At this time, Eudora, who was in a daze on the roadside, was startled by the ringtone of her phone.
She picked up the phone and saw it was called by Chasel.
"Eudora, aren't you going to treat me to dinner? What? Do you want to take back your words?"
Chasel's teasing voice sounded on the phone.
Eudora could feel Chasel was so carefree and happy even through the phone.
She envied Chasel for a moment.
She was envious of him because he was born into a wealthy family. Even though he was ridiculed by
everyone, he would not be affected and still do whatever he wanted.
"Of course not. See you at Penguin Diner in an hour."
"Alright. I'll be there right away. Do you want me to pick you up?"
"No need."
"Okay then. See you later."
After hanging up the phone, Eudora rode her battery cart to Philomel Club.
When she met the manager at the club, she offered to resign. The manager readily agreed and asked
the finance department to settle her wages.
Eudora knew Philomel Club was under Colbert's name, so she was not surprised that the manager
readily agreed to her resignation.
Then she said goodbye to her friends in the security department. As Hugh was not here, Eudora could
only invite him to dinner next time.
After leaving the club, she rode to Penguin Diner. When she arrived, Chasel had already parked his
flamboyant royal blue Maserati aside.
He was sitting inside, playing with his phone, and waiting for her.
Eudora suddenly felt Chasel was more approachable than Colbert, although he was also born into a
wealthy family.
Eudora stepped forward and knocked on the car window. Through the half-slit car window, she said to
Chasel, "Are you flirting with girls again? Are you not afraid of being punished for ruining those little
girls?"
Eudora said in a teasing tone.
Seeing her coming, Chasel put away his phone, opened the car door, and got out of the car. "What can
I do? I am so charming. All those young ladies like to be around me."
"That's a little cheeky."
Eudora had a look of disdain on her face.
In Kenison City, although Chasel was known for being a playboy, no one dared to offend her due to the
power of the Burke family.
Only Eudora could get close to Chasel and complain about him.
"Let's go. For having dinner with you, I didn't even have lunch."
"Don't make excuses. You must be hanging out with a woman at noon."
They talked while walking to the diner.
Eudora thought Chasel had never been to a cheap diner, so she ordered a lot of food.
After ordering the food, she realized that the people around her cast strange glances at them from time
to time.
"Gracious. That handsome guy is so rich. His car is the latest Maserati, worth more than 30 million
dollars."
"The girl sitting across from him is really ugly."
"She is ugly but knows rich and handsome guys. I guess her family is also wealthy."
"That makes sense."
...
Listening to the whispers of the crowd, Eudora and Chasel could still overhear a few words.
Eudora didn't care about it. She looked at Chasel and said, "How about... sitting inside?"
She was afraid that he couldn't bear the strange eyes and the criticism from people.
"Are you afraid I will feel ashamed? You are so wrong."
As Chasel was speaking, the boss brought over two bottles of beer. Chasel pried off the bottle caps,
poured two glasses of beer, and took a sip. "Since I was a child, I've been hearing the harsher words
every day. But I still enjoy my life.
"Don't pay too much attention to other people. Live for yourself."
Chasel raised his eyebrows and looked at Eudora. He added, "When you learn to be tough, you will not
be hurt by gossip. It's also a way to protect yourself. Cheers."
"I can't drink."
Eudora knew she was pregnant, so she could only lie. "I have a period. I'll drink soda."
She had known Chasel for three or four months, but they were in Philomel Club most of the time.
It was the first time that they came out to have dinner.
From his words, Eudora suddenly discovered that perhaps Chasel was not a good-for-nothing in the
eyes of others.
