Chapter 706
The shareholders all got to their feet, chiming in, "Jeffery, don't worry, we've got the new Ms. Claire's back all the way."NôvelDrama.Org content.
Jeffery was out the door in no time. Claire, on the other hand, had just about reached her breaking point. She stood up, ready to make her exit too. "Ms. Bet, hang on a sec, I've got something to announce," someone called out.
Claire, not in the mood to cooperate, grabbed her purse. "Whatever it is, can wait. Right now, I've got an appointment at the salon."
Connor stayed cool as a cucumber, lounging in his seat with a knowing grin, watching Claire. "Ms. Bet, I'll be calling a shareholders' meeting shortly to discuss some company changes. You might regret walking out now."
Claire knew the score. Connor had just taken the reins and was trying to test her mettle, hoping to embarrass her in front of everyone. But Claire wasn't about to play his game. Without a word, she strode out of the meeting room.
As soon as Claire left, Diana followed, wheeling herself out of the room. But she hadn't gone far when she felt a sudden force steering her wheelchair in a different direction. She realized someone was behind her. Turning around, she saw it was Chloe.
Chloe pushed her wheelchair into a quiet corridor. Diana snapped, "Chloe, what are you doing? Let me go!"
Chloe stayed silent, pushing the wheelchair until they reached a secluded spot and finally stopped. Diana was livid.
"Chloe, what on earth do you want?
Are you trying to kidnap me?"

Diana's face was flushed with anger and humiliation. When Chloe had control of her wheelchair, she felt utterly helpless. She no longer had her legs and couldn't escape dike others might, forced instead to go where Chloe directed. What stung even more was that losing her leg was Chloe's fault.
Finally, Chloe released the
wheelchair. She gripped the handles, spun them fiercely, then held the sides firmly. Diana's body spun with the forceful movements, nearly toppling out of the wheelchair, but Chloe caught her just in time.
Chloe's hands were braced on either side of the chair as she leaned in, her eyes fixed on Diana's. They were face-to-face, close enough to feel the tension.
Diana, still shaken, met Chloe's piercing gaze. Chloe's voice was low and threatening. "Diana, it's time to settle the score."
Diana felt a chill run through her. The person in front of her, despite her beauty, was intimidating. Her eyes were sharp, cutting like a blade. Diana used to admire Chloe's fierce elegance, but now all she felt was resentment.
Diana was rattled but quickly gathered herself. "Settle what score? If anyone should be settling scores, it should be me with you."
Chloe smirked, straightening up and crossing her arms. "So now you're twisting things to suit your story."
"Isn't it the truth? My situation now, isn't it because of you?" Diana shot back.
Chloe let out a dry laugh, looking at her in disbelief. "You're emotionally fragile, couldn't handle Connor
getting married, had an accident et
and think it's our fault? We shouldn't have gotten married? Well, if get sick every time I see you, should you not exist either?"
