you can’t do this to my daughter!” A woman was shouting, wagging a finger at Cahir right in the open parking lot in front of the pack dwellings. “Do you know who I am? We are a family of Alphas. You can’t!”

“I’d like to see who’d stop me,” came Cabir’s crisp tone. It sent shivers down my spine and it wasn’t even directed at me. “As for who you are, you’re a worker under me. Do you understand what I am saying?”

“You arrogant bastard!” The woman screamed. She’d pulled a crowd with her hysterics and the Alpha’s guards surrounded the area but Cahir looked at her with something akin to joy in his eye. “You’ll see your end soon, you bastard! I promise you!” The redhead shouted. “You’re nothing! Nothing, I tell you. Watch, watch and see how miserable your end will bel

“Unfortunately, you won’t see my end.” Was that amusement in his tone?

I recognized the woman. How couldn’t I? She was the spitting image of my tormentor. Mrs Carson. The second I thought about her name, she turned around and her eyes fell on me. The look in her eyes had me taking a step back. It brought a shiver to my spine along with memories that had never faded. The look in her eyes – it was the same look the crazy lady who tried to abduct me from my hotel room in Manz Island had in her eyes.

“You!” She pointed a finger at me and it was then people noticed my presence amid the chaos. “This is all your fault” She shouted and then rushed at me. Everything happened in a sort of distant universe, one that I wasn’t a part of, one where she wasn’t running full speed at me.

“I’m going to kill you!” It was those words that startled me and had me moving to the side but I moved too late. She didn’t tackle me to the ground as she planned as I stepped away, but I stepped away too slowly so in the end, she hit my side and I stumbled, almost falling. The person behind me grabbed my arm, yanking me up before I fell. I gritted my teeth to stop the hiss of pain from escaping my lips.

“Sihana,” Cahir said in a voice filled with shock.

“They said I was in danger but I didn’t think it was this imminent,” I groaned, rubbing my shoulder which had almost been dislocated by the force with which I was pulled up.

“Luna, are you okay?” I looked up at the person who’d pulled me from falling and my lips parted in surprise.

“Sebastian,” I muttered the name. “You look –” I swallowed the words on the tip of my tongue. He looked like hell. The once burly warrior had lost weight. Giant dark eye bags decorated his eyes like terrible costume makeup, his skin was sunburnt and his clothes were haphazard – his shirt was also buttoned wrongly.

“Oh, that. Who said you’re in danger?” He asked, shrugging off my question. Cahir was beside me before I could answer, Avalon’s mother was still screaming obscenities at me and my mate but the Alpha’s guards dragged her away.

“What are you doing here?” Cahir asked, brushing Sebastian’s hand off my shoulder in a not–subtle way.

“I have something important to tell you but you weren’t picking up. What was all that about?” I asked, looking back to the dispersing crowd as we walked into the central pack house.

“That? I’os rakine esse of a few things” he said beuching scide mu nugation “What did wou want to tell

me?”

“What are you taking care of by picking a public fight with Mrs Carson? She’s a friend to the Greysons, sn’t she?” I asked, pressing the button for the top floor of the central pack house.

“She is.” Again. I heard the excitement in Cahir’s tone. One stone, two birds,” he smirked.

“Okay, now I’m even more curious. You have to tell me what happened.”

“Let’s get to the office,” he responded with a smile, wrapping a hand around my shoulder. “Did you sleep well?” He played with my hair as we went up. “You are awake earlier than yesterday.”

“Yesterday, they let me sleep till noon. It was ridiculous” I pouted. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

I used to have trouble sleeping but now I had trouble not sleeping. I was falling asleep everywhere and despite going to bed early every night, I always woke up late the next day. It was something

that’d been going on for the past few days but I didn’t mind. After all, I put on weight this way.

“If you’re tired, you should sleep,” Cahir scolded. “I’ve read rest is good for the baby. Such simple words. but I couldn’t put into words how they made my heart sing. My heart warmed at the mention of the baby from his lips – the same lips that said he didn’t want kids.

Cahir wasn’t where I wanted him to be when it came to excitement about our child but he was getting there. He’d done a lot of research about kids and would mention some random facts at random times. He had about twenty names lined up for the kid and the other day, he even mentioned a baby room.

I could still see his weariness sometimes when the baby was mentioned but rather than focus on that, I focused on the effort he put in now. I’d have been suspicious if he suddenly went from hating the idea of a family to loving it so watching the process of him opening his heart to a child was so much more satisfying.

“I’m not tired. What happened with Mrs Carson?” I asked when we entered his office.

“I’m starting a purge and she’s the first person to go. With her, I’ll take down the Greysons.” He smiled.

“A purge?” I frowned.

“Yes. Before the baby comes, I should reduce my enemies.” I blinked at him as his smile widened. “It’ll be easier if I could deal with all of them so there would be no one to target my child after I am gone, but it’ll be impossible to do that.”

“So So you’re going to get rid of your enemies?” I blinked again. It was too sudden to accept like that.

“Yes. Don’t you like it?” He asked.

“I it’s so sudden,” I muttered.

“It’s sudden but it’s something I’ve had in mind since we mated. You are always in danger because of the countless people whose excesses I ignored. Now, I have to cut down every tree that threatens my mate and child as soon as possible. The baby should be born in a safe world and right now, the world around me isn’t safe.

“Yeah” I didn’t want to ruin his speech by asking him not to indulge his bloodlust with this battle he was about to start. “But the Greysons are powerful,” I muttered. “Can you really go against them?”

“They are powerful so they are a problem. My power has to be absolute before the child is born.” I chuckled at that but he was serious. The smile fell from my face after those tyrannical words.

Avalon tried to seduce me in my office last week so for that, I’m taking out her family. It was too small a to throw in all the Carsons but now her mother has tried hurting my Luna and child – His words stopped registering in my head when he said ‘seduce.

“She – Tried to seduce you?” Asena growled something but I couldn’t hear it from the roaring in my head.

“She pretended to. In reality, she was sneaking into my office but then she met me there and changed tactics. It was funny.” He laughed again but I didn’t see the humour. “Sia?” I heard him calling my name but I couldn’t respond. “Sia Sia, are you jealous right now?”
