chapter 1: is Starbucks cursed?
chapter 1: is Starbucks cursed?
Jacqueline's POV
This week was not going well for me. Everything is just happening all at once. My stress levels are
skyrocketing. I'm more pissy than usual...
I needed a break. Desperately.
Looking out of the Starbucks window, I shamelessly eyed the two hot boys across the road talking to
each other. One had (obviously dyed) blonde hair with tan skin and a narrow muscular body to match. I
noticed he had Black Timberlands. The other beautiful specimen had curly brown hair, tan skin as well
and he had muscles in all the right places. His t-shirt hugged his body perfectly and you could see his
abs and v-lines.
Can I get some water, please?
They started laughing, throwing their heads back and headed towards the café. Abort mission! (Though
they do look good as they walk.)
Someone beside me cleared their throat quite loudly. Who the hell is interrupting my thirsty thoughts? I
looked up to a freakishly tall, and intimidatingly pretty girl.
"That's my seat." She barked snarkily. Okay, I do not want to get on her bad side.
"Is your name on it?" Oh, but I just had to!
"Excuse me-"
I cut her off with a, "You're excused!"
Gasping loudly—because she just had to— she shifted her position and noticeably clenched her fist.
"Who the hell do you think you are? Do you know who I am?"
"A human being." I was just looking for trouble today.
"No. But you're going to be a human slushie." And because she ordered a Caramel Frappaccino, I now
had the gooey, deliciousness that was a wasted Starbucks drink covered on my white off-shoulder
sweater and my beautiful hair. I just sat there as she stormed off because I'm so nice. I should've given
her a hug, but I'm not the affectionate type.
Two deep chuckles sounded from the counter, which caused me to look in that direction. It was those
two hot boys. And they were laughing at me.
This doesn't feel good. For some reason, my eyes started glossing over and I found myself running to
the ladies' room. Why, I don't know. I looked into the mirror and took in my puffy eyes and dirty, sticky
hair that matched my sweater. I was a mess.
I never really paid attention to a boy's reaction towards me. I never cared. All I focused on was
schoolwork and scholarships. That's how I got into University. Sure, my parents were rich, but I
believed in earning your rewards, not getting them handed to you on a silver platter. I just thought that
boys were a distraction. That, however, didn't stop me from appreciating the male species. During high
school, I'd see girls happy with their boyfriends. Seemingly complete with a spark in their eyes. But
then some girls just looked distraught the next day. I guess I'm afraid of heartbreak. Some part deep
inside of me always wanted a boy's attention. But not this kind.
Right as I was washing my face, a knock sounded from the door. Who knocks to enter the ladies' room.
"Hey, are you okay?" Ooh, that voice.
"We're sorry for laughing at you. We didn't mean to hurt you. Can we come in?" Aww, they cared.
"Yeah." My voice sounded strained. The boys came in in all their glory and I sighed. Yep, that's right, I
sighed.
"Wow, I didn't think we were that bad." Curly spoke. I guess Blondie was the one who asked if I was
okay.
"No, I didn't sigh because of you." Oh yes, you did. "It was because I uh...washed my face...and I can't
breathe in water." I blurted out. I'm screwed.
Blondie decided to speak up, "You're a very bad liar, babe."
"I'm a great liar," No, I'm not. "I'm just flustered by your hotness." My eyes widened as they both
smirked. Wtf?
"Thanks, babe. But I think you should shut up. Just stick to being pretty, or else, you'll end up
embarrassing yourself even more." Blondie had blue eyes. Damn.
"Who are you to tell me to shut up."
When Curly stepped forward to me, I immediately stepped back causing him to stop. "Relax, we won't
hurt you."
He came to wrap his arms around me and pulled me towards him. Great, now I'm squished between
his ever-so-lean torso and his beautiful, beautiful bicep. Snap out of it!
We all walked out the ladies' room and exited Starbucks. When we stopped at a red Mercedes, I spoke
again. "Wait a second, why am I following you guys?"
"Please get in the car." Blondie dead panned.
"I don't even know you guys," I opened the door, "Why should I trust you?" I got in, "You could be
murderers." I put on the seatbelt. "Or psychos."
Curly turned and smiled. "If we're psychos, why did you get in?"
"Because I'm stupid."
He chuckled and pulled on a lock of my disgusting hair tenderly. "You really should just stick to being
pretty."
As he turned I mumbled, "I still don't know who you guys are." Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Baby, we're your worst nightmare."
We drove onto the highway and I rested my head on my hand. What did I get myself into?
