Chapter 20
I shut my eyes tight as we were about to hit a tree, When I heard Carson’s laughter I sprung open my eyes checking my body if I was harmed or even still alive.
“I told you a good amount of fear is good,” Carson said as he watched the fear in my eyes slowly turn into annoyance
“Are you trying to get me killed?” I said with anger in my voice, I was certain he had lost his mind and he was involving my precious life with his madness
“No, look” Carson used his eyes to point at my other hand wrapped around his upper arm, I didn’t realize I had touched him, I quickly removed any body contact we shared and adjusted myself.
“You’re insane” I pushed my hair behind my ears and scoffed
“I am simply just in love, if I hadn’t done that you wouldn’t have called my name or held my arm for the first time” Carson looked at me with a sense of fulfillment, Relishing in what he had just done.
“Was that your plan?” I asked
“Ding ding ding, how did you know?” Carson replied sarcastically, I rolled my eyes at his words
“Whatever, just keep your eyes on the road,” I said to Carson and he responded by smirking.
After I spoke the rest of the car ride was oddly silent. We didn’t say anything and he didn’t tease me. It made me wonder what exactly was wrong with this man, one minute he’s all words, and then the next he’s completely silent. After what seemed like forever we finally arrived at the gate of the mansion, I remembered it vividly it was when I entered through the gates my life had changed forever, I was stuck in this nightmare, When it was opened the grandeur of the house stood greatly before us, I stared at the mansion like it was my first time there, it always amazes me how one man can own something so magnificent and large.
Workers were present to receive us, When the car came to a halt, our doors were flung open and they welcomed us back home, Janet stood in front of them all, She must have been in trouble because of my escapades, I’m sure she got reprimanded, it was my fault I didn’t choose this life and I’m sure she didn’t choose to be a worker either.
“Welcome Sir and ma,” Janet said as she bowed her head, Carson just walked past them and headed to where Benson was standing they both entered the mansion, They probably had something urgent to talk about as they were talking to each other in a hushed tone and Benson held some files in his right hand
“Shall we head to your room?” Janet asked
“Sure,” I said quietly I didn’t want to give her any more trouble than I already had, I dislike causing others painExclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
We headed to the room given to me after I was separated from my family. When we got in I could feel the air getting thicker. I did my best to escape from this place, Is this how I will spend all the days of my life? Being some kind of prisoner of a wealthy businessman, I can never accept this fate, I have to do something, I can’t give up now
“You must be tired, What can I get you ma’am?”Janet asked me as I stepped into the room, I was hungry, I can’t lie, Maybe she heard the rumbling of my tummy and thought it best to ask me or maybe she was just doing her job
“What do you have?” This time I stopped being stubborn and asked
“Anything you wish to eat” Janet replied, I figured she asked cause she didn’t want to mistakenly and unknowingly give me something I’m allergic to
“Get me some soup but please leave out any seafood,” I said to Janet
“Okay ma’am” Janet left within the blink of an eye, I wasn’t always aware of my allergies, One day when I was about five years old we went for a trip to visit my aunt, my mom’s sister, She lives around the seaside of another town, It was winter so we all had thick sweaters on as the weather was chilly, it was almost Christmas by just a few days.
Before we got to my aunt’s place, Gwen kept bugging my parents that she was hungry and we all know that a hungry Gwen is a cranky Gwen, They finally gave in and we stopped at a nearby restaurant it was a seafood restaurant and they had a lot of customers but It wasn’t unexpected it was already time for the holidays so a lot of people came here to spend time with their families
The aroma was spontaneous, and we couldn’t wait to try out the delicacy, We were given a table, and The menu was filled with amazing options like buttery lobster and grilled catfish that had already started to make our mouths water and we placed our orders, They waitress brought the delicacies and without any further hesitation we devoured the food, Every bite filled our mouths with flavor and deliciousness. We were all happy about the food but I started coughing with each bite I took but I didn’t let it stop me from eating.
My throat began to itch uncontrollably, My chest began to burn, my face turned red and I had shortness of breath, My worried parents and confused sisters quickly rushed me to the car and took me straight to the hospital, they had thought I was choking and my mom kept trying to get the food out When we got to the hospital I was treated and they ran a couple of tests on me and that was when they realized that I was having an allergic reaction to seafood After that day I became cautious about seafood, The near-death experience was enough for me to stay clear of seafood.
I heard a knock on the “Come in”
