Let Me Go, My Mafia Husband

Chapter 619

Chapter 619 Give Me A Chancenoveldrama

*Selena*

The wedding was halted, and when I was summoned to appear before the Council for my trial, I didn't even have time to change out of my wedding dress-a traditional royal attire of the Lunar Realm.

I glanced down at the silver blouse, its snug fit and intricate embroidery catching the light. The flowing silk skirt swayed gracefully around my legs as I moved and its elegance was undeniable. A delicate veil, pinned at the crown of my hair, trailed behind me, secured by a crescent moon clip. The diamond jewelry I wore sparkled brilliantly, perfectly complementing the attire and completing the regal look.

I must have looked like the most beautiful bride today because Zander's gaze hadn't faltered for even a second since it landed on me. His expression was one of pure astonishment, his eyes wide and unblinking. My cheeks grew warm, and I was certain they were flushed as red as a ripe tomato. His gaze roamed over me, slow and deliberate, filled with raw hunger.

I fought the urge to squirm under his openly possessive stare. It was both thrilling and ironic to see him look at me this way, especially while I stood there wearing a wedding dress meant for another man. Arena was just as thrilled to see him as I was, and for a moment, I wanted to run straight into his arms, forgetting everything I had once promised about my obligations to the Lunar Realm. Huh, such a horny wolf I had for myself. But I couldn't blame her for feeling this way, because with the way our mate looked, it was natural for a woman to desire him. Goddess, how was it even fair that he had to look so irresistible?

But wasn't he the one who had sent those summons and demanded my presence before the council? Mate, huh?! I hadn't forgotten that he was one of the council members, the most powerful alpha-the Alpha King of the North.

"Queen Selena," the council head said, drawing my attention. "Alpha Zander has made accusations against you, claiming that despite being aware that you are his mate, you are planning to marry a god. Do you accept these accusations?"

I took a deep breath, unsure how to explain myself to the council. I couldn't disclose that the Lunar Realm was in danger and what my true purpose was behind marrying the god Kaelvor. I wasn't allowed to reveal the prophecy or the reason behind my birth. It would be far too dangerous if the other realms learned of it. They would seek to destroy the Lunar Realm before the doom day, and rule over the land I was supposed to protect.

"Who I marry is my decision, and no one has the right to intervene," I stated with authority.

"No, mate. You can't marry another man while I'm still alive," Zander stood, his lustful gaze replaced by a frown. "Either kill me and marry him, or marry me and be my Luna, live by my side."

I bit back a smile. Always so confident that was one of the things that made me fall in love with him more every time I heard his voice.

I glanced at my mother, and she gave me a look that reminded me to stay strong in my resolution, not to be swayed by my hot alpha mate.

"I accept neither of those options. I am a descendant of the Moon Goddess, and don't consider you worthy to marry me and rule by my side," I bit the inside of my cheek as said the e. He was the only one ever wanted, and he was everything to me. Having him in my life meant I needed no one else. But I had to say these hurtful words to make him back off and let me go. Arena growled in my head in pain, though she also knew why I said those words to our mate. But seeing the pain on his face made her feel despair.

His face fell, and for a moment, I thought he had accepted his defeat. I wasn't sure if I wanted him to feel that way. No matter if I won or lost, I never wanted to see that defeated look on his face.

But just as I thought it was over, Zander's intense gaze lifted to meet mine, and I saw a spark of determination in them.

"Then give me a chance to prove I'm

worthy of you," his declaration left

me speechless, and the entire council was filled with murmurs.

"Yes, that's a fair deal."

"Alpha Zander is right."

"He deserves a chance."

Holy hell. Now what could I say to sway the council's verdict in my favor?
