Thirty
My friends hastily push me into the storage closet as Tiwa shuts the door behind her. Noah crosses his arms, smirking at me and tilting his head to the side.
“What is this about? Why are we in a fucking storage closet when we are supposed to be out there checking on our patients.” I ask, crossing my arms as I shift my gaze from Noah to Tiwa.
“Come on, Rob. What the fuck was that? You and Dominique Gray?”
What? So this is about Dominique Gray. Why did I think otherwise?
“Everyone who was eating at the cafeteria and the ones who may have just stopped by to grab a bottle of water saw everything,” Tiwa says.
“Okay. Meaning you guys saw everything too, why are we here then?”
“Deets, Robyn. Give us the deets. We’re dying for it.” Noah says. Always so dramatic.
“It was nothing. We were just talking.”
“That doesn’t look like talking. From where I was standing I could feel the sexual tension between you.” Tiwa says.
“Me too. Like literally. You guys should just have sex and get it over with.” Noah says.
I roll my eyes. “We’re not having sex anytime soon.”
“Is that so?”
“That’s so,” I say as a matter of fact even though I don’t trust the words that just left my mouth.
I groan, rubbing the heel of my palms against my eyes. “Nothing happened, for real. We were just talking.”
“Okay…” Noah pressures, staring at me with his big doe eyes.
“Robyn, we’re just surprised, you know. We just wanna know what the fuck is going on with you and Dominique? New York’s finest and elite bachelor.”
“Ugh. New York’s finest, huh? That’s just cliche.” I point out, grinning.
“Whatever, you know what I mean,” Tiwa says.
“And I, in particular, am interested in knowing how this started in the first place. Anyone could tell you guys are not strangers.” Noah says, his gaze fixed on me.
“Okay, since you guys are desperate enough about what transpired between me and Dominique. I’ll give you the short version. Tiwa already knew I hit his car and ran away, so”
“Wait, you hit Dominique Gray’s car and ran away?” Noah asks, eyebrows lifted and eyes widened.
“Something like that. It’s a long time ago, I think we may have sorted it out.”
Noah turns to look at Tiwa. “This really happened? And no one chose to tell me?”
“Because we don’t want you to react the exact way you’re reacting now. Dramatic.” Tiwa points out and turns to look at me, giving me a gesture to continue.
“You guys remember the night Monique and I went to Club Rogue, right?” I ask. They both nod. “Great. I got drunk, blacked out, and the next day I woke up half-naked in Dominique’s bed. Not his bed actually, his guest bedroom.”
“He was your one-night stand?” They ask in unison, both clearly entertained by all of this.
“God, no. Thankfully, nothing happened.”
“Thankfully, huh?” Noah teases as he wiggles his eyebrows.
“Yes, Noah, thankfully. I didn’t even remember what transpired between us the night before. It took me about a week later to remember, it was shit. I was a mess, a flirty seductive mess and I may have flirted with him and thrown it at his face that I was interested.” I groan, running both my fingers down my hair. “It was stupid.”
“Stupid? So you’re telling us that you’re not interested in the smokin’ hot billionaire? Is that what you’re saying?” Noah asks, watching me carefully.
I feel like I’m in court, being questioned for something that I am very much guilty of.
“Probably, yeah.” I cross my arms and shrug my shoulders as I avoid my friends’ gazes. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
“Probably, yeah? Damn, you’re in lust. With that, it’s obvious you want a piece of him.” Tiwa says, grinning.
“And as they say, alcohol brings out the other side of us that we’re too ashamed to show the world,” Noah says and I roll my eyes.
“Nobody said that, Noah.”
“You’ll be surprised people did say that,” Noah says.
“And just so we understand, Dominique wants to have sex with you, right?”
“Yep. He makes sure to remind me every fucking time we have a conversation. He even propositioned me. He asked me to go on a date with him and also he wanted me to give him a chance. He’s promising me one night, one night that I won’t be able to forget.”
