Crying shoulder
“Are you fucking kidding me, Zachary?” I blurted out the moment I saw his house. Is this even considered a house? This structure is a freaking castle.
“No, why would I? Such a waste of time, come on, my Abuelo are already there, I can smell them,”
I chuckled, “Are you some kind of dog that you can smell from here?”
“Hey! That’s offensive!” he said, but I shrugged it off and went inside with him; I was walking behind him; of course, this is not my house.
The house was like from the Renaissance period. Classy, although I feel something was off the moment I stepped in, my question is, why the hell am I here? Zachary says it was work-related, so why am I here?
“Good evening, my lord, mistress,” a middle-aged man greeted us the moment we stepped into the hallway, a chandelier with so much stone was above us, giving us the noble family vibes, there are glass windows everywhere, and some wait, are those wolfsbane?
“Where are they?” Zachary asked; the middle-aged man followed us, “I can’t feel them,” If we are not with someone else right now, I will be laughing in his face.
“They in the middle room, my lord,” He answered like it was a serious question. I’m amazed at how they interact with each other like it’s on a daily basis.
We passed through a long red-carpeted floor before we were able to see the stairs; I was walking carefully, while him, walking carelessly and noisy, I didn’t even want to make a sound using my shoes, but it was useless since the house was so quiet that I can hear my breath.
“Don’t hold your breath. You’ll die,” I can sense the humor in his words, but I decided not to react to him picking on me; I’m just tired from my whole day, “You’re not speaking, are you okay?” I kept on walking beside him; his walk slowed for a bit so that I could cope with him, “Hey,”
We passed through another, I think seven rooms before I decided to talk, “You got me a ton of papers, and by now,” I glanced at my wristwatch, “I should be on my bed, resting, because I have to deal with your outdated files again, for I don’t fucking know why, but here I am, walking with you, on your mansion, telling me this is a job related, which I beg to disagree, I don’t need to eat with your Abuelo, because I have nothing to do with your family, I want to go home, so don’t ask me if I’m okay because I’m not, I’m tired, stupid,”
He was looking at me; the shock was evident in his eyes like he had never spoken like that in his entire existence; he was about to say something when a loud laugh echoed through the hall, and that’s when I realized that the door next to us was widely open.
And there, two middle-aged people, four in their twenties, and seven in their thirties or forties, and three children, looking at me, flabbergasts, like I disrespected their father.
“What a scene,” the middle-aged man said, “Come here, young lady, we have so much to talk about,”
Like I said, my mouth will always bring trouble to me, for sure. No matter how, when, and where. Damn it.
“Ms. Vera? Are you okay, girl?” I came back from my reverie when I felt Danica gently tapping my shoulder; I saw her, looking at me, confused, “Uh, you have been holding that paper for a while, are you not tired? Are you okay? Do you want me to help you?”
“Uh,” I smiled out of embarrassment, “No, I’m uh, I’m fine, you can get back to work, thank you, Danica, I’ll just have my coffee,”
I said and immediately went to the pantry; what the fuck is happening to me? I couldn’t get rid of the thoughts of what had happened to Zachary’s house three days ago; after that day, I didn’t dare to talk with Zachary again; I did all the possible ways to avoid him.
I just accepted all the papers he was giving me, all the useless tasks he was asking me to do, and all the meetings he kept asking for my presence. I don’t want to deal with him; I’m too ashamed to do so.
“Ms. Everleigh,” I almost spit my coffee after hearing Julian behind me, I put down my cup and wipe my lips, to at least look presentable, “I’m sorry to startle you, while you have your break,”
I nod, “Not a problem. Do you need anything?” I’m praying that it’s not related to Zachary because I don’t want to see him now. He’s a freaking asshole!
“Yes, actually, Mr. Zachary needed you right now, and he instructed me to bring you to his office; whether you like it or not, my job will be at risk if I don’t give what he asked me to do,”
I gritted my teeth; this fucking man is something; I sighed, “I’m coming. Let me get the papers he asked me this morning,”
“He asked you to do some papers?” he asked, confused, “Why didn’t I hear about that?”
I shrugged, “I don’t know,” I grabbed the pile of documents and walked with Julian, he’s not a friendly guy, he’s serious with his work like he was even paid not to talk, I don’t know, maybe, I don’t even care. All I want is my job.
We arrived at the president’s floor, like usual, it was quiet, all I could hear was our shoes, walking on the hall, this floor was restricted, and you can only come, if you are asked to, that’s how jerk he is. He left me when we were already in front of his office door.
I knocked three times before I entered, I roamed my eyes, and he wasn’t around, so I sat, even if I wasn’t invited, I can’t just stand there, I’m still tired, jeez. I didn’t dare to hold anything from his office; I’m afraid that he will have it against me too.
I fished my phone; when I felt its vibrate on my pencil skirt, I had one pocket to put my phone inside; I also put the files on the center table, and an unregistered caller ID flashed on my screen, “Hello?”
“I heard you’re working on a great company,” the moment I heard that voice, my body tensed up, shaking; I wasn’t able to utter any word, “How was it to use your body to get all the things you’re having right now? Was it fulfilling? Hmm?”
“How did you get my number,” that was the only thing I could ask, “How the hell you were able to contact me, huh?”
I heard his fucking laugh from the other line, enjoying my reaction right now, “My dear, Vera, I still got you in my hands,”
I gritted my teeth and closed my fist; my eyes started to water, out of so much anger, “Don’t you dare cause any trouble in me, you dickhead,”
“I’ll call you again, when you get home, in your little pink bed,” he said, then the line ended, I can’t move an inch, I was frozen in my spot, and my tears start to stream from my eyes, this is not fear, not sadness, this is anger, I am mad with them, with my oh so-called family, I hate them.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“What the fuck do they want? Can’t I just cut my string with them?” I muttered. I couldn’t care less; whoever saw me this, I can’t even wipe my fucking tears, I hate them! I hate them! I wish I could kill them right now! I had– I halt when I felt a warm arm embrace me.
“Ssshh, hush now, it’s alright,”
I shouldn’t be crying more, but my heart melts when I felt his warmth, “Zachary,”
“Cry, I’m here,”
