Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Chris smiled, "Actually, we are comrades! We fought together."
"We went through a lot. He heard about what happened and wanted to hype up for me with the troops."
Esther heard Chris's words and got disappointed. But at the same time, she was more relieved.
If Chris was Lord Death, going forward, she wouldn't know how to be around him.
Esther lifted her head and said determinedly, "I don't care if you are Lord Death or not. I only knew that
you are my husband and my daughter's father."
Chris was touched by Esther's words.
As a matter of fact, he had wanted to come clean with Esther about everything, but he also knew that
Esther wouldn't be able to handle the truth for now.
In her mind, he was a homeless guy who married into her family. Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
How could he be a formidable Lord Death all of a sudden?
No one would be able to handle such a change.
Susan and John were quite saddened by Chris's response.
"Chris, how can you not be Lord Death? It would be life-changing if you are. No one would dare to
mess with us ever again." Susan lamented with resignation.
Chris glanced at Susan, stole a glimpse of Esther, and responded earnestly, "Though I'm not Lord
Death, I swear that I would never ever let you suffer again. I will make sure you will have the best life."
Susan curled her lips and looked disapproving.
She was so pumped when she thought that Chris was Lord Death. But at the end of the day, she was
excited about nothing.
Chris was still that good-for-nothing tramp!
Esther beamed and nodded, "Yeah. I got faith in you!"
She only discovered how important Chris was to her after what happened.
It was true that she hated him so much and regretted marrying a tramp who left her for five years!
But now, he was back.
Not only did he help to cure Hope's disease, but he also managed to let the Jeffersons and the Collins
go down on their knees in front of her for forgiveness.
Esther was beyond gratitude for what he did.
"Esther, don't you be fooled by his sweet words."
Susan groaned and gazed at Chris, "Chris, why should we believe that you will give us a great life? We
don't even have a home now."
Chris smiled, "Susan, don't worry about it. We will move into a grand mansion in three days."
"Mark your words! If I'm not in a mansion in three days, you will be doomed!"
Esther tried to help Chris out, "Mommy…"
"Don't you even!"
Susan glared at Esther.
Now that she was sure that Chris was not Lord Death, Susan got no reason to be afraid of him.
Susan resumed her dominant tone once again.
"Chris, you know my mom. Don't take her words seriously."
After returning to the basement, Esther said to Chris apologetically.
Chris laughed, "It's okay. I was going to give you guys a mansion anyway. How can I let you live in this
basement after Hope got back from the hospital."
"But …" Esther hesitated.
"No but. I got this."
"All right!"
Esther didn't say further after what Chris said, but she tossed and turned the entire night.
Though Chris was helping them a lot recently, he did not even have a job.
All those mansions were worth millions of dollars, and how could he even get the money?