“And why aren’t you grabbing that opportunity with both hands? Isn’t that what you want?”
I turn to playfully glare at Noah. “And how would you know what I want?”
“Clearly, he’s offering you one night of pleasure, what’s the harm in that? You both are adults, and even a blind bat could tell you’re attracted to this man, even though you claim to hate him. Also, he’s hot, he’s fucking hot, and he’s not some other guy, Robyn. He’s Dominique fucking Gray. An opportunity like this always comes in a lifetime.” Tiwa says.
They’re doing it again. They’re doing what they promised they wouldn’t do. Interfering with my personal life and trying to get me laid.
“And also, we know a romantic relationship is the last thing on your to-do list right now. I’m pretty sure Dominique is not looking for love either. You both are horny, and sexually attracted to each other, why can’t you just fuck each other, and get it over with? You’re obviously not gonna see him again after the deed is done. Everyone goes their separate ways, with the memory of one night the both of you wouldn’t forget so easily. You should say yes.” Noah says and Tiwa nods in affirmation.
They say it like it’s so easy. Dominique Gray is an arrogant, sweet-talking, manipulative billionaire. The moment I agree to what he’s proposing, I’m going to be like other girls. The girls who fell for every one of his sweet words. The girl who’s like other girls. He knew from the start that I was going to fall for his charms, and he used that to his advantage.
You should back out of this, Robyn, there’s no guarantee you’re gonna win his games. He’s fucking good.
But it’s too late now, isn’t it? I let his dirty words get into my head, and now I want him to do things to me, even if it’s for one night. It’s up to me to show him two can play, and he’s not going to get out of this without begging for more.
That, I am sure of.
“Earth to Robyn,” Noah calls, snapping his pale, slender fingers in front of my face.
“Come on, guys. Let’s get out of here.” I flash them a small smile.
“Is that a triumphant smile? You know, the smile that means you’re finally going to let go and have fun?” Noah asks.
“Something like that,” I say, grinning.
“Yes! That’s my girl.” Noah says, a big grin on his face like I just told him I won a billion dollars so I’m giving him half.
“That’s the spirit, Robyn.” Tiwa smiles at me as she throws her arm around my shoulder.
Noah unlocks the storage door and we step out, grinning and giggling like children. As we shut the door, Caroline Peters steps out of the corner of the hallway, obviously just coming out of the restroom. We pause in our tracks as Caroline flashes me a wicked smile.
“Robyn Denver. Wow, who knew you had such an intense relationship with one of our stockholders, Dominique Gray, for that matter.”
“Okay…”
“Let me guess. He’s your one-way ticket in securing a permanent job in St. Jose, isn’t that right?”
“Beat it, Peters.” Tiwa, who’s standing by my right says as she glares at Caroline. “Everyone knows you’re worth nothing. If it wasn’t for your mom, you wouldn’t be here. You should be grateful and not try to show the whole fucking world what a nuisance you are.”
Caroline is speechless and taken off guard. She clenches and unclenchs her jaw as she glares at us. Tiwa just said what I would have said to her, but maybe more brutal.
“Why don’t you sit on that, you fucking cunt.” I say to Caroline, a triumphant grin on my face as we walk past her.
“You know I’ve been thinking..,” Caroline says as we turn to look at her. “What will the hospital board say when they find out you’ve been whoring yourself around? Especially with a certain Doctor.” She smirks at me, taking slow strides toward us as she stops in front of me. “I obviously don’t have any beef with either of you, this is about me and Denver.” Caroline says as she locks eyes with me, a devilish smirk on her pale face.
“I can make you lose your job with just a flick of my finger, Denver. You shouldn’t underestimate me.” Caroline says as she turns around and walks away. Noah proceeds to go after her, but I stop him.
“I bet she underestimated me too.” I exhale my breath through my nose. “Come on, guys, let’s go,” I say as I turn around to walk down the opposite direction of Caroline, with my friends behind me.
“Should you be worried about her?” Tiwa asks.
“Nope.”
“Okay.”
