Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Lenny snapped back to his senses, turned around, and walked toward the villa.
One of the servants took the girl to get familiar with the villa and the environment. She was tired after a
long flight and was taken to one of the bedrooms to get some rest.
Meanwhile, Lenny checked the information gathered on her by his assistant, Drake Cooper.
"Her name is Rosaline Marshall. She is Vivian Marshall's younger sister and an illegitimate daughter of
her father. She didn't live with the Marshalls. That night, when Vivian drugged you, she happened to
have something to talk about with Vivian, so she went to see her and stumbled upon her sister's
scheme. Rosaline wanted to save you, but..."
After a pause, Drake continued, "After that, you took revenge on Vivian and her family. Their company
went bankrupt, and they fell from riches to rags almost overnight. Vivian vented all her resentment on
her sister and tortured her for the past three months. Rosaline barely made it when she was finally
taken to the hospital after she was rescued. The trauma that she suffered led to some mental health
problems. Our men have searched for evey girl in Mistbush whose description fits the one you've
given. She's the only exact match."
Lenny had always trusted Drake. After checking everything carefully, the assistant concluded that
Rosaline was the girl Lenny had been looking for.
Thinking of what Rosaline had suffered in the last three months, Lenny couldn't help feeling guilty.
"Get the best doctor and have him or her check on Rosaline. No one dares to hurt her here, is that
clear?"
With a nod, Drake turned around and left.
Lenny came into Rosaline's bedroom and found her sleeping soundly on the bed. She was the first
woman he had ever slept with and also the only. He must protect her well.
After a few moments, Lenny left and closed the door behind him. There was a video conference waiting
for him.
On his way, he saw a servant coming out of one of the guest rooms after cleaning it. It was the room
that Scarlet had stayed in.
In the entire year that she lived in the villa, Scarlet never entered the master bedroom or the study. She
knew her place and had always behaved herself.
If Lenny hadn't had sex with Rosaline that night, he would've actually thought that Scarlet made a very
suitable wife for him. She obeyed him and made him comfortable.
Their marri
age had been simple. And they parted on amicable terms.
Lenny thought that Scarlet was timid, but now it seemed that she really was a stubborn and tough girl.
Thinking of what Scarlet said, he stopped the servant and asked, "Did Scarlet leave anything in her
room?"
"No, she didn't, sir. She came with one suitcase when she moved in here. That was all she took away
with her when she left. She didn't take anything in the villa with her."
"Really? She didn't take anything else away?" This surprised Lenny.
"I'm telling the truth, sir. Miss Brown didn't spend a penny of the Foster family. She even left behind the
gifts that your mother and grandmother gave her. They're in the guest room, sir, if you want to check."
The servant answered Lenny's questions promptly and thought of Scarlet.
Scarlet was easy-going and friendly. She was always chatting with the villa staff, having meals with
them, and helping them with their work. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
When the weather was too hot or too cold, she would be considerate and not let them tire themselves.
She never wasted food, and she lived a frugal life. She thought that as long as there was enough food
for everyone at the villa, the cook shouldn't prepare more than what was needed.
All the servants were saddened by her leaving. She was such a kind, gentle, and level-headed woman.
Not long after Scarlet left, they didn't expect that Lenny would bring home another woman so soon.
What was more, Lenny showed the new girl great concern, which he had held back from Scarlet. The
servants felt that their master was being totally unfair.
Lenny was behaving like a jerk!
"Sir, if you don't have any other orders, I'll go back downstairs."
After saying that, the servant left with some resentment in her heart.
Lenny furrowed his eyebrows. What the servant said came as a surprise to him.
In a daze, Scarlet wandered around with no idea where to go. Unexpectedly, she ran into a familiar car.
It was her sister's.
Colleen got out of the car and looked at Scarlet with her head held high.
"Get in the car. I'll take you home. And I have something to ask you."
Colleen sounded like she was reading a criminal her rights, which made Scarlet unhappy.
"We have nothing to talk about. Leave me alone. I have to go to school."
Although Scarlet was a member of the Brown family, she was treated like a doormat at home.
