Chapter 498
At the restaurant, the waiter immediately guided the four of them to a private booth. Then came the fun part: ordering. Soon, the food was brought to the table. It was indeed Mamie who had highly recommended this place, and she was right. The food was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and yes, undeniably spicy.Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
Midway through the meal, Roseanne excused herself to go to the restroom. When she returned, a bowl of icy dessert awaited her on the table. Owen remarked, "Something cold to help with the heat." She thanked him with a smile, feeling grateful for how kind and considerate the Mr. Reynolds was.
After they finished eating, Owen went to pay the bill. Next to the restaurant was a lively night market, bustling with energy and excitement. Madge was eager to explore, and Norris was more than happy to accompany her. Roseanne thought it would be impolite to leave without Owen, so she waited by the entrance for him.
Before long, Owen came out, holding a paper bag. "I noticed you liked it, so I had the waiter pack some for you. Have it tonight, but don't save any leftovers; melon doesn't sit well overnight," he advised. "Okay," Roseanne nodded in agreement.
"Where are Madge and Norris?" Owen inquired. She pointed towards the night market, "They went there." "Shall we join them?" he suggested. "Absolutely!" Roseanne agreed eagerly. If not for waiting on Owen, she would have already been exploring with Madge and Norris.
They strolled side by side, the
streets lined with stalls offering a dizzying array of items, from food and drinks to clothes, accessories and toys. Stopping at a jewelry stall, Roseanne pointed at a gray hair clip, "How much for this?" "10 dollars," the vendor replied. "How can I make it stay put, especially with thicker hair?" she asked.
Roseanne had struggled with hair clips before. Her hair was thick, and previous clips wouldn't hold it well. This one seemed larger and sturdier, which piqued her interest. The stall ownerdemonstrated, "Gather your hair twist, then pull up. Divide your hair, slip your finger through, flip, twist, and secure. Easy, right? In under two minutes, you'll be all set to head out."
Roseanne watched, still unsure. As she was about to let it go, Owen had already paid for the clip. With a reassuring smile, he said, "Turn around." "Huh?" she reacted, a bit startled. "Let me help you," he chuckled. "You said you didn't get it. I did. I'll show you."
"Profess—" she began, feeling a mix of emotions. "Stay still, almost done," he reassured her. And just like that, the clip was securely in place, perfectly holding her hair up.
