Chapter 22: Aren't You Happy To Marry Me
Although Cecil was addressing Martin, his gaze was still on Linda. She looked away nervously, fidgeting with her fingers as she waited for him to continue.
"It seems that you haven't found Leona," he drawled, turning to Martin.
"Cecil, the Ye family made a mistake. It's all our fault. If the Bo family wants to announce this fake marriage, we won't stop you," Martin replied quickly.
"What are you talking about, Uncle Ye? It's true that the Ye family made a mistake by letting Linda marry me, but a matter like this should be solved in private, right? Otherwise, it would bring shame on the Bo family, " Cecil said casually, drawing his lips up into a sme Martin frowned.
He couldn't understand where Cecil was going with this.
Cecil continued, "I'll deal with this matter as I see fit.For now, please give me your household register.I'm taking Linda to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get the marriage certificate. With that, this matter will be settled. After all, I already kept up my end of the bargain when I transferred the money to you the day after the marriage."
Linda subconsciously glanced at her father, who was giving her a questioning look. She shook her head at him, silently relaying that she had no idea what Cecil was planning, either. Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Martin gulped and turned to Cecil.
"Cecil, what do you mean?" Cecil smiled gently.
"Uncle Ye, I thought I made everything clear."
Martin had been ready to deal with the angry side of Cecil, but the sight of the latter's calm face unnerved him.
He let out a sigh of resignation.
What else could he do now but to give Cecil the household register? As long as he gave Cecil the household register now, the Ye family would be tortured slowly and steadily in the future.
If he didn't give it to him, the Ye Group would be destroyed within three days.
No doubt, this was the business genius of Los City! After leaving the Ye family's villa, Cecil asked his driver to take them to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
On the way, Linda anxiously wrung her hands.
She had never expected that she would end up getting married like this.
She had already had a marriage ceremony with the man of her dreams, and now, they were about to solidify it with a marriage certificate.
However, whatever the future had in store seemed to be daunting.
After getting the marriage certificate at the Civil Affairs Bureau, Cecil and Linda got into the car again.
She sat next to the window with the certificate in her hand.
As the car drove home, she carefully turned her head to look at the man beside her, who was resting his eyes as usual.
Then, she looked down at the marriage certificate in her hand for a moment before slowly opening it.
Inside was a photo of the two of them that had been taken just now.
Although there were standing close to each other, Cecil looked expressionless, while Linda looked restrained and uneasy.
Without thinking, Linda raised her hand, letting her fingers hover over Cecil's face in the photo.
Looking at his familiar handsome features, her heart soared.
The man she had loved in secret for so many years was now her husband.
A faint smile appeared on her face.
While she was immersed in her own world, she suddenly heard the voice of the man next to her.
"You do seem to like me very much."
Linda's fingers shrank back in embarrassment, and she closed the marriage certificate in a hurry.
She cleared her throat and looked away, not knowing how to diffuse the embarrassment.
Even though she wasn't looking at Cecil, she knew that he must be sneering at her.
It seemed that he would never let go of an opportunity to mock her.
Sure enough, he suddenly reached out and held her chin, forcing her to face him.
"Since you like me so much, aren't you happy to marry me?"
"No"" Linda answered immediately.
"Really?"
