Chapter 42
Chapter 42
Scarlet came to her senses and pulled her hands back, as if she had just touched a livewire.
"I... I didn't mean it... Do you believe me?" she stammered, almost biting her tongue.
With a sullen face, Lenny climbed to his feet.
He took a look outside. It was raining heavily yesterday, but today, the sun was shining brightly.
He ignored Scarlet, grabbed his already dry clothes from yesterday, and went to the bathroom. Clad in
his own clothes, he left the apartment in big strides, without saying a word.
When the door shut, Scarlet was still in a daze. Was it over?
When Lenny didn't come back, she heaved a big sigh of relief.
Lenny called Drake to pick him up. After getting in the car, Lenny closed his eyes and knitted his brows.
Then, he loosened his tie, undid a few buttons on his shirt, and rolled down his window.
Savoring the cold breeze on his face, he began to calm down.
"Is there anything bothering you, sir?" Drake asked.
Hearing this, Lenny narrowed his eyes slightly.
Was there anything bothering him?
Earlier, when Scarlet's lips pressed against his, all he could think about was having a taste of her.
That night, he was drugged, and his libido went into overdrive. Since then, he had never felt that kind of
desire and lust again, not even when he met Rosaline.
However, when he felt Scarlet's lips against his, he almost leaned into it. He wanted so badly to kiss
her deeply and passionately.
When she accidentally touched his crotch, he almost lost control, and his reason dashed madly to the Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
verge of collapse.
He didn't dare to stay in Scarlet's apartment any longer. He quickly changed his clothes and left. He
was afraid that if he stayed, he would do something crazy.
"Do you think I'm a rational person, Drake?"
"In my eyes, sir, you have always been a rational and calm person, but..."
Drake wanted to say something more but stopped on second thought.
"Go ahead."
"After what happened with Miss Marshall that night, you didn't give up until you found her. Now you're
insisting on marrying her. I don't mean to speak out of turn, sir, but I find that unacceptable. Miss
Marshall is innocent but so is Miss Brown.
Although you didn't have feelings for each other, Miss Brown didn't do anything wrong during your
marriage. In the past year, she had behaved herself and created an amicable relationship between
your mother and grandmother. They get along well now, and it's because of Miss Brown. She had
made a good home for you, sir, and then you asked her for a divorce. I just don't think that's fair."
"Rosaline is pregnant with my child. I must marry her."
"But what about Miss Brown?" Drake asked.
Drake and Scarlet weren't familiar with each other, and he had always been obedient to Lenny, but this
time, Drake was defending Scarlet.
Drake's question made Lenny's heart tremble, as if electricity was surging through his chest, and he
couldn't calm down for a long time.
Honestly, he didn't feel anything when he looked at Scarlet on the day of their divorce. But after that,
every time they met, they got to know each other better. He got to witness her stubbornness, her strong
will, and her sensibility.
But it was useless to know all of that now. They had divorced, and Rosaline was pregnant with his
child. He couldn't leave her alone.
He and Scarlet would only remain ex-husband and ex-wife.
"I will still take good care of Scarlet."
"But..."
"Enough, Drake. You already talked too much today," Lenny snapped.
He let coldness and indifference coat his words.
Hearing the annoyance in his boss's voice, Drake shut his mouth.
Drake had dealt with Rosaline properly. He told her that Lenny had an important client to meet. Lenny
always attached great importance to his work, and no private matter could stop him from doing his job.
So Rosaline believed Drake without any doubts.
And Lenny didn't want Rosaline to get angry because of Scarlet. From now on, he would no longer
have any contact with Scarlet.
The weather was getting better, and classes were back in session.
Yasmin was coming home from abroad.
After school, Scarlet went to the airport to pick her up. She couldn't wait to see her best friend again.
