Chapter 50
Chapter 50
Chapter 50 Evadne slowly opened her eyes, a faint sadness lingering in her gaze as she stared at the handsome man before her. He appeared as suddenly as the night breeze, kneeling before her with a deep, intent gaze. “I heard my little sister doesn’t want to acknowledge her big brother anymore?” He smirked, a twisted mix of malice and affection in his smile. “Brother.” Evadne called softly, her voice filled with tenderness. “Ah, heard you call me that finally puts my worry to rest.” Elvis’ mood instantly lifted. His usually cold gaze was now as warm as the first light of dawn. He wrapped one arm tightly around her waist, the other hand pulling out a piece of chocolate from his pocket. He ripped the wrapper open with his teeth and fed it to Evadne. “This is from abroad, your favorite. Try it.” “Elvis!” Suddenly, Evadne threw herself into Elvis’ arms, her heart filled with an inexplicable sadness. Tears welled up in her eyes, soaking Elvis’ shirt. These tears were filled with longing for her brother, guilt towards their grandpa, anger towards Acacia, and frustration over the broken diamond bracelet and disappointment and pain towards Thaddeus. “Evadne? You’re crying?” Elvis was stunned. He gently stroked her neck. “No.” Evadne murmured. “My shirt is soaked, and you’re saying you’re not crying?” “I said I’m not!” NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Though her voice trembled, she remained stubborn. Elvis knew Evadne was a girl with a strong sense of pride. She hardly ever cried, so he didn’t press her. He just held her, comforting her in silence, his heart aching: Evadne, I’m back. I’ll teach that jerk, Thaddeus, a lesson he won’t forget! At that moment, Cas sius and Arnold stood outside the door, watching the scene unfold. “Darn it, he’s won again! Evadne has never acted this spoilt in my arms. He’s been away for so long,
and as soon as he gets back, he stole my sister away. I hate him!”, Arnold complained, grinding his teeth. “The helicopter landing in Starry Villa probably caused some damage to the trees and tiles.” Cas sius sighed, “I’ll tell Elvis later. The cost to repair the garden will be billed to him.” By dawn, Evadne still hadn’t found the right diamond and had fallen asleep in the workshop. Mr. Louis had prepared a room for her in Starry Villa. Elvis carried her back to her room, gently laying her down on the bed. After tucking her in and giving her a peck on the cheek, he left the room, closing the door behind him. “You’re so stingy! Always flying around the world, but can’t bring back something nicer for your sister. Just a piece of chocolate! Don’t you think you’re being a bit miserly?” Arnold sneered, crossing his arms. “Arnold, can you stop making sarcastic comments?” Elvis shot him a look. “You should call me big brother!” Arnold frowned. “I’m not calling you big brother. What are you going to do about it?” Enraged, Arnold tried to kick Elvis but he was no match for him. Elvis easily dodged the attack, and Arnold almost fell over in embarra**ment. “You think you’re so great? But you clearly can’t control your own strength!” Elvis laughed, clutching his stomach. He hadn’t laughed so heartily in a long time, not amidst the tense atmosphere at the spy headquarters. Cas sius watched his two younger brothers bickering before him, a soft smile appearing on his face, his mind wandering back to their childhoods. “Speaking of which, let me show you the gift I prepared for our sister.” Excitement shone in Elvis’ eyes as he pulled out a silver briefcase. He unlocked the complex lock, revealing its contents. Cas s ius’ expression hardened while Arnold gasped. “This gun is a new development from our headquarters. It’s half bullets and half tranquilizer. If she’s in danger, she can shoot to the left and make the guy sleep for three days straight or shoot to the right
and make him sleep forever. This lighter is a mini grenade, easy to carry, and can blow up a building or flatten a floor. And this!” Elvis continued excitedly, “Does our sister like jewelry? I had a ring specially made for her. What do you guys think?” Arnold tried to pick it up out of curiosity, but Elvis quickly grabbed his wrist. “Don’t touch it. The ring has a poison sp i ke, more potent than any poison plant.” “Go d help you,” Cas sius murmured. “Evadne is lucky to be alive with a brother like you!” Arnold exclaimed. “You don’t get it. The gifts I give are practical,” Elvis squinted his eyes, a cold glint in them, “Those are for that ba stard, Thaddeus. If he dared to mess with my sister, let’s see how she wanted him to die.” Arnold was at a loss for words. “How long are you planning on staying this time?” Cas sius asked, “Probably half a month.” Elvis looked regretful, “I have to go abroad for an important mission next month, I need to go back and prepare. Otherwise I’d like to stay with my sister a bit longer.” “Work is important, and we’ll take care of our sister, don’t worry.” Cas sius paused and then asked softly, “Do you want to go home and see Dad? He mentioned you a few days ago.” 12.10 n “Forget it. Every time he sees me, he says he wanted to live a few more years. If I see him less, he might live longer.” Elvis waved his hand dismissively, a hint of sadness in his eyes. Cas sius and Arnold exchanged a glance, both felt a bit uneasy. Even Evadne’s slowly warming up to the three chicks Dad brought home, Elvis can’t stomach Dad’s betrayal of Mom.
So he decided to go to military school, and without a second thought, he’s off being a spy, left his hometown behind. But recently, maybe it’s because he’s getting on in years. He’s been missing home more and more, missing the carefree and raucous times with his siblings. “Arnold, how about you come to do something with me?” Elvis suddenly wrapped his arm around Arnold’s neck. They were just bickering, but now they were as thick as thieves, like conjoined twins. Did something? Arnold caught on quickly. “You go on your own, Evadne said we shouldn’t stir up trouble with Thaddeus on our own. I can’t let my sister down!” Arnold ducked out of the way like his brother’s got cooties or something. Elvis snorted and grinned wickedly.
