread for a little while, this made her think
that Terence didn't even have the time to find out who did it. But why did he think this was even
remotely related to her? She couldn't understand this.
"Really?" Terence spoke back in a chilly voice. "I'll trust you for now. You better truly have nothing to do
with this.
If I find out you had something to do with the slander, you will regret it."
With his words, Terence strode away without looking back.
While tears were streaming down her face, Lucy leaned against the wall and looked at Terence walking
away.
The argument made the one-year-old baby, Gail cry loudly, "Mother! Mother! Mother!" Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
After Terence came down, he looked at Nathan and said, "Arrange someone to monitor her right now."
He knew... He knew that the short-lived slander was not spread nor done by Lucy. Despite this, he had
a vague feeling that the one who actually did it would find Lucy for aid. He thought that the person who
was behind this whole thing would reveal himself sooner or later.
——
Night came and Terence returned to the Seaview Villa
The cold wind blew past him while the moon shone with its wondrous beauty.
The reason why he came back home late was because he went to see the head of the JA Television
station and the director of the news bureau to try to suppress the spread of the slanderous articles.
"Where is Carla?"
He asked a nearby maid as soon as he entered the villa's doors.
At this moment, Carla was exercising in the boxing room on the third floor.
As Terence came upstairs, he heard the sound of a sandbag being pummeled. He saw the petite
woman in her sports vest, clad in a boxer's attire and boxing gloves, hitting the sandbags.
Even after seeing the barely moving sports equipment, he could tell that she put her all in every punch.
"You should rest for a bit!"
He said as he neared her.
Terence could tell that she had been hitting the bags for quite some time seeing that her clothes were
soaked with sweat.
Upon hearing Terence's voice, Carla stopped punching, and while gasping, she turned around and
looked at him.
"Terence!"
Her vest had been drenched with sweat and strands of her hair were stuck on her cheek, but her little
face was still beautiful, making Terence unable to move his eyes away from her.
He noticed that even though her eyes looked exhausted, they were still sparkling.
Terence moved closer, embraced her and said, "Don't be sad, my dear wife. No matter what happens
in the future, I will never leave your side. Even the fierce floods couldn't separate us, let alone some
petty gossip!"
Carla felt calm as he said those endearing words, she leaned on Terence's shoulder and smiled.
"I'm not afraid of the gossip. Although I was extremely furious at the start, I found out that the news was
mistaken on so many things after reading it properly. This slanderous gossip will disappear by itself
before the truth!"
Hearing her words, Terence held her nearer, pecked her cheek and replied back, "I know... I know...
Carla's the most resilient woman I know. Even so, I'll still get to the bottom of this and clear up your
name.
I solemnly swear that no one can and will hurt you in the future, and I'll be a wall that will keep you safe
forever!"
Carla looked up at him and smiled, "Really? How high is your wall even?" Carla giggled as she teased
him, "If a giant hurts me, what will you do?"
"You think I'm afraid of giants? My family has connections in the military force. If it's a giant who hurts
you then I'll just bomb him down!"
Terence proclaimed with a laugh.
"Hahaha! Does the military force even belong to your family?" Despite knowing that the An family was
extremely powerful, Carla still playfully asked as she moved her hand around his neck.
Suddenly, she looked up at him and said, "What if... what if it was your family trying to hurt me? What
will you do?"
Terence squeezed her even closer and with a smile he said, "I'll still protect you! Even if everyone in my
family abandons me, I'll be happy as long as you are with me!"
Terence's voice was very gentle and affectionate, making Carla feel safe and cozy inside.
"Really? What if the elders of the An family threatens you with your position as the heir?" she asked.
In the spur of the moment, she remembered the news and wondered what he would do if everyone
around him forced him to discard her.
Terence answered without hesitation, "Then I'll just give up the position! The inheritance I have is a
birthright, but it's not something indispensable for me. Even without the AJ Group I still have many
things. But—the most important of them all is you,"
he cheerfully said as his starry eyes looked at her.
He continued, "If that happens, I will lose everything. I will no longer be the master of the An family. Will
you leave me then?"
Carla frantically shook her head and said, "Of course not! We can both live together as we previously
had. I'll look after you!"
Although their previous life was a bit bitter and lacking, they both still felt warm and happy.
Terence's smile grew brighter by the second as he told Carla, "This is why we shouldn't be afraid of
anything!"
In actuality, Terence said all this just to satisfy Carla's imagination seeing as he was the true heir of the
AJ Group and knew this was undeniable. It was impossible for this situation to develop to a point where
he would be forced to give up his position as the true heir.
Even if one day he would have to give up the position birth-righted to him by his family, he still owned
an independent company unaffiliated with the AJ Group. With the company acting as a safeguard,
there were no worries that he would be unable to provide Carla and their daughter a happy life.
"That's right! We need not be afraid of anything! We already have a plan, so we shouldn't care about
those slanderous gossips too much!" Carla said.
Carla's smile seemed to shine even brighter as if she saw the world as her oyster.
As if all the dark clouds that surrounded her disappeared, her world brightened up with Terence as her
sun.
Terence bent down to lift her up in a princess carry, he pecked her lips lightly.
"My dear wife, are you feeling better now?"
"Mm, I'm feeling much better now."
"Do you want me to carry you to bed?"
"Yes!"
Terence felt amused with her cheerful response.
He felt that as long as Carla stayed by his side, he would never regret it no matter what happened in
the future.
Two days passed by.
The rumors about Carla were still spreading everywhere and in full swing.
This however did not affect Carla at all. She was watching TV as if everything that was happening
outside had nothing to do with her.
As she was mindlessly changing the channels, she saw a familiar face on TV and suddenly stopped. It
was Johnny surrounded by reporters.
"Excuse me, Mr. Johnny! Could you tell us what your exact relationship with Ms. Clara is?"
The reporter hectically asked Johnny as he just came out of his house.
"Our relationship? What do you think it is?" Johnny answered.
He helplessly looked at the camera with a wry smile.
"It's said that you and Ms. Carla are lovers and you often meet her in private even after she got
married. Is that true?" the reporter asked, seeming to imply something.
"Miss reporter, I hope your dreams come true!" Johnny responded.
Deep inside, Johnny wished those rumors were actually true. He was in love with Carla from the very
start, and still in love with her even now.
Even if a lot of things happened these past four years, such as Carla going missing, and him getting
married. He would still happily be Carla's lover if she accepted him.
The reporter was speechless for a moment after hearing what Johnny said.
She pondered upon his words 'I hope your dreams come true' as she didn't understand what it meant.
When she saw Johnny leave and was about to enter his car, she asked him, "Mr. Johnny, what did you
mean with those words just now? Can you explain it to us?"
Johnny felt annoyed after being hindered from his schedule. Because of this, he grabbed the
microphone from the reporter, looked at the camera directly, and announced, "I'm here to tell all the
citizens of JA City!"
I will and only will say this once! The first woman I have ever loved in my life is now Mr. Terence's wife,
Carla. I pursued her love when they weren't married. But from then on until now, I have not laid a single
finger on her!"
I acknowledge that I'm not a good man. But if I actually did the things the rumors say I did, then I would
have declared it long ago! I don't know who spread those rumors, but know this, the woman I once
loved is not someone who would cheat on her husband!"
Johnny threw the microphone to the reporter as he concluded his words and quickly entered his car
while clearly looking displeased.
