His Ex-wife Is An Heiress (Amara and Tobias)

Chapter 0075

"You don't just give up, do you?" Bethany said, eyeing Tobias with annoyance.

"I just want to apologize to her for what Fiona did, nothing more." He explained, his eyes focused on Amara who was leaning heavily against Bethany.

"Is it only Fiona's mistake you're going to apologize for?" Bethany response was as cryptic as it could get, but Tobias clearly understood what she meant.

She was demanding an apology, not only for Fiona and Giselle's mistake, but also his. It was because of his neglect that Amara had gone through so much at the hands of the people he considered family.

Just imagining her standing in the raining and begging Fiona not to convince him to divorce her, had that unfamiliar feeling of guilt towards Amara washing over him.

"I'll take her inside, please." Saying this, Tobias walked forward and reached out, intending to carry Amara.

However, before he could, Amara lifted her head and looked at him. "You... "For a second, she seemed to recognize Tobias, but then her expression crumbled, turning sour as she left Bethany's side and walked, stumbled towards him. When she nearly tripped, Tobias reached out and instinctively caught her, bringing her body close to his as support.

He stared down at her drunk for briefly wondering how much she had drank. From behind, Bethany transferred the weight to her less dominant leg and sighed.

If anyone ever told her that this two had parted ways on a clean slate and didn't have even the smallest ounce of feelings for each other, she would have called them a liar.

Because even in Amara's drunken state, the name she had called several times, said it all. And even though Tobias's stoic expression tried it's best, it couldn't hide that warm look Tobias got in his expression, ever so often, when he glanced at Amara. It was so freaking clear, but Bethany seemed to be the only one seeing it.

Once again she sighed. These two needed to sort their shit out.

"Five minutes, I'll wait in my car. Say all you want." Saying this, she turned around and headed to her car. "And you best take care of her during that time, Tobias. If anything happens to her, you're dead."

The male didn't bother responding and instead, focused his attention on the female in his arms.

""You're drunk, Amara, badly."

If Amara knew this, she didn't believe it. Rather, she believed the illusion that her mind had created. The illusion that she was still married to Tobias and this was one of the days when Giselle and Fiona had decided to act like a pair of madmen. Freely, she allowed her body lean into his, no longer fighting and struggling against him like she did in her sober form.

"Why did you have to come home so late, Tobias?" That was the first word that left her mouth. She was looking at him, her eyes filled with sadness. "Your mother and Fiona, they..." She hesitated, weighting the options of whether she should tell him or continue to suffer in silence.

The latter had been a choice for far too long and just for today, Amara felt like she could speak out.

"Your mother and Fiona, they're not treating me

me do all sorts of mean things. I

clean sort, Toby. They make

clean while the servants are around, cook, but eat leftovers given by the servants, they practically turned me into a servant, Toby." She

complained.

Tobias's expression was hesitant, but he was reluctant to ask the question that had lunged itself in his throat because he knew the answer, knew it well, but still, he wanted to ask. "Why didn't you ever speak up?"

Silence followed and it was the kind of silence that lasted for so long, it began to weigh him down.

Amara's lips curled into an innocent looking smile and for the first time, Tobias could see how innocent and pure her expression was.

"I was trying to prove myself worthy,

Toby." She replied, the same smile still on her face. "Your mother and Fiona, they only wants what's best for you, they're your valued family members after all. So I know that if I can get them to like me, you'll eventually grow to love me." Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

The sudden pang of guilt he felt overshadowed whatever surprise he felt after seeing her innocent and pure smile.

He felt more worse when her smile faded, her fingers curled around his shirt and she lowered her head, mumbling.

"Ah, this must be one of those pleasant dreams." She chuckled, but it sounded more saddened than amused. "Yes, that's what this is. Tobias would never listen to me, he doesn't have the patience to do so." Didn't have the patience to listen to her? Tobias begged to differ. He was a great listener...just not when it came to Amara.

He'd listen hours to Celestine's worries and complains and take even more hours to comfort her. Then the remaining hours he had, he'd direct them towards work and sometimes toward his family.

Amara's voice however, had never made it to that list.

"Mara," He called, his voice gentle and his eyes filled with guilt. "I-"

"You don't love me." Amara interrupted and met his gaze. Her gaze was clear, not alcohol induced. Tobias would have thought she had sobered up if not for her next words.

She shoved him away, or at least tried to and stumbled back.

"I don't want to do this anymore. It's too much, the suffering, the neglect, the humiliation, it's all too much, Tobias, I can't do it anymore."

"Amara-" He reached out, but Bethany appeared and guarded her before he could even touch her.

"Time's up, Tobias. You need to leave."

If the night had been any less darker, Bethany would have seen the shift in his expression. How the guilt morphed into something more, how expression cracked.

"Did you apologize to your fill?

Because it's time for you to leave." She said, her eyes focused on his face and for once, Bethany

witnessed Tobias hesitating, "net

don't want to leave her, do you? Well

I suggest you do, because

stand by and watch you ruin someone so precious once again, Tobias."

"If you can't shape up and promise me that you'll never break her heart like you did, then I suggest you get moving, because there's a thousand other men out there willing to fight for her heart, and you're not one of them."
