Chapter 48 Don't Look At Me If You Can't Bear It
Chapter 48 Don't Look At Me If You Can't Bear It
Sadie was surprised. Her eyebrows raised slightly. Then she asked maliciously, "Don't you choose me
because I am ugly?"
"Not ugly enough." Julian retorted coolly and kissed the top of her head.
Sadie was embarrassed and irritated, her cheeks flushing. But she couldn't refute him.
In the car, she stayed far away from him, looking rather gloomy.
Julian glanced at her and curved his lips with pleasure, continuing to deal with work.
The place they had dinner in was FQ Restaurant, a membership-only private restaurant, which was not
easy to find.
It took Ted quite an effort to find it.
In the twilight, a private restaurant was hidden in the depths of the park. The lantern hanging on the
door had been lit. The warm yellow light cast on the stone lion in front of the door, which was somewhat
unreal.
Sadie blinked in surprise and couldn't help but blurt out, "This is a restaurant with private home
cuisine?"
Julian lifted his head after looking at the tablet, glanced out the window casually, smiled, and nodded.
Getting off the car, Sadie looked at the scene in front of him, feeling particularly dazed. No wonder they
couldn't find it. This place was like a museum. No one would know that there was a mysterious
restaurant with private home cuisine inside.
Entering the lobby, Sadie felt the quaint atmosphere immediately as if she had entered the filming
scene of a costume drama series, but the furnishings were much more exquisite.
She looked around in awe and followed Julian up to the third floor. The waiter opened the door of the
private room, and the noisy sound instantly stopped.
"Julian, where did you find this girl?" The woman's voice was soft and tender, teasing. "Why does she
look like a teenager?"
Julian looked as if he didn't hear her, gently held Sadie's shoulders, and walked into the room.
Robyn Harris, who just asked him, was startled and looked at Sadie beside him incredulously.
How was that possible? Anyone familiar with Julian knew that since his little wife had an accident, he
had never let any strange woman close to him for so many years, not to mention that he would take the
initiative to hold a woman's shoulder.
Even a woman standing next to him would be driven away.
But as she was looking at his expression, he was not reluctant at all. He was completely enjoying it!
Others present were also shocked. Hearing that the Chambers family had found Julian's young wife,
everyone was curious and rushed over from City A to ask him if it was true. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
No one thought that he would find such a woman here, who was still so young.
Sadie felt the hostility from Robyn and then frowned uncomfortably. There were five people sitting in
the room. Besides Cohen, Sara was also there.
Feeling her gaze on her, Sadie knew that she was obviously eyeing her, which made her fully alert.
Sara probably didn't know her, but she had a good relationship with Otto and should have heard him
talk about herself.
Sadie hoped not to be recognized by her, otherwise, with her sister Leyla's temperament, the entire
Communication University would probably know tomorrow that she hooked up with the new visiting
professor—Julian.
"Robyn, how can you talk like that?" Someone spoke, obviously jokingly. "We know what kind of girl he
likes."
Robyn glanced at the man, suppressed her jealousy, and couldn't help but say in a weird tone, "Julian,
why don't you introduce her to everyone? I heard that your little wife was back. Is that true?"
Julian glanced at her while no one could tell whether he was angry. Then he took a wet tissue to help
wipe Sadie's hands.
Sadie was depressed, but she was still smiling. As people saw that she was obedient, they thought
they were sweet and had a good time together.
It was quiet in the huge private room. The person who was waiting for a good show witnessed that
Julian who was never close to a female carefully wiped the hands of a young girl. They were so
shocked that they couldn't believe what they just saw.
Since his young wife died in the ocean six years ago, everyone made every effort to let him start
dating, but never thought about what he liked.
The girl who came with him looked very young, but apart from being young, she didn't seem so pretty.
This was what Robyn couldn't accept. Except that she couldn't be young again, she didn't feel that her
looks couldn't beat that little girl.
"It looks like someone is going to lose." Cohen curved his lips, trying to break the quirky atmosphere of
the room with a joke.
"And it was a terrible loss." Someone on the side answered him, watching Julian meaningfully.
Julian raised his eyebrows slightly, carefully wiped the last finger of Sadie clean, discarded the wipes,
looked back at Robyn, and curved his lips. "Miss Robyn, what did you ask me just now?"
This was threatening, which made everyone lower their heads, for they didn't want to be caught by his
anger.
Cohen looked at Sadie playfully and smile but said nothing.
Human eyes couldn't lie. No matter how clever a liar was, he could easily drop his defense by staring
into Cohen's eyes for a few minutes and being properly guided and hypnotized by him.
And she was just a little girl. When she looked at Julian, her disgust seemed to have faded a lot, which
was a good sign.
Robyn seemed to be shocked by Julian's sudden anger and then chuckled, "It's nothing. Since
everyone is here, let's dig in."
Julian withdrew his gaze, let out a cold snort in disdain, raised his hand to embrace Sadie's shoulder,
and said in a gentle tone, "You should eat more. It isn't comfortable if you're too skinny when I'm
holding you in my arms."
"Okay," Sadie answered, tilted her head, and kissed him on the face though she felt disgusted. Then
she picked up her chopsticks gracefully.
Although everyone was curious whether Sadie was the one sent back by the Chambers family, no one
dared to ask again. They were afraid of him. Robyn was such an arrogant woman but she didn't dare to
be reckless when she met him.
They were neither pleased nor depressed while having a meal. Although they seemed harmonious, it
was not the fact.
Sadie felt nothing about it and had no appetite. She was thinking of the question Robyn just asked.
Julian had a young wife.
These people were all acquaintances around him. She had doubted before whether she and Julian
used to live together, but now that she was sure that she had thought too much.
If they really lived together before, it was impossible that these people couldn't recognize her.
There were only a few people here—three men and two women. There were Cohen and two other
people who she didn't know. And then there were Robyn and Sara. However, there was contempt in
their eyes that couldn't be ignored.
Sadie put down her chopsticks and found that Cohen had been snickering on the side. She couldn't
help but roll her eyes at him, leaning against Julian.
"Have you eaten?" Julian looked soft, lowered his head, and kissed her on the cheek, took the napkin
to help wipe her mouth.
The sweet movements immediately caused a few gasps.
"Julian, you should mind our single men's emotions." Cohen teased them, "The lady is blushing."
Julian glanced at him, then kissed Sadie again, and spoke in a light tone, "Don't look at me if you can't
bear it."
Sadie's lips twitched. She barely forced a smile, whispered in his ear, got up, and went to the
bathroom.
Robyn had been paying attention to Sadie. Seeing her go to the bathroom, she gave Sara a wink,
stood up, and followed gracefully.
