Enough For Him

Chapter 25

“Bro you alright, you don’t look good,” Kaleb says nudging me. Fuck I thought these pathetic attacks were gone. This is what happens to you when you nearly die when you’re 8 years old.

I spent 4 years in therapy after that near-death experience when I was flying to China for my mom’s wedding. Turbulence at a whole new level let me tell you.

“I’m fine give me a few minutes” I whispered rubbing my heard hoping the pounding headache would stop soon. This is not what you want when there’s a bunch of hot girls on this plane.

Leon did you really have to look like a pussy on the school trip.

I noticed Kaleb getting out of his seat as an air hostess came over to me with a glass of water. She handed it over to me checking If I was okay.

“it will pass, I just had a bad experience before,” I said to her hoping she would just leave me. I felt her presence disappear thankfully.

The pressure of someone sitting next to me made me groan. Can’t they get the message?

Instead of hearing the annoying voice of another member of the cabin crew I felt the warm fingers being placed on my shoulder.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

“you’re giving Kaleb an unfair advantage on the girls Leon” Liz whispered her hand rubbing my shoulder.

Her familiar scent and her tanned skin were a great distraction I could almost feel the migraine disappearing.

Liz thinks I care about those girls probably plotting a way to get into my hotel room tonight when really, I would rather have Lizzy. The quiet yet feisty girl I’ve had to be friends with if I want to spend time with her.

She likes her friends who are girls and doesn’t really reach out to guys which I can understand. We can be disgusting.

“how can I say that when you’re here,” I said just loud enough for her to hear. After she heard me, she turned to hit my shoulder instead of rubbing it.

“Thank you I needed that,” I said finally looking at her. I was no longer panicking thanks to her.

“the shoulder rub or me boosting your ego” I smiled hearing her. From a distance, you wouldn’t think she would have balls to make comments like this but the more I get to know her the more I see more of her.

“I’m being honest here Liz, planes scare the shit out of me, and you helped distract me instead of ignoring me and I” I was stopped as I felt her finger being placed against my lips. Damn, I wanted to kiss it desperately.

“your welcome Leon. Side note can you get back into you’re a game because my friend Haley really likes Kaleb and he’s working the girls like it’s his fulltime job” she peeks over her shoulder where I see Kaleb making moves.

Is she telling me to openly flirt with girls? That must mean she doesn’t like me. fuck that I don’t want those girls.

“He hasn’t tried it on you has he,” I ask her. I watch her nose scrunch up as she shakes her head.

“I don’t think I’m his type Leon,” she says it like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. Does she not know how beautiful she is? Long dark hair, tanned skin and those dreamy long legs are every mans dream.

Most importantly mine.

I was able to convince Kaleb to swap seats.

“thanks for convincing Kaleb Haley is going to love it,” she says sneaking a smile. She can think that I did if for Kaleb and Haley to get to talk but between you and me I definitely did it for myself.

I met Liz for the first time at a wedding and I thought things were going well only to return back to school where she acted like I never existed. A real bruise to my ego.

Instead of putting a girl in the friend zone I had to insert myself into the friend zone with her since that’s the only way with Liz.

I convinced her to help me on an assignment at school when in actual fact I’ve already finished it. I managed to take her out on three dates without her even knowing it.

End of flashback

I felt the plane start moving down the runway. I was too busy living in my memories I hadn’t noticed Liz staring at me with a hint of a smile on her face.

Could she read me that well? I wonder if she knew what I was thinking and was she remembering the moment as well.

When we finally arrived in Bali, I noticed that we were all feeling tired from the long haul flight. We were all exhausted, mostly due to the waiting time in between our flights. Leon had Jayson resting on his lap as we drove to the villa that Leon organised for us in record time.

I opened up the door to the villa letting Leon carry a sleeping Jayson inside and straight to one of the rooms.

With the help from one of the workers, we brought all the bags inside. I handed him a tip and closed the door on his way out after he expressed his gratitude.

Even though I was tired from the flight I decided to have a look around the villa. Leon managed to find us a Villa where we would stay together as a family. Opposed to a hotel in which I would most likely suggest we have different rooms. I didn’t object because I knew Leon wanted to make this trip memorable and it’s about time I stop complaining and think positively for my son’s future.

I walked outside, sliding the large patio doors open. The second I lifted my eyes, It brought my lips to a close. My breaths slowing with every movement of my eyes as I took in the breath taking view in front of me.

“you did good Leon” I whispered taking my phone out and taking a few pictures of the view. “Jayson is down did you want to get a few hours of sleep before dinner” I heard Leon say walking in behind me.

I weighed up the options and realised that I would most likely need some rest now so that I have the energy for later when Jayson is also well rested.

“only a few hours,” I said walking towards another room. I wanted to enjoy our first night together. I stopped next to Leon.

He glanced at me with his straight smile. The smile that was refusing to show anymore emotion. “This villa is beautiful, thank you for making it special for Jayson” I said as I brushed past him. I had expected him to reply however I heard nothing from him as I disappeared into the hallway to search for Jayson.

I soon found Jayson lying peacefully in one of the smaller rooms. His favourite toy was tucked into his neck as he was cacooned in a light blanket.

I removed my cardigan from my shoulders and shoes and laid down beside Jayson making sure that I didn’t wake him up.

I woke up a few hours later and prepared myself to wake up Jay only to be pleasantly surprised, Jayson was beside me his eyes open wide as he stared up at the ceiling.

I quickly sat up in the bed “Shall we go see daddy?” I said reaching my hand out for him to hold. He placed his small hand in mine and walked with me outside the room.

I looked around searching for Leon.

I saw from the corner of my eye Jayson start running. I quickly grabbed him before he woke up Le-on who was laying on one of the large sofas, his arm over his eyes as he rested quietly. I wasn’t sure that he was sleeping but I did know that he needed to rest after all the work he has done.

“Let Daddy sleep jay, you can play with him later” I whispered softly as I pulled a sulking Jay to the next room. I turned on the tv and occupied his mind with cartoons for the time being which seemed to work like a charm.

Our plan was to go out and eat for dinner tonight, so I hoped Leon wasn’t too tired for that. For the time being I busied myself as I grabbed our suitcases and started to unpack. I picked out clothes for Jayson and laid them on the bed as I took out a dress from my suitcase.

When it came to 6 o’clock I could hear Leon talking with Jayson, so I took this opportunity to shower and get ready for tonight.

The shower room was huge, a stone shower with frosted glass. I stood underneath and let the wa-ter wash my body, getting rid of all the dirt and sweat accumulated from travelling for so long.
